“Pleased with our choice”
All employees were very friendly, and importantly, they spoke enough English to communicate effectively with my boyfriend and I, who don't speak any Russian. The location, while not as central as some hotels, offers beautiful views of downtown St. Petersburg, across the canal.
“Great small hotel. Friendly and helpful staff.”
Everything was perfect at the Tradition Hotel unless you want to be in the middle of the tourist area. We were able to cross the river by boat which was fine. The staff is friendly and helpful. Anton, the manager is terrific. We would definitely return.
“Great Value and Comfortable Too”
The rooms at the Tradition hotel are clean and comfortable. The bath is well done and includes a shower but no tub. The breakfast was included and very good though the breakfast room good get crowded. The hotel is on two floors and you must walk up to the second floor if your room is there no elevator). The only slight drawback was location. It is on the Petrograd side very close to the Peter and Paul Fortress. It will take about 15 or 20 minutes to cross the Neva River to get to the Hermitage and the sights in Central St. Petersburg. There is a water taxi stop very close to the hotel but the nearest metro station is 10 minutes or so away. We spent 5 days there in September 2011 and enjoyed the hotel very much. No hesitation about recommending.
“Highly recommend and for sure will go back”
The staffs are friendly, helpful. Hotel very clean, good breakfast and location is 10 mins walk to Metro. They help us to dry the clothings and shoes after heavy rain even we already check out and provide tea and snack while waiting for taxi pick up. We do like to thanks all the staff and the Manager who help me to carry luggage to taxi. Hope to see them all very soon.
“Tradition Hotel sets a new standard.”
Lovely renovation, Quality furnishings. Great location. Great breakfast. Friendly and courteous staff. Only negative is that ouur room smelled of smore, although this was a non-smoking hotel. Seems that the smoke comes from the tenant (not connected with the hotel) above our room and seeps through the ventilation system. Will return to this hotel. Great value.
“Excellent and reasonably priced”
We had an enjoyable stay at the Tradition Hotel. The hotel is small and intimate, and has undergone recent rennovation. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to tram and bus stops. The air conditioned room was very welcome at the end of a long day tramping around Saint Petersburg on foot in record breaking heat. The room was equiped with a coffee corner, complimentary chocolates, bathrobes and slippers. The breakfast buffet included fresh fruits, yogurt, croissants and rolls, ham, cheese, eggs and cereals. The Tradition was quite reasonably priced compared to the hotels around the Nevsky Prospect.

It was a great surprise to meet so excellent service and so luxury rooms in so small Hotel. :) I was absolutely satisfied and will come back again.
“Great Stay”
Had a great experience with the hotel and staff. There was some construction in front of the hotel and it was not that centrally located to the main attractions (a bit of a walk). All in all it was a pleasant stay and would recommend to others.
“Barest minimum”
Outside of hotel was being repaired and we had to go under scaffolding and through a muddy and unpaved street to reach the front door. No elevator and no help in getting suitcases from second floor to front door when checking out. Room clean but small-no window view- and little space for suitcases. Desk clerks, though they spoke English, did not always understand our questions and gave us poor advice about public transportation. Walk to Hermitage about 1/2 hours through cold winds and heavy traffic. Not a hotel for the weak of body.
“Very disappointed”
Hotel was small and had work going on outside, I was very disappointed and the hotel was clearly nowhere near a 4 star hotel. Room didn't have a bath and there was a drainage smell coming from the shower - apparently the hotel was 'fully booked' and we couldn't move rooms. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone who is expecting a 4 star.
