1st Sister trip
Sister trip, we only speak English, the hotel manager spoke no English. They had WiFi so our translator App was helpful. Place was clean, staff was nice, no elevator though, so the two 40/+ pound luggage were abitof a task!! But it’s all about the experience, great stories and memories!!

Clean, minimalist, budget hotel in a good location
Perfect location-easy to get-to from the Catania Airport, the main bus terminal and the train station. The bus terminal and the train stations are within easy walking distance.Very clean, comfortable and spacious for a two-star accommodation. Breakfast may feel lacking but I didn't mind it as I had yogurt and coffee. Yusef (sp?), the old gentleman who looks after the hotel, is very kind and helpfult. There is no elevator so taking anything bigger than a carry-on size may be a challenge, but not a big deal. Corridor noise carries through to the rooms but once the guests are asleep, it is very quiet. I stayed three nights and found the location and comfort level to be quite good. The room I stayed had an A/C (working). Good basic, budget, minimalist and clean accommodation.

Insight into nobler Sicilian family accommodation
Proprietor could not speak any English at all. No problem until we had plumbing difficulties. These were sorted out, but no apology, probably because no language skill. Residents should be made aware that the hotel is on the top floor or a four storey, old building, with no lift. No advert or nameplate outside to show it is a Hotel. Room was big, airy, light, very clean, lovely soft sheets, simply furnished. Breakfast rather minimal and all sweet, as seems to be the Sicilian way. Location great for the high class shopping streets, but also on edge of much more run down area. Good for station and bus station. Bus stop 200 metres away, for Airport bus at municipal, low, price. Overall very good value for what we paid.

budget hotel with adorable owner
We stayed here on our last night in Sicily before taking the Alibus back to the airport. We specifically chose this hotel because it is right next to an Alibus stop and we inexpensive. You definitely get what you pay for, so you should have realistic expectations. It's clearly not in the city center, but this was not a priority for us. If you want to go back and forth from the city center, this is not a good hotel for you (but we knew this when we made the reservation). The room itself was acceptable (very impressive high ceiling, AC worked well), but with some problems (shower need some work, toilet using a sort of pump system is less than efficient and requires several flushes, hair dryer that did not blow hot air). You should come here just to see the owner who is part of a dying breed: he speaks no English (but this is not a problem -- in Italy people speak Italian, so learn some basic phrases), he's probably 75 years old (and I'm not saying this as a bad thing), all his reservations are noted in an ancient tome by hand, instead of bifocals he just wears two pairs of glasses, and during check in, he insisted on showing us EVERYTHING (how to turn on the TV, the AC, how to unlock and lock the door...), but we both found this owner charming and authentic.

Éloigné du centre et accès métro fermé à 21h. Petit déjeuner bien médiocre et inexistant le matin du depart. 2 étages à monter avec les bagages.

Good for what it was
We got there late at night for one nights stay and the hotel was fine for that purpose. An old man that doesn't speak english works in the reception and helps with breakfast in the morning. Despite the language barrier everything worked fine. Everything looks like the pictures. Bed was better than expected. The hotel is located on a very busy street so ear plugs are recommended. Close to restaurants and stores. There was no hot water in the shower. The ceiling was impressively high!
