“Nowhere Better!”
As students, My friend and I were on a budget - This hotel seemed to cater for us, Cheap and directly next to a Train station. We just needed somwhere to sleep, not really expecting much... However, It was so much more than what we could possibly want! Friendly, helpful staff (who do speak basic English), free Internet access (athough the computers are a little hit-and-miss). Cofortable beds and a nice big TV in our room! The location was absolutley fantastic - just across the road from the Sumo arena (which was shown on the News whist we were there) and, of course the Train station. Seriously, we loved it. Tip for finding hotel: It took us a while to find so... When you exit Ryogoku station, head for the McDonalds! From there it'll be towards the right, through the second set of revolving doors.
“very good choice”
Nice staff , good price , extremely good location (20 meters from ryogoku jr station and 200 mts from subway )very very clean . perfect choice im my point of view
“Extremely pleasant stay”
An extremely pleaseant surprise, both the room as well as the hotel in general was extremely well maintained and appeared liked everything was brand new or at least renovated just weeks ago. Space in the room was quite limited, would not recommend it to anyone above 6'3 or 280 lbs.
“Treated me like family”
I was in Tokyo on an expedia package tour to run the Tokyo Marathon. The hotel was first class at a bargain price. The staff went out of their way to help me and explain things. They wished me well as I prepared to run 26 miles and I spent 5 nights in one of the world's largest cities with quiet so I could get the rest I needed. I'll be back!
“segoi!”
The staff at Pearl Ryogoku was extremely helpful especially considering the fact that I don't speak much Japanese.
“Very nice and in a good location”
The hotel was very nice. As others have said, there was a little bit of noise from the nearby train station, but not enough to bother me. The hotel was much nicer than I expected. Definitely cramped (at least in our 2 person 'studio' room, which was a regular room with an extra bed in it), but I expected cramped in Tokyo, Japan. The only problem I have is their claim of a "bilingual staff". While I was at the hotel, I was definitely able to communicate without a problem with the staff. However, while trying to call the hotel (especially when lost and trying to find the hotel) the staff was VERY unhelpful on the phone. At one point, even simply telling me "No english"
“Small, but worth the price”
Lets get this out of the way, the room is very small! There wasn't much room at all. You basically walk in, and theres a bathroom and beds and not much else. So when I give it 5 stars I am not ranking it on the same scale as nice hotels, but I am ranking it for what it was, a low priced place to sleep after a day in tokyo. The staff was very friendly. and the room was clean. The hotel was very easy to find, just a 1 minute walk from the JR Ryogoku station. The location was amazingly convenient! I was able to walk to Sky Tree, and to get to every major district in Tokyo. Speaking of Sky Tree, I had a perfect view of it from my window! I did not expect a room that was so cheap to have a view of Japan's newest and biggest landmark, so I was very pleasantly surprised. Some people complained about the train noise, but with my window closed and on the 9th floor I did not hear much noise. Basically, book the room expecting a tiny place to sleep, and you will be satisfied with everything about it.
“Basic but nice hotel that's in a fantastic location”
The hotel is a thirty second walk from the Ryogoku train station so it's very easy to find. The close proximity of the train station means it's really easy to hop on the train and get to all the major areas in Tokyo you might want to visit. For electronics fans the famed electric town of Akihabara is two minutes away by train. There are also some great things to see right by the hotel, such as the Edo Tokyo Museum, The Sumo Stadium, Yasuda Teien Garden and river cruises. I had no problems checking into the hotel, it must have taken two minutes tops. I told them my name, filled in a registration card, showed my passport and was given my room key. I had pre-paid my room through Expedia and there were no problems with that. The hotel rooms are very small but they're clean and tidy. I was on the very top floor of the hotel so I had an excellent view of the Sumida River and Sumo Stadium. The traffic noise outside is very loud but if you keep the window closed it's not a problem. The bathroom is small and functional, but again it was in good condition and everything worked the way it should. This hotel is by no means a luxury five star palace, but if you just need a clean and comfortable place to stay in a fantastic location, you could do worse. I was only in Tokyo for four nights for the Tokyo Game Show, but if I went back for a longer stay I'd certainly consider staying at the Ryogoku Pearl again.
“Great Hotel for Tokyo explorers”
This hotel is located in the quiet Ryogoku district of Tokyo. It is located across the street from Ryogoku Station, and only 2 stops from Akihabara Station, which is a big transfer point for the Yamanote line, which serves all of Tokyo's largest areas. Checking in was easy, despite the limited English spoken by the staff. The room was small and had limited space for luggage, but was clean, tidy, and well kept. The room included a plasma tv with about 15 channels of cable. There was also a small computer desk with a LAN connection for laptops. The bathroom included a deep tub/ shower, and a hair dryer. The only complaint i had about the hotel was that one day, a housekeeper aparently left the latch on my door closed, preventing the door from closing all of the way. My room was left open until i returned later that night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling alone or with a small group of friends who are looking for a clean, accessible place to stay while they explore the vast metropolis of Tokyo.
“Good location in sleepy sumo friendly Ryogoku”
The hotel is directly across the street from the National Sumo Stadium. Perfect access to sumo events and many chanko nabe restaurants that are part of sumo culture. Good eats and fun entertainment, but best experienced when there are tournaments taking place. Currently the hotel is being renovated. So when I was there the exterior was not very pleasing aesthetically. Actually I almost missed it entirely as signage was partially blocked by vinyl wrapping the building. Inside the staff was great and the service even better for the price I was paying. I think the meal service was a little over-priced but there are plenty of places to eat around Ryogoku station (across the street).

Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan: Today visited for its Sensoji Temple, Five Storied Pagoda, and the Nakamise traditional shopping arcade, this festive neighborhood once was the citys hot spot for drinking and dancing. Though it never experienced the development that Ginza and others have, it holds its own with an artistic community and some of the citys top attractions.
