Property Amenities
The San Cassiano Ca'Favretto is the only Grand Canal palazzo previously owned by a Venetian artist. Home to Giacomo Favretto, one of the city's favorite painters during the second half of the 19th-century, lively pictures of Venice and its subjects are dotted all around the hotel, giving it an artsy, bohemian atmosphere. Arriving by water taxi to the canal-level front door, this red-painted 14th-century palace on the Grand Canal is a handsome sight. The pedestrian entrance, reached via quiet residential alleyways, features a small open courtyard with stone columns and a well planted with a tree. The reception is a dramatic, high-ceilinged, covered courtyard with original beams, huge chandeliers, a large Venetian flag and artworks.
The San Cassiano Ca'Favretto has a terrace and breakfast room providing romantic waterfront views. A complimentary hot and cold buffet breakfast is served each morning. The hotel also has a typical Venetian bar a collection of precious Murano glass figures. Just off here is a small salon with green-baize covered card tables. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a drink on a small terrace outside directly overlooking the Grand Canal.
Multilingual staff on the 24-hour front desk can exchange currency, offer information on Venice, and help book tours and tickets.

“Great hotel in a good location”
the hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto is a great hotel. good location about 10 minutes walk from the Rialto overlooking the Grand Canal. our room was clean and comfortable . The front desk staff were very helpful and welcoming. we had pre booked a three day pass to cover the airport transfers but didn't realise that this did not include the local water buses . The pass also included a museum pass and entry to churches. entry to St Marks is free, you just pay extra for the treasury and the terrace, both of which we had to pay extra for. Entry to the Campanile was not covered by our pass. So beware - the three day package is not such a great dea as we had thought. For the return to the airport, to be within the 72 hours would have meant leaving the city far earlier than we needed, so we had a water taxi which was great. My advice would be to prebook a one way bus to get to your hotel, then have a look at a taxi for the return. we had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend Venice for a city break. It certainly gets crowded at the main tourist sites, but it's easy to get away from the crowds.
“Venice March 2011”
The hotel was lovely, and the room had a bath as well as a shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. It would have been nice to have tea-making facilities in the room. Cutlery at breakfast was limited (one knife for cooked breakfast and buttering toast, one teaspoon for tea and yoghurt) but the breakfast room overlooked the Grand Canal, so an lovely experience.
“Beautiful, quaint hotel”
This is a wonderful hotel that is perfectly situated to see this magical city. We had an amazing canal view room (#105 I think) that was huge and beautiful. We had two gigantic windows that opened up onto the Grand Canal and we spent hours watching boats go by. Venice is a fun place to just wander and explore and this is a perfect place to accomplish that. The included breakfast buffet was great and the staff were wonderful. We loved every aspect of our stay and highly recommend it.
“Fantastic hotel & location”
The hotel was excellent, if a little difficult to find when we first arrived. The staff were very friendly and the setting was very peaceful and relaxing. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Venice.
“Perfectly situated quiet hotel”
The hotel is centrally sitiuated a few hundred yards from the Rialto bridge. The rooms are clean and well furnished and the breakfast more than adequate. Staff were very helpful. If you don't arrive by water taxi, then it can be a bit of a challenge to find, keep your eyes open for the hotel signs.

“Excellent hotel slightly off the beaten track.”
We loved this hotel. It's off the beaten track in Santa Croce but only 5 minutes from the Rialto markets. We opted for a Grand Canal room which was well worth it - big room, high ceilings, picture windows overlooking the canal - fabulous! Bathroom clean and adequate. Air conditioning worked. Breakfast ok - small breakfast room which only just managed at peak times. Daytime staff incredibly helpful and friendly.Evening staff less so - our only complaint. Small outside seating area on the Grand Canal just perfect for early/ late evening drinks or afternoon tea! The fourth time we have been to Venice and will definitly book this hotel again.
“Great hotel on the Grand Canal”
Beautiful hotel in a great location on the Grand Canal. Room was small, but very well appointed and comfortable. Close to the fish market and the Rialto Bridge. Lots of great restaurants in the vicinity. Feels quiet and off the beaten track, yet is still close to all the sights. Recommended.
“Beautiful View”
Our family of 4 fit comfortably in the upgraded room that was given to us when we arrived. Breakfast was excellent - arrive early though. Sitting on the balconies overlooking the Grand Canal was a relaxing break from the bustle of sightseeing. Being able to watch the lightening storm from our window facing the Grand Canal in the early morning hours when Venice was just awakening was amazing.
“Wonderful,friendly,helpful staff.”
This was a fantastic hotel and I shall certainly go back. The staff were multi-lingual,friendly,efficient,beautifully groomed and jolly! I speak fluent Italian and they were the only Italians in Venice who spoke Italian with me as everyone else insisted on speaking not so fluent English! It is well located but away from the crowds:walking distance to Rialto(10mins) and St Mark's Square(15mins),both sign posted.Rialto is a great area. The small hotel terrace on the canal is perfect for an afternoon tea. My single room was very small with a view of the building opposite but clean & comfortable & one does not go to Venice to stay in the hotel! Breakfast was good with lots of choice.I did not have to wait for a table nor did I see anyone have to wait.Simple answer is do not breakfast too late! Getting there tip: Search hotel name on internet & go to their website to print a map of how to get there from San Stae waterbus stop. When you arrive at the airport buy an ACTV bus&waterbus pass for the days you are staying. You MUST validate the ticket in the machine on the bus.Get the 5 bus to Piazza le Roma(30mins).It terminates there & you see immediately the canal.Take the no.1 waterbus line to San Stae (10mins).At San Stae infront of the big church take the small steps on the left and read your map from the website. It will take you 5mins to find the hotel. Near the hotel there are signs too.It was that easy! Enjoy!
