The first site we will be visiting is Wat Phnom. The Wat Phnom Temple is the most significant of all the temples in Phnom Penh. It is a pagoda that symbolises the name of Phnom Penh, and a historical site that is part of the Khmer national identity.

The second stop will be the National Museum. The National Museum of Cambodia is Cambodia's largest museum of cultural history and is the country's leading historical and archaeological museum. The museum houses one of the world's largest collections of Khmer art, including sculptural, Khmer ceramics, bronzes, and ethnographic objects.

Moving to the next destination is the Royal Palace. The Royal Palace is the official residence of the monarch of the country. Its full name in Khmer is the Preah Barom Reacheaveang Chaktomuk Serey Mongkol. The palace is beautiful and there are a lot of things to see. It gives you a glimpse of Cambodian culture and heritage. On the southern edge of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda (Wat Preah Keo) is another highlight. Also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Silver Pagoda houses images of the Buddha made with precious metals, crystals, and gemstones.

The Independence Monument was primarily erected to mark the liberation of the country from the French, who ruled Cambodia for almost a century from 1863 to 1953.

The sounds of prayers and chanting Buddhist monks fill 15th-century Wat Ounalom, a religious complex near Phnom Penh’s Tonle Sap River. It’s considered the centre of Cambodian Buddhism, but the temple’s not just for religious pilgrims. Here, visitors can find beautiful images of the Buddha, explore historic architecture, and more.
