"Great hotel with free shuttle to Newark Penn/Airpo"
Love this hotel: across the street from NJPac, a few blocks from train/air centers, great rooms, wifi, and best of all, a breakfast (free) from 6-10 that includes sausage and egg sandwich, waffles, boiled eggs, oatmeal, juice, etc. You can do business in NJ and hop up to NY Penn in 20 mins by train. Not as expensive as NYC hotels. 2 queen sized beds, great pillows. Great view (at least my room has one). Shuttle is not only free but 24 hrs.
I stayed here for one night. I was in NJ and at the last minute decided to just stay instead of making the late night drive home. This fit the bill, it was close and affordable. The fact that it was a Wyndham gave me some assurance that I wouldn't be staying somewhere dicey if only for a night. This was nice, clean and the bed was super comfy making it hard to get out of bed in the morning. The check out is noon which in my book is always a plus. Free parking and wifi also a plus cause I recently found out that not every hotel gives these for free. Also there was a nice restaurant/lounge.
Location: just several steps away from Harrison PATH station, I even saw the hotel neon light before getting off from the train.
stayed there four days, very convenient transportation to both Newark and NYC
the facility are all new and the room is equipped with micromave owen and cooking kitchen, you can even cook yourself!
besides, the front desk staff is very helpful , help me to exchange coins for coin laundry in 2nd floor, and give me quite good tips on the transportation.
the hotel shuttle bus is available from 7:30 AM and goes to major locations to nearby at your call.
really good choice for travellers
and the WiFi is quite decent , though sometimes singal is not stable in hotel room. Anyway, if you go to lobby, Wifi is excellent ~
Shuttle service is recommended especially when it's cold outside. Shuttle drivers were very friendly and helpful, front desk staff very attentive and all was ready for our very early morning departure.
"Excellent shuttle service, no waiting at airport"
I selected a different hotel initially, but the shuttle for the other hotel took a very long time. The shuttle for the Holiday Inn was ready and waiting for passengers, so I ended up going to this hotel instead.
The hotel was 5 minutes from airport, the shuttle service goes every 10 minutes, but there are at least two shuttle buses always going back and forth, so usually there is one either waiting for you already or the wait is much less than 10 minutes. Shuttle driver was awesome. Helps with my bags and stroller for my 6 month old and gave me the low down of the hotel.
The front desk staff were not very helpful. I asked for the lowest rate and they quoted me the standard rate without asking for any memberships or corporate discounts that might have been possible. I ended up booking with Expedia while I was at the front desk since the front desk seemed unwilling to look for lower possible rates.
Hotel was very quiet. I had a 10.5 hour layover with my infant daughter and our stay was excellent. I would recommend staying overnight at this hotel to everyone traveling with or without kids. If you don't want to wait for a free shuttle, this hotel is for you since I believe it's the lowest wait time shuttle service available for Newark airport. It's with the extra money to be at the hotel 30 minutes faster when you limited time for a stopover.
"stay here if you're going to the prudential center"
This hotel is clean, safe, the rooms are comfortable and a good size, everything is pretty new and it's not too noisy. If you're headed to the Prudential center, definitely stay here.
Some other reviews said the desk staff were rude but I had no problems at all and found them to be friendly and helpful, as were all staff I interacted with. There's a free shuttle to the train station and the airport every hour if you don't want to walk. I learned the hard way that the hotel shuttle pickup at the airport is nowhere near the taxis. Take the air train to the parking stop.
For people that are worried about the neighbourhood, it's not the safest but getting to and from the train station or the prudential center for an event will be fine, there's lots of security and you can get a ride to the station if you need it. Just don't expect to be wandering the neighbourhood yourself at night, it doesn't seem too safe.
You can grab good sized takeout coffee at the hotel restaurant when it's open and they have basically a convenience store onsite too.
