Hamburg Dungeon

Indulge your macabre side at this wonderful attraction, with plenty of fun rides and bone-chilling storytelling to be experienced.

Take a subterranean trip through the dark underbelly of the city’s history at Hamburg Dungeon. 600 years of the worst that humanity has to offer is on show here over the course of a 90-minute tour. Tales are told and theatre is used by skilled actors to bring these horrible stories to life.Only adults and children over the age of 10 are allowed into this underground prison due to the content of the tour – and you should be ready for a scare no matter what age you are! The dungeon is found in the middle of the Speicherstadt area of the city, and is close to other popular amusements such as the Miniatur Wunderland.Take in the Torture Chamber show, which is based on the brutal interrogation of people suspected of smuggling during the Napoleonic invasion of the 1700s, or find your way through the terror of the Great Fire of 1842 in another part of the tour. See the vicious lengths that religion can push people to when you’re put on trial for supposed “sins before God” in the Inquisition Room.Try to find your way out of the disorientating mirror maze, Labyrinth of the Lost. Alternatively, one of the most exciting amusements here recreates the impact of the terrible floods of 1717 in a rapid and quite wet ride. Whatever you do, be sure to keep your wits about you, as there are lots of scares along the way, and they’re most likely to come up behind you just when you least expect it!Plan your visit to the Hamburg Dungeon in advance to coincide with an English-language tour, as storytelling is a central part of the experience here. While you’re on the website, you can also secure a discount for online booking. The best way to get to the dungeon is via the nearby S-bahn or U-bahn stations, as parking is very limited.
