“Would consider staying again”
Hotel was clean. Room was adequate size (not big but not too small for 2 people). Bathroom was roughly finished (sloppy caulking, damaged wall) but clean and plenty of hot water and such. No high speed internet was surprising for a place this size. Front desk people not very helpful when asking directions but could have been the individual I spoke to.
“Lots of bang for your buck”
Since you're not really in your room that much when on a ski vacation, this hotel was perfect. Not that it was bad whatsoeer. It was clean, quaint, and completely inexpensive. We had a studio with fireplace. The kitchen was stocked with full amenties...pots, pans, coffee, wine glasses, etc. I recommend a room with a fireplace. We fell asleep each night listening to the fire crackle with the room a glow. Very nice. Firewood is dirt cheap here as well. Outdoor hot tub and heated pool were nice, but a little less couple-friendly and more kid/family oriented, but it was fine. The resort is across the street from Sol Vista and 15 min from Winter Park. I would definitely go back. Way cheaper than Vail, Copper, etc.
“Great second night”
Almost everything was fine, the only problem was the first night when kids were running up and down the hallways and the neighbor room was making excessive noise. We were moved the next morning to room on an upper floor and had a great quiet rest of the time, Thanks Mal
“Older Hotel but Staff and Location Great”
Some reviewers have been overly negative about the age and condition of the hotel. Yes, it's older and the elevator creaks a bit, and the tub has stains, but it was perfectly adequate if you're looking for a nice hotel while skiing. Pool was freezing (but it IS February and most of the pool's outside). Hot tubs were huge and hot. There was some late night noise - but this has been true of just about every hotel I've ever stayed at. The in-house restaurant wasn't very good. Towels thin and frayed. However, I'd recommend the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful (even offering coupons to local attractions and restaurants), and it's location was great - only 5 minutes drive from Solvista ski lodge. I was satisfied with my 2-night stay with my 10 year-old.
“Stay in Grand Lake”
This hotel is clean, etc, but very noisy! Paper thin walls. Very little food in available in the entire town. Stay in Grand Lake where you have lots of restaurants and activities.
“Good spot for a home base”
The place was right on the ski slope - we were using it as a base camp for hiking and golf, so it was great for us. The quality of the bedding, tv and other amenities was fair to poor however, so it is not a luxury spot!
“not impressed silver creek, co 2010”
room very small - stains on carpet, bathtub old and inadequate
“Aging fast”
We stayed in a King room and it was pretty cramped. The walls were thin and did not protect from noise in hall and other rooms. The property looked like it has not been maintained very well recently. We were there in the summer, they may gear up more for the winter.
“Showing Its Age”
Realizing this is more geared toward the resort traveler, I stayed here on business paying an approximate 40% premium to have a little nicer place to stay with an internet connection. There are generally no publicly available internet connections in the rooms themselves, although there appears to be many secured connections in various time-share units, and probably an available one in the lobby. Hotel room was not overly large, but as expected for a resort time-share. I did not stay in a suite with kitchenette or equivalent. Significant sediment in all the plumbing and even after running for awhile, you still had to wait and let water settle out before sipping from the top. Alternative water supply (even bottled) would have been nice. Plumbing fixtures appear original from the 80's including whirlpool tub. Would be leery of trying that one. Bathroom was full of cobwebs and some joints probably had an inch of caulk filling the gaps. Coworker said her room was not as bad. Room was not so terrible that I would not stay again, but because of the premium, would probably try another place first.
“spend your money on a good sleeping bag & stay in your car”
Booked sight unseen on internet-big mistake-noncancellable. Dirty, in poor repair. Carpet dangerously worn. No air conditioning. No internet access. No lobby coffee. Small room for the price. "On-site" restaurant unexplainably closed for dinner 7/3 and brkf 7/4..no other food purveyors within miles. Haven't watched such a small TV screen since college days. No VCR/DVD/movies. Desk couldn't print a receipt-computer broken.
