This park is teeming with exotic species of birds, which you can hand feed, take photos of or simply admire.

A landscaped haven for those with feathers, Jurong Bird Park is perennially popular with Singapore's visitors. It boasts over 5,000 birds, making it one of the largest attractions of its kind in the world. Inspired by the zoological garden in Rio de Janeiro, Jurong Bird Park was established in 1971, and has been educating and delighting ever since. Additionally, the park is involved in protecting endangered species of birds.

Trams wend their way though the park, with drivers enlightening passengers on the various species. You can alight at the different aviaries to do your own exploring. There's a lot to take in, so don't be rushed – families often spend the entire day here.

Among favourite stop-off points in Jurong Bird Park is Dinosaur Descendants (which is inhabited by the likes of ostriches and emus), Pelican Cove (all seven species of pelican can be found here), Penguin Coast (where the popular black and white birds live inside a fake Portuguese galleon) and World of Darkness (where nocturnal birds such as owls and night herons live). Lory Loft, meanwhile, has been painstakingly created to have the exact ambiance of a rainforest valley in north Australia. The Lory Loft aviary contains over 1,000 free-flying lories. Get your hands on some nectar mix, and watch the cute birds feed from your hand.

Three different shows are staged for visitors throughout the day at Jurong Bird Park. Watch eagles and hawks wheel overhead during the Kings of the Skies show. Speak with colourful characters at the Lunch with the Parrots show. Or marvel at the largest number of birds in a single performance (including pelicans, flamingos and mimicking cockatoos) at the High Flyers show.

Jurong Bird Park is located in Jurong, which is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Singapore. There is plenty of on-site parking. Public buses head out to the park on a regular schedule. Jurong Bird Park is open every day and there is a mid-range entrance price.
