The place is really great. However I booked this place and paid the premium price because I thought it had a buffet, bars, pool and beach front. I was here in 2019 and it had all of that. Now there is none of that.

This is a very nice hotel with its own access to the beach. The rooms are well designed and spacious, and look out on a beautiful jungle. The area is quiet but has goo range of restaurants within a ten minute walk. The property looks like it has not yet recovered from the pandemic, and parts of it appear abandoned (including the beach access). The staff seem more cost conscious for this reason as well, and the attention to ensuring amenities is not always consistent. But overall these are minor complaints and I highly recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful 5 nights here. We booked the beachfront villas which were well worth the money. The view was incredible, also lovely to have a jacuzzi on your balcony to relax in privacy of your own room, however its a shame its only cold water. Staff were generally always friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be to have friendlier / staff with better English in the moonlight bar. This is a fantastic space but unfortunately was always quiet and just lacked some enthusiasm to get the guests to drink and attend this area. The area itself is very quiet, a little bit of a walk to some local eats which is fine. Otherwise suggest hiring a scooter during your time to get about easily. Hotel restaurant was fairly well priced for food and drinks and lovely quality. Ocean is lovely to swim in with fairly easy access. the resort pool itself is freezing - no one actually used it except for the random child here and there. All in all would definitely recommend for those wanting to simply relax!

Fabulous stay at Moonlight Exotic Bay
We visited Moonlight resort mid September on our honeymoon and would highly recommend staying here. We extended our stay as we liked the accommodations so much. We have been in Thailand for a month and our dinner at the Moonlight restaurant was the best meal of our entire vacation. I would recommend spending the extra money to get a villa overlooking the ocean. Renting a motor bike from the hotel was super easy and it has been so fun exploring the island.

Lovely place, with very friendly and helpful staff, highly recommend. If you are notbas fit as you used to be, then ask for a chalet lower to the ground. Great breakfast with homemade bread and jam. The chef here loves to cook.

The property has an amazing location! The staff is super friendly and accommodating to what you want to do. Helped booked motorcycle, our ferry off the island. The beach bungalow has an amazing view. Would definitely stay here again.

The atmosphere at the Moonlight resort was great. We enjoyed our stay in the beachfront Villa with soaking tub. Other than that, service was very poor. Avoid eating in the restaurant unless you have at least 2 hours to kill. You may have to wait 30 minutes to receive a drink, menu, the check, etc. I slipped and hit my back getting out of the tub. I called the front desk and they said they would bring me an ice pack. No one ever came. We went into town to buy one at a pharmacy instead. The location is decent between towns and they have a scooter rental right at the front desk. They forgot to charge us for breakfast at checkout AND THEY TRACKED US DOWN THROUGH THE TRANSPORT TO MAKE US PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE. Beware, the staff will turn off the already inadequate air conditioning when they clean your room. We resorted to hiding the remote to keep our room slightly cool in the 95+ degree weather. We loved Koh Lanta and will hopefully get to return to the island but will not return to this hotel.

As a resort that tries to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible, we always turn off the air conditioning in a room if there is no one in it. It doesn't take long for the air conditioning to cool a room down (even a westerly facing beach front room during the hottest period of the year), and "hiding the remote" seems a little irresponsible. We are fairly confident that none of our guests have had to spend over two hours in the restaurant, unless they wanted to. The vast majority of our reviews mention how good the restaurant is. There was a short electrical power-cut when you checked out, which meant that we were unable to check for anything you'd put to your account that morning. We asked you if there was anything you'd put to your account, and you failed to mention your breakfast - we did not "forget" to charge you. Perfect hotel, however, no access to klong kin Beach directly from beach at hotel, you need to walk along the road which can be a little dangerous but torches available in room.

Overall the stay was very pleasant, we got an upgrade when checking in which was nice for our Christmas stay. Korn and Pean on reception and Jack in the restaurant are worth a mention - 5* service from both! The location is quite far from the pier, so I imagine you would need a scooter or taxi to get around the island - although we only had 2 nights at the resort over Xmas eve, and Xmas day so spent the day relaxing on the sunbeds! Lovely private beach, good pool, nice library area to relax in and room was nice and clean with an amazing sea view. Considerations to imporove on: The moon bar opening earlier and providing waiter service around the pool and beach sunbed areas. The gym needs air con - so the windows don’t need to be open. We got attacked by many mosquitoes whilst in the gym because of this! Drinking water machine would be good also! Christmas service: Although many of the guests staying at Moonlight over the Christmas period were European, who celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We felt as though Christmas Day has been forgotten, there was no music playing whilst we ate our dinner, there was no entertainment of any kind (Jack dressed up as santa on Christmas Eve which was great!) Overall the atmosphere for our Christmas dinner was a little slow and sad. A table of American guests next to us took it upon themselves to play their violin and sing their own Christmas songs which did really boost the atmosphere for us.

Lovely hotel and resort. Our room was well appointed and had a wonderful view. We used the pool and gym which were both very comfortable as well. The buffet breakfast had a great mixture of Western breakfast foods like eggs and bacon as well as delicious Thai dishes. The only thing we weren’t too keen on was the location of the resort. While it was right on the water, the beach was very rocky and to walk to other restaurants or shops you would need to walk on the road or take a local taxi (rather than walk along the beach for example). Overall we had a great stay at moonlight!

Peaceful beachfront stay
Stayed in a beachfront villa as the start to our holiday, the goal to relax and recharge. Was lovely and peaceful, and the service friendly. When we notified the reception of an issue with the lock on the sliding window it was rectified quickly and they even checked the neighbouring villas for the same issue. The beach front pool is fairly small and could have been cleaner, as it is sheltered by a lot of trees but at high tide you can navigate the rocks on the beach for a swim in the sea. We took a one hour oil massage, which was very good, while the food and drink in the hotel were of good quality. We didn't take the breakfast so can't comment on that but we did have the berry smoothie with muesli and the green detox smoothie, both very good. Not many restaurants immediately near the villa but a short ride in a tuk tuk, or a 20 minute walk, gave some good options. WiFi good in all areas. Overall, happy with our stay and would recommend

Perfect peace of paradise in Koh Lanta
Everything about our stay here was just perfect. The private beach view was spectacular at sunset and the care package of water each day was just what we needed. The hotel was very quiet (ideal for us!) and totally peaceful. If we ever came back to koh lanta I would book here again in a heartbeat. A good tip would be to use the travel agent opposite the hotel to book your trips (island tours etc) he was really friendly and very fair prices for the service level we got. All in all we couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’s definitely deserving of all the great reviews it has.

Beautiful view, had an ocean view. Room itself was everything we needed. Water every day and tidy of the room if needed. Loved the balcony to watch the thunderstorms. Location was great, was worried but everything (including hospital and such if needed) was only a 5-10 minute walk away. Would go back here for much longer if we could, was sad to leave. Had thunderstorms each day so my only comment would be if the pool could be skimmed out each morning. Swimming with sticks and leaves in the AM but I still swam as it was so refreshing. Also as said before stake claim to your beach chairs early if you want the beach view all day , otherwise other chairs around pool.

Food Poisoning
The hotel itself is beautiful and room great - it is set further down the island away from Saladan Pier which offers serenity but you can easily jump in a tuktuk to the main beaches. HOWEVER, my boyfriend and I got food poisoning from this hotel - we were violently ill for our entire stay and I ended up in a Thai hospital on the island. On check-out we were asked to pay for the bill for the food at the restaurant which made us ill. We had to speak to the manager who demanded we show our hospital notes to prove I had contracted a stomach infection from the food poisoning. Only after this did they reluctantly waive the bill. Considering we didn't leave the hotel during our 3 night stay I would like someone from the hotel to contact me with regards to a refund.

The food was actually amazing. Location was not the best but renting a scooter and going up down the main road in Lanta is a good move. Make sure to eat before 10:00pm...otherwise it’s a ghost town around this hotel.

Clean Hotel - Walkout to Pool
Resort was great, room was great. We stayed in the building with the pool attached and were on the bottom floor so our “deck” walked right into the pool. It was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. Shout out to Ken the manager. We saw him every day and he always had meal recommendations for us. If/when we return to Thailand we will be staying here again.

Fantastic property with an even better location
Absolutely fantastic property, situated right on the beach. We Stayed in the sea view cottage which had an amazing view, and overall a spacious and comfortable room with all the amenities. However it is a bit of a walk up the hill to get to the sea view rooms, but totally worth it The staff was really friendly & eager to help, which is always a plus point Food at the hotel was superb, and a pity we didn't eat there more (reasonably priced for a luxury hotel) Location wise, great local restaurants & bars within walking distance which was very convenient as well. Overall an amazing hotel, reasonably priced, and definitely recommend it!

Awesome stay.
Stayed here for 4 nights on a 60 day Thailand tour and this is the only 5 star we've given. After the 1st night we assumed the hotel was family owned and operated, the staff just interacted like family members - they were not...they just got on well. We stayed in a beachfront villa (don't be cheap - it's well worth the extra $). Breakfast was the standard Southeast Asian buffet (but with bacon). Espresso available for an extra fee. Lunch and supper had great selections at a reasonable fee. Be prepared to wait a little after ordering and SOMETIMES it takes a bit to get your food. But honestly if you came to my house it would probably take me at least 20 minutes to make you cereal :) so what's 20 minutes for a freshly cooked meal. The beach although the shore is rocky turns into sand after the 1st 2 meters or so and has lots of clear spots to enter in safety. This was not a con in my opinion because it was offset by solitude and no loud long boat engines. The resort is centerally located on lanta, however is probably a 1/2km from anything worth wild. Again think solitude. If you want to get around, the hotel offers free bicycles (I saw 2 of them) plus there is a scooter rental spot directly across the street for 200THB per day. DO THIS. RENT SCOOTERS AND DRIVE THE ENTIRE ISLAND. Only real con is the wait time at the restaurant like I mentioned...so just order 20 minutes before your hungry :)

The main issue was that our beds were so unbelievably hard that I was in pain for the next two days and could only sleep an hour all night. Additionally, all 4 of us got food poisoning there after traveling around Thailand for several week. Not sure what happens in that kitchen.

Would rate it a 10 if closer to town
This is a beautiful resort for a honeymoon couple. (I was a solo traveler). It’s beautiful with fabulous views of the sunset and reminds me of an upper scale tree house with great customer service. The restaurant has delicious food, too. I would recommend the units which are oceanfront or with an ocean view, as I heard road noise from the hill top villas. Also, to get to the units from the front desk is a bit of a trek, so if you have mobility issues or cannot climb stairs, this is not the place for you. There are scooter rentals on site. It’s far away from most restaurants and the center of town, so you will end up spending money on taxis if you don’t rent a scooter.

Nice, quiet place
Hotel is beautiful, facilities & rooms are well laid out and all the staff were very nice. Koh Lanta is nice but the location is not close to most things. If you are looking for a quiet place, then you have found it.

Transfer from Krabi Airport was a breeze (hotel sorted it via their Facebook Page). Check in was quick and friendly, Pool View rooms were amazing. The breakfast was what we booked for and we werent dissapointed, the filter coffee is turned up to 11 so even the Scandi's were adding milk. Ideal for snorkeling with reefs infront of the hotel, swimming is best just down the bay. Motorcycle hire was excellent and when an issue arose (fuel tank defect affecting throttle) the bike was swapped for another on the spot, nice! Wifi everywhere! Great staff, very clean and modern rooms, enjoy!

Beautiful place to stay
Amazing place to stay. From check in to check out nothing was to much trouble for the beautiful staff here.The rooms in the pool view are spacious & comfortable wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Don't forget to watch the sunset & swim down the beach it is magnificent . Hopefully this gem stays exactly that a beautiful gem in Lanta.

Hotel is beautiful. In the middle of the hills and next to the beach. Has a cute beach bar as well. Cons: it is a little isolated. Not much around to do if you want to eat outside of the hotel. The beach is rocks so not great for beach access either. Also we had a room with jacuzzi outdoors but the water would only come out cold

Cute little hotel
Nice and comfortable little bungalows, very quiet, staff is very helpful and nice, food at the restaurant is excellent! Very small beach, but lots of long chairs and a nice pool. It is a bit far from everything, but you can rent a scooter or take a taxi /tuk tuk to other places.
