“FABULOUS!”

I was nervous about staying with Venice Apartments at first Because of the fact that they do not tell you where exactly you will be staying. My worries went away when my I saw the apartment! It was darling, and directly in between Rialto and San Marco as promised. The apartment included everything we could have possibly needed and was clean and comfortable as well. I am telling all of my friends and will definitely stay there again!

The apartment we got in the Castello district was awesome! Close to everything, yet peaceful and quiet. The kitchen had everything we needed and the apartment was very comfortable.

The apartment we were given was in a great location; less than ten minutes from St Marco, with shops a few steps away. Great facilities - new and clean, including a fully equiped kitchen, in a building with character. Air-conditioning in each room. We have been recommending the Venice Apartments to everyone.

The option of booking an unknown appartment in an unnkown location is clearly not to be taken lightly. However, the value and the reviews led us to do this in Venice and we were not disappointed. The service provided by the agent was excellent once we contacted them. When you book it is important to folow the instructions and to phone the contact number to discuss arrival options. I would have preferred email of details, but the personal service provided was excellent. Apartment was in the Castello area between Rialto and St Marks. Great square (Santa Maria Formosa), apartment in lane off this with roof terrace and aircon. Great! Good spacious apartment, all ammeneties provided. On the downside I counted more than 5 light bulbs blown and the dishes in the kitechen cupboards were dirty (from previous tennant). Wasjing machine not working (but didn't expect one anyway, and agent pointed this out when we arrived so no problem). Local shops and cafes all around within 100 yards. Recommend. Dishes no

“Nice place but not the location requested”

We requested an apartment in the San Marco area but found ourselves in the East of Castello, nearest Waterbus stop Giardini. This was quite a way from San Marco and we were rather disappointed. This was a very residential area and found tourists were definitely in the minority! However it seemed like a very safe area. The apartment was on the ground floor and consisted of three rooms, bedroom, bathroom and living room/kitchen/dining room. The facilities were very good and we found all the utensils we required. The apartment was very clean and tidy but all the books supplied were in Italian. We were very happy with the stay apart from the apartment had a strange sewerage smell that appeared while we were out during the day and the apartment was very dark being on the ground floor. Venice as a city is lovely and there are plenty of things to see and do.

“Venice Apartments - perfect for our five day 'Carnivale' trip”

Simply furnished but very pleasant ground floor accommodation in a quiet residential area. The apartment was very well equipped and nicely presented and looks as though recently refurbished. It was perfect for our five day break - near enough to water bus stops and supermarket and a superb fresh green grocers for convenience, but far enough away to be peaceful when we wanted it to be. Would thoroughly recommend it and when we go back to Venice may well ask if it is still available!

“Venice lovely. Not impressed with the hotel”

I was very disappointed to find that although the apartment was billed as 'San Marco Apartments' it was actually further east than the Castello near the Giardini bus stop! This was an issue for us as my travel companion had difficulty walking long distances. Maybe I was niave to expect the apartment to be in the area as billed...

“If you want to save money”

We requested a studio apartment and found it as a good way to save money. Our apartment was in San Marco and was in a great location. The bathroom shower and the kitchen area was extremely small and the bed was not very comfortable. You don't have the option of chosing your apartment so it depends on your luck. You have to call the real estate agent a few days before your arrival to schedule a meeting time and location. The apartment did not have air conditioning or a fan and the streets were to loud to open the window at night, so avoid summer months. Also the water begins to smell in the hot summer months. We were there in beginning of June and it was very slight.

“Fantastic location but what a shame about the accommodation”

Venice is always going to be expensive and prove difficult to find the right accommodation. With very little detail provided on the apartment we were trusting a little to fate. However although the location was very good the apartment was a surprise and not in a good way. The problem is that there is only one window to the outside world and that is fraught because the shutters do not fold flush to the wall and project too far out. The other two windows open into someone else's space as does the vent to the bathroom. We did not mind that it was basic. It was perfectly adequate for two people but the inability to bring daylight and fresh air into the space is unacceptable. For this reason I cannot recommend taking this apartment.
