“Would not hesitate to recommend”
The Blue was an excellent stay at a fancy hotel that was well priced.
“Good for weekend.”
The Blue is in a great location - right on the water and next to the Botanic Gardens - a great spot for a run or walk. I was pleasantly surprised with the bird life in the Gardens. The Blue has a well sized room and bathroom with comfy bed and pillows. Everything is expensive - wireless is $15/day, bottled water $7 from mini bar, etc but the comfort of the room and space available was quite nice. Close to Potts Point for good brunch/food and close enough to downtown but still quiet enough not to feel like we are right in the city buzz. Stay are very friendly and accomodating.
“Very chic and well-located”
Very cool location on a renovated wharf in an up-and-coming part of town -- kind of like Sydney's TriBeCa. Generally excellent service -- the only faults I found were one missed wake-up call (luckily not urgent) and an out-of-order elevator connecting to the pool, which required a walk on the street and a little searching to find the side entrance. But reception staff were extremely helpful and gave good recommendations for places to eat, etc. Worth the expense. I'd stay there again easily.
“W Sydney”
My sister and I used the W Sydney as our stopping point between trips we took while in Australia. We stayed four different times in one month. Because of this we had the opportunity to stay in multiple rooms. The third floor rooms with the two double beds were the best. The hotel staff was always great. They were courteous, had excellent suggestions for restaurants and entertainment and went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable. The hotel itself is incredible. It is on a pier and many of the rooms have water views. The swimming pool and hot tub were secluded and offered a nice escape and a chance to relax. The bathrooms were large and spacious and many have an oversized bathtub. Anything that could be needed was available. The location is also great. The Royal Botanical Gardens are just a 10-minute walk away. There were a couple of negatives, but they are very minor compared to everything else. The two story rooms are small and do not have many windows, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. The food was mediocre at best.
“I wish I lived here!”
We loved this hotel. It is within walking distance, sometimes short walks, sometimes long, of what we wanted to see in Sydney. Sydney is a great walking city for a traveler with diverse interests. It seems to be a city that grew without much of a plan so is a bit helter-skelter but that adds to the interest and charm. The hotel is adjacent to the Sydney Botanical Gardens, Art Museum, Central Business District, The Rocks, Harbor Bridge, lots of coffee houses and restaurants. It is not a gigantic tourist resort hotel. The restaurants on site were great but expensive. Food in Sydney is very expensive. We would just set out in the morning and walk, always knowing that if we could find the botanical gardens we could find our hotel. The rooms are stylish and extremely well appointed. High quality bedding and amenities. We loved the contrast between the restored warehouse with it's gigantic mechanical and battered beam contstruction and the sleek decor of the hotel rooms. We would definitely go back, but this time for a longer stay.
“Lovely location on a pier”
Liked the room very much even though it is somewhat small. It was easy to get to city by walking 10 minutes. Walking through the botantical gardens is very pleasant and you can end up at the opera house within 20 minutes. Not that close to any subways or trains for access to other areas especially if you are carrying a bag. If you want to the airport the fare is around $40 as driver charges more than the meter says. They were very good about keeping a bag until we returned to the city. The restaurants on the quay are very good but also very expensive. As it appears this is a favorite location for locals and travellers book ahead. There are a couple of restaurants across the street which are cheaper for breakfast. Would return.
“Great Location”
This was a great hotel. We found out on the Sydney Harbor Bridge Tour that this is the largest wooden structure in the Southern Hemishpere. This was not in the advertisement and was cool to stay in such a place. We had some noise from a party in the lobby, but they hotel staff gave a good compensation for it. It was a nice place to stay and very convienent to the downtown area by cab and walking.
“Don't miss this if you're in Sydney”
Great staff, great location. This is a very cool hotel, you'll be greeted by outstanding people at the door, the rooms are fantatstic and the space is amazing. I feel like a shill, but I'm struggling to think of any way it could be improved. I guess I didn't try the food there, but the staff were so helpful in finding other (excellent) restaurants, it was a little tough. I'll be staying there again.
“great cannot wait to go back”
great
“Good Sydney Hotel”
I found Blue Hotel to be a pleasant place to stay. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful; they accommodated an unexpected early arrival, a slightly late departure, and other events with pleasant efficiency. The room was nice, clean, and had a good view of downtown. The incidentals (e.g., internet) were somewhat pricey, but tolerable. The location was good for me; right by the water, not in downtown Sydney but only 10 minutes walk away.
