Nice apartment.
The apartment was clean and in a lovely area. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest metro. The entrance into the building is dark and dirty with no lighting. This makes it scary when entering after dark with young children. The main problem we had was with the downstairs neighbours. They were shouting at each other very aggressively for over an hour on the morning that we checked out. This was scarey and inappropriate with young children. The instructions said to empty the bins. We did this, but there was no information where to put the rubbish. There was nowhere obvious outside the property so we had to use bins on the street.

Nice pics but derelict entry, private home, beware
Firstly, the "private bathroom" listed in the info is actually across the common hallway, outside of the apartment. This was a great inconvenience as the bathroom is not inside the apartment. Misleading info! Next, this is a private home and you are required to register with the local police office in Shanghai within the first 24 hours of arrival. This was not something that was made clear to us when we booked the apartment on hotels.com or mentioned to us by the owner. This was a huge inconvenience for our trip and we would not book such a place again. The entrance hallway to the property looked like it was under renovation. There was a tarpulin cloth pulled across the top, the hallway creaked and it felt unsafe being there. The "key" to the property was a code that the owner would send to you - but you need to ask for that. Lastly, it is disappointing the customer service that hotels.com provided us upon mentioning these points above. Each property should be vetted properly, beware of staying in private homes!
