The limestone cliffs from the property around the pool were awsome and striking! The hotel was nice and the room very spacious. The lobby was also very spacious but with the property grounds lacked plants and flowers, was very bare.

We booked this property after reading all details, services, and facilities provided in the Expedia description. All the details are not correct as in the description. There is no site restaurant, no cafe, no vending machine even for water.

We stayed at this resort 7 years ago and loved it. The pics you see on the website are old ones and now are very misleading. If we could have rates <1 we would have. Extremely run down. No restaurant, not even a pop cooler. A total of 6 broken lounge chairs for pool. Exposed wiring all around pool. No hand rails on main steps. Uneven concrete surfaces everywhere. Landscaping has been abandoned, long grass and neglected. Rooms are horrible. Old, tired old towels thin, ripped. Bed is frightful. Bath smells of sewer gas. Lobby looks abandoned and not welcoming. This is the absolute worse hotel we have stayed in in all our world travels....even worse than 3rd world nation standards. Finally on last morning we go to shower, no water and they could not fix before we had to depart. No shower, no toilet...We paid 155 cad per night and this should have been 50 or less per night. Don't ignore this review, and yes we are picky, but being honest. Book elsewhere...not here.

We are not new hotel. It has been built for 13 years till now. According to your reservation, no breakfast included but we provide free daily easy morning meal for your day as coffee, tea, Ovaltine, drinking water, bread, butter, jam and some cookies during your stay. After covid, there is no restaurant onsite anymore but the guests can order outside food delivery restaurant through App as Food Panda, Grab, and 7Eleven or take some food and beverages from outside into the resort without additional charge. The nearest restaurant is only 300 meters away from the resort. For wifi, we are in the jungle. So, wifi signal is not stable as normal since the resort is behind the biggest mountain in Aonang.

I wouldn’t choose to stay here, unfortunately my friend and I ended up having to check into another hotel due to the smell and mosquitoes in the room. Also the restaurant, bar etc was closed.

Thank you for your review. As checking with our staff. You didn't inform us about smell and also mosquitoes in room upon arrival. However, please give me a space to clarify each point. Really sorry to make your stay not comfortable one due to the numbers of mosquitoes. If we can do, we will do whatsoever to make zero mosquitoes at our property. It, however, hard to do that as we are in Tropical Rain Forest country and our Resort are surrounded with many species of trees and flowers. We actually do insect fumigation twice a month and in many more ways to assist oour guests' stay to be the best one. Many options are also offered free of charge to our guests to lessen the mosquitoes. Should you feel this became a problem, please do not hesitate to contact our Front office staff. They will be right there 24 hours to assist and make you a nice stay. In regard to smell in room, please inform us suddenly and we will straight to your room not more than 5 minute to fix it. (FYI: our technician went to your room after you checked out but they found it had no bad smell. However, this can be happened that a smell comes and goes so quickly. Our technician already listed it to his worksheet and he will follow up a matter)

Nice hotel, beautiful pool and great breakfast selection. The only thing is that it’s a little tired / old and was expecting more luxury and higher quality for the price paid. Additionally, it’s a tad far from the main strip - it’s walkable and there is a shuttle but just keep that in mind as its a bit isolated

Excellent stay for two nights, massive bathroom and helpful staff. An easy Tuk Tuk ride back from the Beach to our quiet location looked over by the local Cliffs. Swimming pool was nice with a pleasant dinner and breakfasts. Staff helpful in booking the Ferry and a useful free regular transport into town.

The location was great! Almost like you’re in the jungle and very beautiful scenery and very quiet location. Clean and very nice and kind service. Overall a great stay and would stay again. It’s nice it’s a bit farther out but still close if you want to go out. Only negative aspect is the bed was not very comfortable and could benefit from having a foam topper on it.

Nice scenery, nice enough rooms, poor service.
Check in was good, especially since I arrived late. Room itself was nice enough. Plenty of space, good decorations but odd bathroom layout as the sink was outside the bathroom and not near a mirror which made shaving impossible. Asked to check out late which was granted. Then told to move rooms at 9.30pm on my 2nd night to facilitate this. Only to be told in the morning it wasn't possible. Staff were obnoxious about this, potentially because I was a solo traveller. As for the restaurant I cannot comment on the food but again the service was on par with the hotels. I sat down and waited 20 mins after being noticed and wasn't provided a menu, at which point I left. All in all a shame as a nice quiet family hotel, away from the main strip with a great view however marred with poor service from my experience.

Sorry for inconvenience caused to you. 2. We offered late check for free of charge until 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, we had our last minute booking which must be stayed in your room. So, we needed to ask for your kind moving a room next door that night in order for us to offer free late check out on your departure date. However, we just realized that you checked out from your room approx. 01:00 PM. earlier than promised. Please accept many apologies for our staff’s misunderstanding and inconvenience cased to you for this issue. 3. For restaurant service, we will investigate and improve our services accordingly. All in all, we were deeply sorry we could not deliver you the services you expect. We felt terrible for an inability to create a maximum satisfaction to make you happy stay and could not give you the best impressive experience.

We had a great stay at Phu Petra resort. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights for our honeymoon and the staff prepared a nice welcome surprise with a Happy Honeymoon message with flower petals on the bed and swans made out of towels, which was a nice welcome! We also arranged for an airport pickup and the staff was accommodating to our needs and was flexible when our flight got delayed by 2 hours. The staff responded quickly to my e-mails and had great communication throughout our stay. We enjoyed staying off the main strip in AoNang in a quiet oasis at Phu Petra surrounded by trees and nature. They offered a free shuttle into town and to the resort, which we used several times during our stay. Overall we had a fantastic stay and the staff was very welcoming and friendly! :)

Nice enough hotel, which was very quiet when we stayed. We noticed a few marks on our sheets that wasn’t ideal, plus a cockroach in our bathroom, but they can’t help that much in the location. Staff all very pleasant. The hotel shuttle to town was good but they could offer slightly more frequency on the way back from town. Breakfast was basic due to lack of guests. Overall I’d say nice place, but considering what we paid it could have been better.

Please allow us to through each of your complaints.1.As investigating with our housekeeping manager, he told that the new maid used wrong linen over your bed in your room. Please accept many apologies for this issued on behalf of new maid hired. Please be informed that we actually bought new linen since January 2019. 2.For insects, Sorry for this annoying situation that make your staying not a comfort one. We normally do insect fumigation twice a month. It makes the mosquitoes lessen but please do not expect zero insect. It is impossible in Thailand, in Tropical Rain forest country and especially in our Resort that surrounded by greenish trees/ In this case, you might open the door and window, if like this a plug-in device and any other kinds of insect repellent will not help.3. Shuttle bus back to resort is not hourly. However, you can tuk tuk service at aonang center for your convenient.4. we are small resort where it has only 25 rooms. So, our breakfast is not variety but enough choices for American and Asian breakfast

According to your review, please be noted that we promoted ourselves that we are secluded resort where it is in the jungle, but far from main center point only 1.5 kilometers but we provide free shuttle bus service to center hourly.

Didn't feel safe, wouldn't recommend
Didn't feel safe on this property at all! It's further from town in the hills by itself, which was something we thought would be fun, but we experienced the opposite. We checked in after 9pm as we got a ride from Phuket (3.5 hrs away). We were very tired at check-in & overheard the receptionist give our driver (a random guy hired through Klook) our room number, so we requested a new room (room #2) for our own safety. Walk into room #2 & a cockroach flew in, right by my girlfriends head. Took staff 15min to get rid of it, but not before it flew on the bed so we requested another room as we didn't know what else could be in the room already. Room #3 was fine, and we finally were able to settle in around midnight (3 hrs after initial check-in!) Hotel gave us an upgrade for night 2 (room #4) as we wrote a review online. Nice gesture to ease our concerns, but the same staff was working on day 2 & we were scared she would share the new info with the driver or his buddies to come after us. Overall we had 4 rooms on a 2 night stay, got about 6 hours of total sleep because of the fear, and they also had the balls to charge us for 1 beer we had in the minifridge. They could've at least comped a $1.5 item. Side note, this property says they care about the environment, but it takes 10 mins (their words) of running water before it gets luke warm to take a shower. That's extremely wasteful, so we took very short ice cold showers Customer safety & privacy should be a priority.

First of all, please accept many apologies for inconvenience caused to you during check in. We already trained not only receptionist but also other staff from other hotel department about guest's information to stranger or other people. Every single info must be kept as confidential info. For insect in the room, we normally checked guest's room by our room division before making ready for our beloved guests. However, we are tropical rain forest country, surround with greenish tree and colour flowers. Even we do our best in preventing those insects away from our beloved guests, please understand we can not get rid of all insects completely. What we do couple a month is insect fumigation. Apart from that, we will spray every room prior to checking in. We will definitely discuss with our housekeeping team prevent it not to happen again. For 5 - 10 minutes hot water, we already discuss with management team for further making ready suddenly for our beloved guests. Customer safety & privacy must be our priority.

This was our second visit to Aonang Phu Petra. We really like the size and feel of the resort. The staff are great and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. It is in a very calm setting and the surrounding cliffs are beautiful

Great location and beautiful background for the pool. Away from the noise of Ao Nang Beach, but shuttle service takes you there every hour which is great. Breakfast had good vegetarian options and staff super friendly. Our only complaint is that our room had a lot of mosquitos, when we checked in. We got bit several times despite using bug spray and eventually killed all of them. We barely opened our doors to prevent further from coming in; certainly the location makes these pests more likely, but which they had a better job of pesticides. Of the four properties we stayed out in Thailand, this was the only one with mosquito issues.

Amazing friendly Hotel away from the crowds
A wonderful hotel which was just right for us, not too big & impersonal. It was away from the crowds, but close enough to walk (15 mins) or take the free shuttle every hour. It's the most relaxing holiday we've had for a long time.Staff were amazing & very attentive & always had a smile, nothing was too much trouble

Beautifully located hotel, quiet and secluded. Food is good and staff are friendly. Staff only speak a little English - more than what I can speak in Thai!!! This was not an issue for us as we are in Thailand! It would be narrow minded of me to expect them all to speak English to please me! The pool was fantastic over looking the lime stone cliffs, amazing. Short ride on the complimentary shuttle bus to the centre of Ao Nang. Would love to stay again!

Pros: 1) hotel is set in a beautiful location with breathtaking cliff side backdrops and surrounding pool --- my personal favorite of the hotel 2) hotel provides shuttle service every hour to city center 3) sweet, helpful staff 4) very large clean rooms and bathrooms with decent water pressure - breakfast was above average with large selection and cooked to order items (eggs, omelets, waffles) - beds are hard but not uncomfortable (as mentioned by other reviewers) Cons: 1) coffee was horrible 2) not close to city center (could also be a pro) 3) not as quiet as it could be (roosters!) 4) hotel is dated 5) expensive laundry service (better to use laundry in the city center)

In general, this is a safe and quiet hotel. A little disappointed in that the hotel is definitely over priced compared to the value offered. Beds are pretty hard and not comfortable, there is a big language barrier in terms of communication and the breakfast was not that great. While the hotel looks dated and in need of remodeling, it is set in a beautiful location with mountain backdrops surrounding the pool. The pool itself is nice, but the chairs and cushions are old and the BUGS are pretty bad. They could either do a better job at spraying for insects or guests just need to prepare with bug spray. Overall I'd say this is a 3 star resort and a bit over priced.

1. Over priced. There are many room promotions available in each room type through online website. We offered room with breakfast and excluded breakfast for our guests who are interested in staying in the jungle hotel in Aonang beach. However, we will double check with pricing manager to make it right in order for our guests to book it with special price with the right conditions. 2. For hard bed, We were sorry to know that you did not have a quality sleep at our Resort. The beds in Thailand normally in this standard and how tough or soft actually depends on each of our guests' preferences. Many of our guests said this bed is perfect, the others mentioned it's hard as a rock. Our duty is to serve you and to make you a happy stay and definitely a sleep quality is one of many factors make our guests a good stay. In this case, please do not hesitate to contact our Front Desk staff for further supports and assistance. They will right there to help your sleep a quality one. 3. Language barrier, We will train more English lessons to our staff and trainees in order for us to make guests'stay comfortable and good experience. 4. For breakfast, We have only 25 rooms here. So, breakfast may not variety if compare to large size hotel. However, if need anything more for breakfast during your stay, please do not hesitate to contact our waitresses at the restaurant. 5. Looks dated. For your remarks on our property that it looked old. We were sorry to make you felt in that way. We have been opened for 9 years and we renovate it with our continually maintenance plan. It might not look new as the newest property. 6.A lot of insects. We do insect fumigation twice a month and offer possible services free of charge. If you finds any insects or mosquitoes in room, please do not hesitate to contact receptionist at any time.

Nice hotel
A lovely hotel away from the business. They run a shuttle bus which is great for you to dip in and out of Ao Nang as little/often as you want. The rooms are well presented. The view of the mountains are perfect for relaxation. This hotel has everything you need if you want a quieter holiday too, a pool/spa/restaurant etc. The selection at breakfast was good and the staff were all very friendly. The only negative is there are some mosquitos so you need to be mindful of this and pack suitable repellant. This is not a big issue, but something to think about. Overall we loved our stay here!

Lush, green and quiet resort
AoNang Phu Petra resort is set in lush grounds overlooked by a majestic mountain. The regular shuttle service from the hotel into the town where the beach and shops were located was excellent and made the location very accessible to everything. We walked home a few times and it really isn’t that far out anyway. It took us about 20 minutes. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were quite lovely. The breakfast was fine and a few times when the resort was not full, we were able to order off their a la carte menu and enjoy a small buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is gorgeous with views to the mountain but the loungers are really due to be replaced. Overall, in terms of value for money, this resort is very good and we enjoyed our stay.

Very quiet location. Need to take the resort shuttle to get into town and a tuk tuk will take you back for 100 Baht (about $3 US). We might have been the only people in the resort the first night. Rooms are very large and the snack bar items are not expensive. Free towels to take to the beach. Breakfast buffet was not very impressive but since the resort is somewhat remote, you really don't have much choice but to have breakfast at the resort. Some really nice landscaping and some exotic trees are scattered throughout the grounds. As far as excursions, I found that it was usually cheaper to book in town then at the resort. Also found that excursion prices were negotiable in town.

It’s my second time back to Phu Petra as my first stay here was great. The staffs were friendly and nice and even took the initiative to send us birthday waffles and decorated the bed with ‘Welcome Home’. I love the hourly shuttle that brings us to Aonang town area as not all hotels have that (some even charge for a trip there) However the room this time round (Gloriyo hillside villa) isn’t that fantastic as it’s tucked all the way at the back as it’s a little scary at night with the poor lighting. One of the lights in the room was flickering and the aircon stopped working from 6-7am :( I wanted to play foosball after coming back around 9+pm at night, but it was tucked away in a dark corner and we were quite scared. The pool is quite nice and it has the mountain view and they were nice to provide beach towels :) The hotel can consider to upgrade their facilities to attract more visitors!

Thank you for your return to our resort. Last time, we upgraded you to Suite room because of some reasons in your previous stay. However, we allocated you in Gloriyo Hillside Villa as per reservation for this latest stay. We are very sorry for not allocating same room as per your previous stay at our resort. For lighting, we are going to add more lights since it is in our plan very soon for this matter. For air con, after checking with our staff, we found that air con was stopped because timing set for turning off automatically. Sorry for this issue anyway.

Great hotel
We stayedfor 8 nights and had a wonderful time. Staff are very friendly and helpful, though only a few speak english. The rooms are nice and big, lovely bathrooms too. The hotel is about 25 min walk from the beach, they do have a shuttle bus that leaves every hour. This is great but they only pickup back to the hotel and a few times a day which is disappointing. The pool area is great, but closes as 7 which is a shame as it would have been great to swim after dinner.

Quaint hotel, off the beaten path.
A pleasant stay away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy strip, yet close enough to reach. Spacious rooms with a gorgeous view of limestone cliffs in the area. Impressive bathroom area, good enough to catch any woman's eye.

Bad hotel, not worth spending for this hotel
This is very bad hotel. They didn't even provide the fresh breakfast. It is far from beach. After 8pm, you can't walk down to hotel. There was no street light on road. Most of the staffs doesn't understand English except manager. Had really bad time.

Thank you for your review. Breakfast was ala carte menu during our low season since no. of guests are below the minimum no.of guests.(we are small resort where we have only 25 rooms). You can however order fresh breakfast with our waitresses at restaurant in the morning. Our chef will cook to order for our guests. Our shuttle bus is available every hour from 8 AM. - 9 PM. to shopping center. Pick up time (promised) is only time per day. Last trip for picking up back to hotel is 9:20 PM. If you come back later than 9:20 PM., you should take a taxi back to resort. We do not recommend walking back to resort. For english skill, we will schedule English course for them in order for us to understand our guests perfectly.

Beautiful property and good food
The property is very beautiful and rooms are big and spacious. The room service was preparation was excellent for all the meals we ordered. Need to be a little alert as the room service closes at 9:30 pm on low occupancy days and we had to literally go without dinner one night as we missed this deadline and the hotel could not provide any backup for the same. The staff is very particular about the rules and regulations and I had a tough time convincing them to wash bottles for my infant. Finally after a lot of request they did it and I feel they need to be little more open to such simple guest requests. I would recommend the property due to beautiful rooms, swimming pool and good room service. Just be a little alert to all their rules and regulations and would request the hotel to be a little more open to guest requests.
