“Welcoming hotel in centre of Chinon overlooking main square and river”

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel . Coming from Yorkshire we were surprised to be welcomed by a friendly lady from Manchester! The room (in an annexe) overlooked the pleasant garden at the back of the hotel which can be used for picnics . We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel but used the tea and coffee making facilities in the lobby which also contained lots of information about Chinon and the surrounding area .

“happy at Chinon”

Lovely members of staff who gave us lots of time and useful local information. very convenient location - free parking in car park opposite. Ask to stay in the maison bourgeois or the main old hotel.

“2 star hotel with extremely helpful staff”

It is a 2 star hotel not very well maintained and room is not very clean - thick dust found on headboards and elsewhere. Towels are thin and greyish. Beds are sagging and blankets are thin. We had to use the bed covers to keep warm. The only window in the room is the bathroom window which has rotten frame and one could smell mildew for it opens to a enclosed space with liter. Also One has to walk up open air stair case and corridor to reach room. It is extremely inconvenient and dangerous when raining as the stairs becoming very slippery. The saving grace is the hotel location is quite good at the edge of Chinon which is convenient to visit chateaux at the west side of Tours in Loire Valley. It is a better choice than staying at Tours in our opinion. Hotel staff is also extremely helpful. They brought out laptops for us to access internet though the connection is kind of weird and not very stable. We dont mind to stay there for the purpose of visiting nearby chateaux but we are still disappointed by the conditions of the hotel. We do not expect any charm but at least a clean room with adequate facilities - it lacks both.
