Americas Best Inn and Suite Urbana

“Great price. Convinient from UIUC”

This is one of most affordable place I found in Urbana-Champaigne area. It is well within walking distance from UIUC campus (~15 minute). There is also a nice park across the street. The hotel is old, but the room was in a good condition. Bathroom was also quite nice. Typically what you expect in a cheap room. Nothing to complain at all. The owner was helpful, and I was not charged for a night which I missed due to flight delay.

A basic, clean Hotel with friendly staff. Although we had booked two nights on a very busy weekend, we we came a day late. The owner who is at the front desk most of the time had kept our room reserved and took fifty dollars off the final bill even though , he was well within his right to charge us for both nights. He was also very helpful.

Overall the stay was decent. Although it was not the nicest hotel, it was definitely worth the money I paid and was a lot nicer than i expected for less than fifty dollars. Anyone that is looking for a cheap place to sleep that is visiting U of I or Champaign/Urbana would be smart to look into this hotel.

“Better than I expected...”

While I did not have any problems with the staff and the rooms were ok to a degree, I feel that as far as feeling a sense of security is somewhat of a problem. But I do want to stress that the staff were very friendly and accommodating to any requests that I had. I had to take high school girls to Urbana for a State Competition and would need to be in a hotel where I would have not have to have such a high concern for security. After booking this hotel at the last minute because all of the other hotels were booked and seeing the reviews after the fact, I feel that this hotel is not as bad as the other reviews say it is. If you want a five star hotel, make your reservations at the more upscale hotels such as the Hilton, Sheraton, etc.

Make sure you don't give them your credit card # they will fraud you. Hotel very run down. Hot water in shower is bad really hard to take one. I used this hole just because I couldn't find any other hotel in the area.

This hotel is messy. It needs a face lift. It has a funky smell and some areas really need a scrub down.

“Smoky hotel”

We checked out of the hotel within an hour of checking in. For one, the hotel did not seem safe. The doors leading into the building from the parking lot had a broken lock on it and the window in our room had no latch. Mostly, we left becuase our room and the whole hallway smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke (we were in a non-smoking room). If you are not a smoker DO NOT stay in this hotel, you will be miserable. The only positive was that the man working the front desk was very polite and friendly.

Not very friendly. Hotel smelled. Breakfast was joke and looked unclean
