“Will book this hotel upon return...”
The hotel was not too hard to find. Was greeted by very polite and professional hotel staff who was very helpful and courteous throughout entire stay. The room was spacious even though we were a family of 5. The location was pretty much the central point of our vacation in Venice. We plan on going back again in a few years, and will book this hotel again. Was a wonderful visit.
“Will definitely stay there again!”
This Hotel is less than 10 mins from the San Marco Piazza. Ours was a family room so it was quite roomy. Informative staff at the reception to book the water taxi, opera, shows, etc. Overall was a good stay and will definitely go back there again.
“Would stay again”
Room was very small, but that's Venice. Very clean and everyone at the front desk was extremely helpful.
“Small, but hey, it's Venice!”
Everything is expensive in Venice -- hotels, restaurants, coffee, etc. The Ateneo hotel is fine as long as your expectations are reasonable. Our room was small but served us well. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is very good. One suggestion: put up some shower curtains! Is it common in Venice that a tub with a shower head on a hose not have a shower curtain? How do you keep the floor dry? Anyway, we'd probably stay there again unless money was no object.
“Best location to stay in Venezia”
Location is great, and extrimly frendly personel. Brecfast is not well organized and poor choice. Room is very clean and cozy. I will recomend this Hptell to my frend.
“Good option for budget-conscious traveller”
This will not be your ideal romantic getaway spot. However, it is a great choice if you would like to stay at a lively neighbourhood at an affordable cost. The only thing that disappointed me was the room options. We got a room with free wireless, free mini-bar and late checkout option. It turned out the free wireless was only 1 hour free wireless and late checkout was only 1 hour extension on the regular checkout time!! I regret not finishing the minibar to make up for the other two meager options:p The rooms are small and we didn't have hot water in the morning (it was ok at night though). This is Venice after all, as long as you set your expectations right, you won't be disappointed:)
“Clean and simple”
The hotel is very central to everything and accessible direct by water taxi from the train station. The reception is nothing short of great. She was very helpful and nothing was a problem. The rooms are very clean but VERY small and our view was of a void between the buildings. The breakfast was good but limited and the breakfast room was very small. Overall the hotel was good for the price.
“A hotel clearly in need of attention.”
This hotel could potential be lovely with some modernisation, love and attention. In fact it is a poorly run hotel that is now tatty and unkempt. The staff seem overworked, the quality of the breakfast is poor and the rooms are dingy. No hot water in our room for two days of our stay. All in all very disappointing indeed.
“too small”
Even for 2 people, the room was too much small, we had to move the frigedaire to get bathroom. Any space to sit. The service was ok but the room has to be reviewed.

San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
