“Satisfied”
The room was a bit small but enough for one person, and was clean. The location is also good. 5 minute walk from an MTR station. Close to covenience stores - Family Mart and 7-11.
“A bit too inconvenient for a busy traveler.”
This is more of a upscale business type of hotel. Many clients were wearing suits or business attire. Location is very good with a lot of nightlife and near the MRT. The staff there are nice but lack English skills despite seeing English signs all over the hotel. The hotel gym was excellent and had lots of good weight training equipment for a hotel based gym. The gym had the same brand equipment that would be found at a Bally's which was a pleasant surprise. In-room wired complimentary internet access and speed were superb. Breakfast was excellent and a very good selection of items too. One of the light fixtures in my room was intermittently blinking, they never came to fix it despite my 4 night stay there. The carpet was a really badly stained and worn. I was really disappointed that the hotel did not have a common washing machine, drier, ice machine nor any vending machines. When I called reception inquiring about ice, they indicated that they offer ice delivery to your room for NT$95 which I though was ridiculous so I went to buy some ice at the 7-11 across the street for almost nothing! I happened to be touring a lot so I had to take my laundry to a nearby public coin laundry since the hotel didn't offer last minute or late night laundry or a common laundry area. Overall the hotel was very nice but I would rather try another hotel the next time to meet more of my needs. For someone that's looking for a more elegant (posh) hotel this one may fit them perfectly.
“Gloria Prince Review”
Very pleased with my stay at the hotel. It is difficult to understand and make conversation with some of the staff, although this is understandable being in an Asian country, they do make you feel more than welcome and offer their assistance when needed.
“I wouldn't stay here again”
The room I stayed in had plumbing issues from the first day I checked in. Had to flush the toilet at least 3 times each time it was used. That's just 1/4 of the story. Depending on the time of the day and the staff that was working at the time, the people at the front desk can be very rude. This hotel is right by a very busy road at night. A lot of bars in the area, which means it's a heavy traffic area for taxis. The hotel does not have double pane window, only single pane window. Which makes the rooms by the road very noisy. I was on the 10th floor and I could still hear the cars honking as if I was walking on the sidewalk. This is a nonsmoking hotel. Somehow, the person next to me was smoking. The smell filtered into my room. When I brought the attention to the front desk, they told me "There wasn't anything they could do, and couldn't move me to a different room". That was the last straw since after the incident, I checked out of the hotel and went elsewhere. Plenty of other hotels in Taipei.
