“Nice Hotel”

The TGH was a very nice hotel located in not very exciting section of the city. Our family room was equipped with 2 Kings, separate toilet from the nicely appointed bathroom; cool square tub, nice shower, single sink on a large counter, mini fridge and coffee bar. It looks like the hotel was just recently re-furbished as the decor was fresh and in good shape. As noted in other reviews, the neighborhood around the hotel isn't anything special. We hit up the international market across the street for breakfast and snacks and there's a fruit seller just around the corner. They'll peel and cut anything on the shelf for you to order. Seemed a much better plan than the pricey hotel restaurants. Lunch and dinner we did out, and the same market across the street has a nice food court if you're desperate. The green connector metro line is just a 5 minute walk and is nice because you can hit the red line prior to the main station. The blue line is a 10 minute walk, and neither station is very crowded.

“Highly recommended”

This was my third trip to Taipei and my first time at the Taipei Garden Hotel, and what a gem this is. The hotel is fairly new, everything is in great shape, staff is very helpful and the location is excellent. You are a 20min walk away from the National theater and a memorial hall dedicated to the first president of Taiwan. Tip: be there by 6am and watch the soldiers hoist the flag. Another trip: most Westeners were directed to a quieter part of the breakfast room, away from the hot food. Just ask to be seated in the main room. Great hotel, will definitely stay there again!

“new hotel, good matress, really convenient location”

we stayed at this hotel in Nov 2010. The value for money is very good and the hotel is new - so the mattress, bathroom, all perfect. The location is excellent, close to main station (one metro stop) the breakfast buffet had a really good variety and provides everything you wish for. however, a bit pricey, so we sometimes went to Carrefour (around the corner) to get some good bakery stuff (very inexpensive). so if you want to grab something light, don't have the breakfast in the hotel. If you use it as a main meal, then go for the breakfast buffet. the metro station is close by (10min) - use Xemin as this is more convenient to go to the main stations and other attractions. rooms were very clean - and I liked their mattress (firm, not soft), so we got a good nights sleep. staff very friendly. internet had a cost, but with the expedia rate it was included.

“Couldn't have planned it better!”

For leisure this is a great hotel. It was 2 blocks away from the MRT, 1 block from a major grocery store for a food court (great Italian, sushi, sukiyaki, Taiwanese, etc), 6 blocks away Longshanshi night market, etc. We spent a week at this hotel and took advantage of the breakfast buffets daily (6 nation cuisine - includes American fare). We used the hotel as a resting stop from which we took day trips via the MRT to Taipei 101, ChiangKaiShek Memorial, Tanshui Fisherman's market, Taipei Train station, National Palace museum, Taipei zoo, etc. It was fantastic. You could catch a taxi from the hotel as well. We had 2 young kids and we loved being able to get on the MRT to get back for nap in the afternoon before venturing out for dinner. It felt very safe to go at night. Oh, did I mention there is hospital 1 block from the hotel? The staff spoke fair to good English. The cleaning service is excellent and staff very courteous. By local standards, if you have to pay for the buffet breakfast, it's pricey. If you're adventurous, there are plenty of local restaurants within 2-3 blocks of the hotel. We really enjoyed it. Everyone safe and happy on the return.

“Taipei Garden Hotel”

Top notch hotel at a reasonable price. The service was friendly - they gave us directions to a great, classic Taipei breakfast spot, a nearby internet cafe and were always there to answer our questions. The room was beautiful. Clean, modern, and spacious. We had a view of the 101 building and the CKS Memorial, which was great. The "double bed" is actually two twin beds put together, so bigger than a king and really comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Good quality, value, and location”

The Taipei Garden is a relatively new hotel located in western Taipei near many government offices. It is close to the Xiaonanmen MRT station which allows riders to connect to the red and blue lines and avoid the crowds at Taipei Main Station. The Premier room is clean, comfortable and up-to-date. They have a decent buffet breakfast with western and Chinese food. You can reserve a room with or without the breakfast. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This hotel hosts lots of tour groups so the hotel usually has a high occupancy rate. It also means crowded elevators at times and that the noise is a little louder than if it was strictly a business hotel. But, it's no big deal. Breakfast can get kind of crowded, too, with a wait for a table if you go at the wrong time. The hotel is across the street from a Carrefour with a decent food court. Lots more restaurants are in Ximen, a 15-minute walk up Zhonghua Rd. The Taipei Garden meets my needs and I would stay there again.
