According to Expedia\u2019s travel booking data from the summer months of June to August, Singaporeans tend to be last-minute travel planners, with 50% of Singapore travellers making their travel bookings barely a month in advance!<\/p>\n

For those of you who enjoy planning your travels spontaneously, you will be mighty pleased to know that last-minute Singapore travellers really know how to seize a good travel deal when they smell one. Check out our 3 travel hacks below to get you out of the country fast, and on budget!<\/p>\n

Tip 1: Book your flights between seven to 13 days in advance for greatest savings<\/h2>\n

Expedia\u2019s data showed that the cheapest airfares, up to 10 percent cheaper than the average fares during the same period, were booked between seven to 13 days in advance of the travel date, showing that Singaporeans know how to seize a good travel deal when they spot one.<\/p>\n

Data also showed that flights can cost up to 25% more when booked more than 3 months in advance! Sometimes even the early birds don\u2019t get the best deals\u2026<\/p>\n

Tip 2: Follow the crowds and hop on the next plane to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or Manila<\/h2>\n

Among the most popular city destinations for last-minute travel bookings, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Manila emerged as the top four cities for Singapore travellers.<\/p>\n

Bookings made for travel to Kuala Lumpur tend to be made closer to the actual travel date, with 65 percent of travel bookings made less than two weeks in advance. Last-minute bookings to Manila, Bangkok and Hong Kong took 45 percent, 40 percent and 35 percent of the total bookings to these destinations respectively.<\/p>\n

Getting around these cities is also easy and fuss-free, with affordable and well-connected public transport options such as the MTR, buses and trams in Hong Kong, the MRT and Skytrain (BTS) in Bangkok, the LRT and MRT in Manila, as well as the LRT, MRT and the monorail in Kuala Lumpur. It\u2019s so easy to travel around these cities that little planning needs to be done beforehand.<\/p>\n
