“Wonderful pre xmas trip.....”
Stayed here for the weekend before xmas. This hotel is excellent. Staff are very happy and the breakfast is first class for what is essentially a buffet breakfact. Would recommend this to anyone no questions asked. Thanks.
“This hotel should be duplicated!”
Very friendly staff: made reservation for us and helped with directions, recommendations & so.. Room was spacious, clean & comfortable. View from our room (and from the breakfast hall) was amazing: facing the Cathedral though still keeping the quiet upon closing of the window. Breakfast was tasty and contained more than several options. Location, location, location!!
“Would definitely go back”
The hotel was right in the middle of vienna, opposite St.Stephans Dom. The underground station was right outside the hotel which was ideal. The staff were helpful, friendly and all spoke fluent english. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. For me and my wife we could not fault anything.
“Great hotel, great city”
Excellent hotel, well decorated, with very helpful staff and in a great location in the centre of Vienna. More than adequate breakfast buffet and within easy walking distance of many sights and a large number of cafes and restaurants. I would certainly go back to this hotel in the future.
“Perfect Location, Perfect Hotel”
Just got back from our trip to Austria, and stayed 3 nights at Hotel Am Stephenplatz. It was perfect from the time we checked in till the day we checked out. Our room, standard with twin beds, was larger than I expected for a European hotel. There was a small refrigerator in the room and a large bathroom. Big towels and washcloths. The daily breakfast buffet was included in the price, and was very good. The breakfast room/bar is located on the first floor (not the ground floor) and overlooked the entrance to St. Stephans Cathedral. Good restaurants were recomended to us by the front desk staff. One thing important for me is a plug by the bed, I have to use a CPAP machine, and there was. Room and hotel looked new, nothing was worn, clean. We were surprised how quiet our room was, didn't hear people around us or from the outside busy area. Highly recommend.
“Best hotel for location and value”
We loved this hotel: best location in front of St. Stephens Cathedral. We watched tourists while having sumptuous breakfast every morning. Everything ( Opera House, shopping district, museums ) was a 5-10 minute walk, including the River Danube. Stephansplatz is the " in " square where street performers and tourists alike gather at night. The room was impeccably neat, front desk staff were very attentive and accomodating. Hotel lobby is small but unpretentious and very nicely decorated. I consider Hotel Am Stephansplatz a 5 * hotel for value, service and location, and will highly recommend to everybody.
“Excellent location and superb breakfast”
Location couldn't be better, opposite the cathedral and with many sites within walking distance (and a metro stop outside the hotel for those that aren't). Our room was very comfortable with a wonderful bathroom, and we loved having a separate WC. The best part of the hotel was the plentiful, organic and absolutely delicious breakfast. You couldn't think of anything else to have (and the sparkling wine and squeezing your own orange juice are particularly nice touches). Loved it.
“Cant wait to go back”
Best location. Exelent service. Very good room.
“Location and a little luxury”
The hotel is simple to find: walk out of the Stephansplatz metro, and there it is, in the middle of the big square. The entrance is down a side street. This is a little more than I normally pay for hotels, but after traveling for two weeks and hiking in the mountains, I needed a little pampering. The most important element of that for me: a bathtub. I was so happy to see it, as well as the welcoming bottle of peach-flavored water and complimentary chocolate left out for me. The room was small but perfectly outfitted. The breakfast was amazing. I sat looking out at Stephansplatz as I took my choice of just about anything you could imagine, including hot eggs and meats, cereals, fruits, yogurt, breads, half-oranges cut for you to make fresh orange juice (machine right there), and even little bottles of champagne. The location is perfect. Most site are walkable, but if you're tired, the metro is right there. I arrived and left by train, and it was a simple matter to get there on the metro.
“Fantastic hotel, fantastic location”
I can only endorse all the praise for this hotel from all the other reviewers. It has obviously been recently refurbished to an extremely high standard with great attention to detail, which is continued in the day-today running. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast is just great. The location couldn't be better, all the sites of Vienna are within walking distance, I believe just 56 steps to the Stephansdom cathedral. There are numerous restaurants and bars within minutes walk. If you want to travel further afield the underground is just outside the door. Despite being in the very heart of Vienna the rooms are very quiet. This hotel is privately owned and just goes to show what can be achieved when there is no "corporate standard" to be adhered to as in the numerous chains.
