“Honest and convenient”
Wonderfull for those who want a "clean-no-frill " lodging. We were lucky to have one of the very large suite , although part of the furniture was in very bad condition ( drawers missing on a desk...). Ten minutes to the train (White-Plains) leading to New York Grand Central. Would go again for a next trip in the area. Will recomend. Thanks.
“Good price, not much ameneties.”
I was looking to book a Hotel to accommodate someone who smoked and this is the reason I chose Saw Mill River. Over all is was a good room for the price I paid! It was quiet and in a area convenient to most of the main roads. Alot of construction workers stayed there because it was very economical. This trip was an emergency and last minute decision and was not intended to be recreational, so for those reasons worked well ! Otherwise, I probably would have been looking for a place with ameneties. My sisters and I were there for a funeral of a relative who lived most of their life there raising his family in the nearby area.
“If you're looking for a low rate”
If you're looking for a low rate and are willing to sacrifice up to date decor, this could be the place. My room had 2 stuffed chairs, a TV set, a table and two chairs (for eating), a small refrigerator, a micro-wave, and a very comfortable queen size bed. The plumbing fixtures were new, cheap but new, and the AC/heating unit worked quietly and efficiently. "Tired" decor and a few crumbs on the floor were a tolerable sacrifice for the location and price combination.
“good value”
We enjoyed a good night's sleep.
“White Plains stay”
Room was fine, bathroom was clean, but TV was totally screwed up and that is the entertainment for the night. Did report it to desk clerk upon check out.
“convenient”
not the decadence you may want, but its close enough to the lovely town of tarry that one does'nt really care, if your looking for a inexpensive over night.
“Minimal but adequate for a good night's sleep.”
Room was large, King bed firm, clean. One overstuffed chair, two upholstered armchairs with casters, two all-wood chairs at a card-table sized eating table, one dorm-sized refrigerator, a microwave. Main dresser had top drawers missing, but there was a low dresser with two drawers under the window. We were traveling light and did not need any drawer space. Table lamp had outlet for computer charger etc. Double glazed windows made it reasonably quiet despite location immediately adjacent to Sawmill River Parkway. Only coffee was offered for breakfast, in the office lobby, not in room. Only one plastic drinking cup was provided. Soap, shampoo and towels were sufficient. No electric alarm clock. TV was functional. Room was billed as non-smoking, and was odor-free. One rod for pulling the curtain was not attached; manual pulling was sufficient. We stayed on a Friday night only; there were not a lot of guests. I would call it a good value for the money; all other motels this close to my destination were more expensive by $10-50.
“Cost Effective, but Oddly Located & Furnished Rooms.”
Huge room, strange furniture arrangement that I had to juggle to make comfortable, but it had a microwave & mini-fridge in the room, essential items on a tight budget business trip. Near a highway entry ramp & eighborhood not the best, but it's cheap enough to tolerate!
“Above Average if your expectations are low”
Picture a 1970s era quickly-built hotel right off the Sawmill Parkway. Now picture what it might look like for room decoration and ammenities if it were never upgraded. For us, it was staying in a random apartment from our college days. To continue the word picture, install a lovely but overwhelmed couple, whose first language is not English, to run the place. Also do not provide them with any experiences or training about modern hotel management (such as don't knock an hour before check-out with room cleaning service) and upgrades which customers now come to expect - upgrades such as fresh new caulk (versus caulk needed to close the gaps by the tub at floor), and a tightly-seated toilet (versus one which moved so much we were afraid it would detach from the floor). For my husband (a builder) and myself (who manages a rental cottage) we noticed too much amiss to be comfortable and at ease. Who would like the large room we stayed in which had a mirror covering almost the whole wall opposite the bed? (unsettling feng shui) Someone who just needed a lower cost place to sleep who didn't care about anything except sleeping.
“Not clean, Ok for overnight stay only”
We went for 1 night stay, the place was dirty with bad smell although the staff was friendly and helpful. No breakfast, only free ice and coffee.
