It’s an alright resort. Nothing fancy but had the basic amenities and facilities. I found it lacking in cleanliness as the pool chair would always be filled with leaves. The Rasa pool is way more gorgeous but far away from the bar. The staff service were a hit and miss. Some went beyond their way to help. Others would watch you wander around looking for a bathroom for 5 mins before helping. I didn’t ask them for help because they were deep in conversation and I hadnt realised the worked there. Food at the Ferringhi Grill for Valentine’s day was slow and came cold even. On top of that, we picked this particular Valentine’s venue because it promised live jazz. It was just a live band. I’d suggest not to waste your money on the food in the resort. You will get better else where. The dinner buffet is repetitive and the beach restaurant overcooks their steak. The breakfast buffet is great though, good range of food but if you come early in the morning expect cold food as turn over is low and there warmers don’t work. If I was back in Penang I would probably come back to this resort but the resort is definitely not in spirit of the Shangri-La brand.
