Sad and tired but spacious.
Very disappointing. This place is poorly maintained. Strangely laid out and bad food in the restaurant. Kids couldn't even bare the breakfast. Saving grace is that it's on extensive grounds and each villa is quite large. Shame they don't get a decorator in.

We had a perfect stay!
It was an amazing for my family and we had only the good thing to say about this resort. It's really as what it was shown on the pictures - surrounded by paddy fields and there's a private plunge pool located in the spacious room. Staff are super-friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back for another relaxing stay.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Front desk and house keeping was very prompt. Restaurant staff was also very hospitable.hotel needs some attention and room cleaning wasn’t that great. Lake view rooms are just ok not that great. As just a little pond not a lake.

Great Stay
Our family stayed here for 20 days. The staff were very friendly and helpful! We had a couple of minor issues, but they were handled immediately. Everyday I saw someone working on improvements around the villas, remodeling or replacing older things. We would stay there again.

I stayed at Sapulidi, alone, to attend a conference being held in nearby Bhuwana Hotel. Although the surroundings of Sapulidi are 5 star (rice paddies and pool), very quiet and serene - the I found the service and amenities were at a 2-2.5 star level. I chose to stay here, in part, for the yoga and spa that were advertised. For the week that I stayed there, there was supposedly ‘no yoga teacher’ and therefore no classes (as advertised). The ‘spa’ is merely 2 tables set up overlooking the rice paddies. I had 2 massages there - both times, I was left covered in oil / honey even though the description said that a hot shower was included. On the second massage, the staff member who did the massage charged me 20k more than the brochure, then demanded I pay her in cash then and there. When I refused, telling her I’d pay at reception upon my departure, she amended the receipt with the correct price. The young man at reception also tried to rip me off when I booked a tour through him (and his uncle) charging me 200k more than recommended. Thankfully, the hotel manager intervened and I was returned my money when I complained. The staff here are genuinely well meaning, but young and anxious. When I informed reception about the situation with the spa, she just looked at me blankly as if she hadn’t understood me. I wouldn’t recommend this place for solo travellers. I barely met anyone there the whole week. Restaurant is generally quiet and breakfast selection is limited.

My wife and I thought the Sapulidi was fabulous value for money. Our pool access room was huge and the outside bathroom was wonderful. The rice fields / pool view from our room was a joy. We stayed for 3 nights and no one occupied the adjoining villa and so therefore the shared pool became our very own private pool ( brilliant ). Breakfast was adequate. The location offered fantastic peace and quiet. We arranged scooter hire from the hotel for less than 5GBP per 24 hr period. The hotel grounds were large and full of plants and trees which gave a village feel to the complex. Transport is required to get to town and if you decide against scooter hire a free shuttle bus is available.Cannot think of any negatives.We loved it and wish we'd stayed longer.

For those that want the real Bali experience, Sapulidi is your place. Having a outdoor private plunge pool in our outdoor covered bathroom complete with geckos was a dream. this is a bit outside of the hustle and bustle of ubud. We are comfortable on the motor scooter so we wanted to get away from it and have a more rural experience. but a five minute ride and you are in the middle of ubud! there are tons of great warring restaurants in the area walking distance including 9 angels or Mama Lobster. Yum!!! 10 minute ride even in traffic to Mas and Ubud. only 20 minutes to Sukawati and 75 minutes form Denpasar. if you want a hermetically sealed 7 star hotel, don't come here. shame on you for trying to see the world in a bubble. Save room for the rest of us that want the real life changing Bali experience at Sapulidi...We are gonna come back with friends and rent a family compound next time but loved our room for a get away from it all honeymoon. stay away from touristy Sanur. we were able to motor scooter to the beach when ever we wanted...

This is the place to stay if you want a quiet, relaxed, rustic natural place to stay. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. It was a struggle to get my kids excited to see the sights of ubud as our family didnt want to leave our private pool/villa. The free shuttle bus was a great bonus to get to the city centre(when we did drag them away) Staff were very polite and happy to help in any way they could. Property is not pristinely clean as there is outdoor bathrooms and is in a rural setting and is starting to look a little tired in areas. PROS: Food, setting, ambience, staff, pools, quiet & Free shutttle.

Nice Hotel immersed in Nature
Nice hotel in beautiful spot! Surrounded by rice paddies and all the animals/insects that come with it! If you don't like the odd gecko or two in your bathroom then probably not the spot for you. A decent walk from Ubud centre, but they have a shuttle bus going every two hours during the day (9am-9pm) which is super handy!

It was an alternative experience, the Ubud experience. That being, the hotel is very close to nature. This is especially so for the surroundings and the outdoor bathroom and toilet. Hearing the crickets and seeing snails crawling next to the shower was an interesting experience. Room is cosy and spacious, very value for money. Just that it gets really dark at night, rooms are very dimly-lited. However, its really quiet and serene and if weather permits, it makes a good spot for star gazing. The shared pool with the adjacent villa does not look very clean or properly maintained but i took a dip nonetheless. Maybe the locks on the sliding doors can be improved, I kept thinking if they are latched properly because it did not feel very safe with the mere latch on. The hotel isn't the nearest to the main street or the city centre, so got to arrange for transport in and out. The shuttle service only goes on every hourly (excluding some hours). The nasi goreng at the breakfast taste great though! That was pretty memorable, as well as the view of the padi field at the cafeteria. I would recommend this stay but be prepared for insects, bugs, and mozzies but that makes it all part of the special experience. It is a good rustic experience for a city dweller like me.

Relaxing place to retreat from Ubud hustle & bustl
The gardens seemed to capture some aspects of real life in Bali with rice fields and ducks and were beautiful and peaceful, the staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation was pleasant (although some things a little tired- linen). The rooms had everything we needed and enjoyed the outdoor bathroom. It was a little way out of the busy part of town and maybe too far to walk but a free shuttle runs every two hours. Sorry but did not enjoy the breakfasts.

Most of the reviews about this resort on this site were true. Decent breakfast, mostly friendly staff, spacious room, special touch of mosquito net and spray in the room, nice swimming pool, surrounded by paddy fields, not so near to Ubud centre but free shuttle provided the convenience to an otherwise 40min walk. Slightly on the downside, the Single Double room (#R1) that I booked did not have much of a view but had a dipping pool in the room to allow private skinny dip (Note: Very cold water!). Breakfast was decent with free mini buffet and a main course from the menu, except that there was no replenishing of pancakes when I arrived at 10am with several others coming later and didn't get any pancakes at all. Quite disappointed. Swimming pool was a nice common area to chill out at this resort and that's about it. Didn't manage to get a great deal of peace and tranquility amid the renovation that is going on in some parts of the resort and lots of workers moving around. Guess I'll try out a different resort if I'm in Ubud again.

Given the room that everyone must walk past - no privacy in this room, no window tint, no sheer curtains - everyone can see straight into your entire room. Toilet seat was disgusting and should be thrown out, shower wall not cleaned in a long time. Staff speak english ok but don't understand it. Very difficult to get a basic answers. Room plagued with ants. Mosquito net only there for decoration - has gaping holes when let down. Hole in roof.

A whole lot of NO.
Not as advertised as all. Not out in the middle of rice fields - located in town in a run-down area. The restaurant was unclean (don't look in the kitchen if you want to keep your food down) and they didn't even have beer available - only local red or warm white wine. Shower was broken and leaking water all over. Bits of garbage and foliage in outdoor tub. Very sparse accommodation. Sound of hanging cans clacking incessantly in rice field just outside room. Staff screaming loudly across property so couldn't leave door open. Staff didn't speak a lick of English - falsely said they did in booking terms. Would not refund at least second night when I left after just a few hours. Told me to go through Hotels.com, but will not respond to Hotels.com, either. STAY AWAY.

Regarding your issue , suddenly our water pomp broken and we got water issue on that day but its fix on the same day . its true when you check in we got no beer because we just run out of stock at that time but we already order to the company for sending it to us . And regarding the cleanliness of our restaurant , theres no need to worry because we got checked up from hotel.com and several company every year and we past all of the requirement and conditions . and for the room , we are trully sorry but it seems there missunderstanding , because you said our resort not located in the middle of ricefield as not as in the advertised but in fact we never advertised that our resort is located in the middle of ricefield . We advertise online or even hotel.com , we are located in ubud and we have ricefield inside our resort for the views of Deluxe Double Room . and you make reservation for Deluxe Double room with Ricefield View and we give you exactly that room . And regarding the language issue , We had been give our service to million of guest since many years who came from different country from around the world , and if we cant speak english , How can we able to assist them until now ? . But Maybe the level of our understanding of english is still below standard for you and we will train of staff again so we can improve it . And for the refund issue , Hotel can never able to cancel guest reservation or modify it , it can only be done from guest or the hotels.com . And we are already respond to hotel.com by phone and by email ( We got proof ) . Why would we lie to our guest and our patner ? . And again None of this will happen if we can give you perfect service . So please accept our apology .

Off the beaten path but still close to shops
I totally enjoyed my stay! It’s very cool staying out among the rice paddies listening to all the geckos, frogs, birds & insects and watching the bats in the evening. Look for the white rabbit meandering about the grounds + roosters & dogs (mostly living next door). The pool is amazing deep & blue like swimming in a dream. The restaurant area is nice but the food is disappointing ( my only real complaint). The staff is great!! You can walk to the shops and eateries in 15 min and the shuttle goes every 2 hours. The bungalows are comfy, mini bar refrigerator, tv, WiFi and the outdoor pool bathroom is awesome !!! Yah I would stay again!!

We stayed two nights . Two couples In two rice field rooms.lWe all loved it. I loved the outdoor bathroom and Being in a working rice fields. It is a bit rustic but that is what I loved. Pool was fabulous. Had a massage, pricey but good. Tho you can’t put on your room have to pay cash . Restaurant was good and reasonably priced.

I came here alone for some self love. Every morning I do yoga fronting the lake view. It was simply serene and relaxing. The grounds are just too beautiful. Pretty green paddy field fronting the restaurant & swimming pool. The hut where I stayed was the typical unique Bali style with open air bathroom, came with a private pool for skinny dipping :) The resort staff were polite and friendly. I would definitely come again. Most recommended for those wanting some quiet times, yoga practitioner like myself, honeymooners. Hourly shuttle to Ubud Central was a convenient to discover the lil town. Thank you for a memorable experience. Will visit again.

Nice view (rice field view)
Enjoy the rice field view at the room (villa) terrace. The peaceful and green environment made us relax and charge our energy. Worth to try.

Beautiful cute resort. FRiendly staff and very clean. Besides the amount of animals (water monitors, lizards, ducks, dogs, spiders) the stay was amazingly.

Great Hotel with lovely breakfast.
My partner and I had a lovely stay at Sapulidi. We were there for 4 nights, we wish it could have been longer. We had a room with an amazing view overlooking the rice fields. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely, very clean. The breakfast is just amazing, if I'm honest it was probably my partner's favourite part of the trip. We had fresh juice, fresh fruit, pastries and pancakes! And then they have us menus to order a main?! We thought we were dreaming. Options included Indonesian and Western meals. Both were pretty good. The only downside is there are a few mosquitos but that is to be expected in Ubud. Hotel provided us with mosquito spray for the room which was very thoughtful. The room also came with mosquito nets. Open air toilets are very cool too! Still felt very private. We can't wait to come back!

This is a gem hidden in the middle of rice fields. It beats staying at a five star hotel any day.
