“Great place to stay”
Great very tradional hotel. Very good value
“back into historic times, with a charm”
this little hotel is a gem, it puts you back in time, and makes you feel home and comfortable. would horses pull more carriages up the street, you would not wonder.
“Good place to stay.”
We recently stayed at this hotel because everything in Yosemite was full. We stayed in the main building and it was good value for the money. The restaurant opposite the hotel turned out to be quite good too. So if you are looking for a place to stay with a local atmosphere this is not bad!
“Nice cozzy hotel and great value”
This is a nice hotel. The room was clean and the bed was confortable to sleep on. The front desk staff was very friendly. They have a nice library area where I pick out a book and was able to relax in the back garden.
“Retro relaxation”
We chose this hotel as a stopover short stay which we hoped would give us a taste of laid back, small town America in period surroundings. It didn't disappoint. A good mix of yesteryear decor with modern amenities and comfort. Perhaps a bit tired round the edges but that just added to the authenticity. Very enjoyable evenings relaxing with a drink or two on the balcony above Jamestown Main Street. Very friendly and helpful host. Loved it! As we Scots might say - "Pure dead brilliant!"
“Great bed & breakfast”
The room was great. and the service was really nice.
“The Strong and the Weak”
We enjoy staying in vintage hotels whenever on vacations. Located in the heart of Jamestown we were close to many attractions including Railtown, Columbia, the Mother Lode, and Calavares County wineries. Being a hotel from the 1800s, the rooms are small and not sound proofed. But, we've come to expect that from many old places. Hosts were friendly and helpful, We've paid twice the price in this area with no better service and accomodations. If you're looking for a little nostalgia to go with you Mother Lode experience, you can't beat the price, location and quiant atmosphere.
“Quaint Place to Stay In Wonderful Jamestown”
This is a cool old place with lots of charm. Some people had mixed reviews - but really guys - this is a historic building, so no - the rooms aren't as big as a new hotel - but there's a nice lobby you can hang out in or you can sit on the front porch in a swing for two or enjoy the patio on the back. Who really wants to sit in their room. The new managers were friendly and probably have some new ideas. Complainers obviously wanted to have five star service for one star price. We'll be back for sure.
“Great stay, we almost missed it1”
I read other reviews and we almost stayed somewhere else. Glad I ignored them. We wanted the atmosphere this old Hotel had to offer and we loved it. Our luggage consisted of the regular 2 overnight bags but also 2 Victorian Ladies costumes each with 6 layers of underskirts and over Satin skirts and 2 large hat boxes. The size of the room was fine. The hostelers were very curtious and encouraged our fun to the lamplighter tour in Columbia. The stair case had perfectly comfortable stairs for our huge costumes and added to the experiance of our Victorian evening celebration. We will stay here again and through Expedia that had all the I'sdotted and t's crossed.
“Cozy Place, Great Service”
We stayed here as an alternative to camping in Yosemite to hike the following day. After telling the front desk that we would be doing the hike, she prepared sandwiches for us, knowing we couldn't make breakfast the following morning. The room was very cozy, but if you can, try getting a room that doesn't face the street since there were some loud people that stayed up late. Aside from that, the location is just about an hour away from Yosemite and we had a comfortable stay.
