About Penang International Airport (PEN)

The biggest air gateway to the Malaysian state of Penang is Penang International Airport (PEN), which greeted slightly more than six million passengers to peninsular Malaysia's northern region in 2014. Malaysia's third busiest airport was formerly named Bayan Lepas International Airport after its location in southwest Penang Island's district capital, 16kms south of George Town.

Don’t Miss

All three Penang International Airport (PEN) terminals are located within the same two- floor building. Departing aircraft fly out from the first floor, while arriving flights enter at the ground floor level. As a hub for the Firefly and Airasia low budget airlines, Penang International Airport (PEN) operates over 20 daily flights to Kuala Lumpur as well as many more destinations throughout Malaysia and the rest of Asia.

Penang International Airport (PEN) facilities include a foreign exchange service, a bank, Wi-Fi, and ATMs. Passengers can contact the information desk in the ground floor's public area about lost luggage items or tourist information. The terminal building also contains a first aid service which passengers can use for emergencies, a VIP lounge, and a business centre complete with telephones, printers and a fax machine.

Restaurants and Bars

Most Penang International Airport (PEN) places to drink and eat are located in the air-side and publicly accessible departure areas. In addition to Malaysian and dim sum restaurants, there are also a few coffee, donut and chocolate shops, along with Western fast food chains.

Shopping

Penang International Airport (PEN) also features quite a few shops including a couple of duty-free emporiums in the international arrival area. The second level of the public concourse contains shops which sell fragrances, books, and cosmetics, while a jewellery shop can be found on the second level of the domestic departure and arrivals areas.
