This was a good value hotel with pleasant staff & a good cooked breakfast included in the price. We knew when we booked it that there was nothing walkable nearby & that wasn’t a problem. We visited Cragside, Amble, Seahouses & Druridge Bay other places. Close proximity to A1 but didn’t hear any road noise. Lovely views over open fields from the bedroom with the sea & Bamburgh castle in the distance. Rooms were clean & had everything we needed. Stayed 2 nights & were very happy with our stay overall.

Dog friendly, staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Good portion sizes and food was lovely. Clean tidy room and bed was very comfortable. We could see miles across the fields to the sea from our room with Bamburgh castle visible on the horizon. Just lovely area. Very convenient location.

A very dated property, cleanliness & DIY jobs not up to task. Food was decidedly average, not sure why such high reviews, especially for the cost. Only positive is that it's a good location for tourist attractions.

I had a short stay for a friends wedding. Very convenient location with the venue a few miles away. Had a nice 5 star breakfast which cured my hangover once consumed.

Was a little worried when first arrived and realised it was directly next to A1 but need not have worried, very quiet, excellent location to go and do the sites and the food was good

Lovely little lodge. Bit needs more staff the poor girl on her own was run off her feet doing everything. From clean, bar reception serve food. Could have done with someone to help her

It is perfectly placed for visiting Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. Also, as a stop over on a long journey. Although on the A1 it is very convenient and very quiet.

The staff were friendly and nothing was trouble for them . Clean and food good for the money just needs a bit of a spruce up as some parts look bit tired .

Super dog friendly!!
We stayed for 2 nights with our little dog. We loved how dog friendly Purdy Lodge is. We were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner with her which really meant alot to us. Purdy Lodge understand that some people do not like dogs so there are 2 seating areas, one for dog owners and the other for non dog people. This made us even more comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly and also extremely busy. The room was lovely with a nice view down to the sea and Bamburgh Castle. The hotel is very conveniently located just off the A1 which makes getting to places very easy. I expected to hear road noise in the hotel, but didnt hear it at all. We'll definitely be back. I'd recommend Purdy Lodge to anyone, especially those who, like us, see their dog as part of the family.

Had a meal in the restaurant and it was awful, not one member of staff came to check if things were okay or did they come and ask if we needed more drinks, desert, nothing , missed out on upselling to at least 3 other customers. When I went to pay bill and said my meal was unedable ( dry ,tough and chewy chicken!!) The staff literally just looked at each other and presented me with my bill and said nothing.

Beautiful Area
Very convenient location. Hot weather and so the room was very hot at night as we couldn’t open the window but otherwise very good with a nice breakfast. Staff were excellent despite being extremely busy.

We have stayed here a few times now & everytime our visit has been excellent. The staff are very friendly & attentive. Breakfast had a very good choice either a healthy option or the traditional breakfast which we had & thoroughly enjoyed.

Generally speaking, this was great value for money and incredibly close to Alnwick castle and Bamburgh castle. The staff were always very polite and helpful. The only main gripe I had was it looked like the cleaning staff didn't have a vacuum cleaner. The floor of the dining area would still have dirt on it from the evening meal the night before and even though our room had been cleaned twice during our stay, there were small stones at the foot of our bed on the floor that were there when we arrived and still there when we left. One other gripe was the spoons for tea, or yoghurt, they seemed to have a limited supply and they were often dirty. My wife and I often had to stir our tea with a spoon and then wipe it off and use it for a yoghurt. Still, I would highly recommend Purdy Lodge for a stay, I just wish they would clean a little better.

Fabulous hotel for overnight stay on long trip north. Literally on A1 yet very quiet during the night and bedroom view over fields to the sea. Excellent breakfast.

Good value for money
We cannot fault the service and breakfast was excellent. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel could do with updating a little.
