Views are beautiful!!! My recommendation to property: fix the elevators. A lot of the elevator buttons don’t work. Saw multiple people confused about the elevator because some buttons don’t light up. One of my pillows had a yellow stain on it. It was clean but the stain was unpleasant. Discard it if bleach does not remove a stain. The service at breakfast could be improved upon. They were out of a lot of items. Also, there was a massive line to get coffee. If it takes so long to get a cappuccino/latte, why not have servers offer coffee to guests instead of making that self serve as well? I actually don’t think I’ve ever gone anywhere where I had to get my on coffee during breakfast…. They were also out of coffee cups….

The hotel is nice and tranquil. The staff were nice, but serious. They were helpful when needed. The hotel facilities need some of TLC, but our suite was nice. The spa facility is outdated and not up to standard. Don’t expect much Warning: all must wear a head cap if going into any pool. The massage was good and relaxing. Restaurant and food were good. Overall good experience.

Checking in was unusual. No bell man and at spa the woman who was in charge, she give you order instead of helping. Would never returned this hotel. Only good was breakfast nothing else. 5 stars hotel with 2stars service.

Great stay!
A lovely location and stay. Teresa at Reception was WONDERFUL! It is a bit of a twisty drive. Great parking. The breakfast goes far and beyond all others! Great balcony views. Room service was quick. All around wonderful!

This hotel was a lovely part our visit to the Douro Valley. The hotel is right on the river. Note that the river is clean and warm enough for swimming during the summer if you are so inclined. There are restaurants that are OK near by. There are many wineries to visit, including Aneto Wines, which is highly recommended: www.anetowines.pt. The pool is a lovely part of visiting this hotel and includes a sweeping view of the river and valley.

Minimalistic hotel, everything white. Spa area got a little bit of hospital feeling. Suite with garden very good. A bit strange layout with several elevators etc.

This hotel sits on the river, and every room has a perfect river view. The dinner menu and service was really good especially since there are limited food options in the area. Hotel offers a beautiful infinity pool that overlooks the river, but a bit too cold for me. I would recommend this hotel.

Became very good friends with one of the employees in the hotel, a gentleman by the name of Francisco who we met in the restaurant on various nights, a great asset and ambassador to the hotel.

The view from the room is impressive! However there are many services and details that doesn’t love up to a 5 star hotel. This is a 4 star hotel with a 2-3 star service. There were a few people making it a 4 star, the rest seemed to have a summer job before returning to school. 70 % of service staff didn’t speak English. We spent 6 days there, which were too many days. A long weekend would have been enough. + View from room Tennis & Pool Cleaning staff Pool view % Bed comfort Hotel service, non English speakers, waiting … …. Still waiting Menu was overall a snack menu Restaurant was a disaster ( same as breakfast menu, which for this purpose works well, but not dinner) Umbrellas couldn’t be used in afternoon which left the pool area horrible due to warm temperatures. Overall, this was way to pricy for the overall experience. This hotel has so much potential, if they would invest in a proper restaurant in the 800 m2 they don’t use, and would have had proper service staff.

Excellent Douro stay
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is modern yet very comfortable. The view from the infinity pool was spectacular and was a nice place to unwind at the end of the day. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at the restaurant. We decided to have dinner there one night and it was one of the best meals we had on our entire trip! The breakfast buffet was also excellent. The hotel is quite remote and not too close to wineries and port houses however the train station is just 5 mins away and exploring the area by train was really easy.

small things not happy about for 5 star hotel, only 3 slippers in wardrobe which looked as though they had been used, no light blub in bed side light, only one hand towel in bathroom, no breakfast tea or milk told you only got this if you stayed on 6th floor, we had stayed in other less rated hotels in Portugal which got all these things right. When we spoke to reception they did sort the light blub left 2 large bath towels not hand towels and changed the slippers but no breakfast tea or milk.

A little hard to drive to given the narrow and curvey roads in the Douro Valley, but the hotel, location, and facilities are worth it. The rooms are large, well-appointed, and modern. The restaurant is classy and the food was good. One suggestion: don’t order the shrimp appetizer. It is over priced at 11 euros and came with only three quite small shrimp. The rest of the meal selections were fine and the wine and port was good and reasonably priced.

10 year anniversary
My wife and I had our 10 year reunion at this hotel. The setting on the river was magnificent. A wonderfully peaceful area. The food in the hotel was excellent. The hotel even arranged a special gift on the day of our anniversary to celebrate, which was a great gesture. The service was professional. The only thing I´d say is the staff can be a little bit slow as it´s a relaxed pace.

Beautiful retreat
Perfect place to relax for a few days . Everyone is very professional. I am sure they wish they would have put in more conventional elevator buttons as the new touch technology doesn’t work well . Also enjoy the small steep roads the the GPS tell you to go on . A guys dream !!
