“very comfortable”
i stayed for 9 days the room was small but clean and modern the staff were very helpfull and friendly nothing was to much trouble there restaurant was excellent with excellent service location was good close to wangfujing and summer palace
“Great service, great neighborhood!”
The hotel is probably 200 yards from the Forbidden City and only about 5 blocks from a major shopping district, as well as only one block from a local -- non-touristy -- shopping area. Great location! And the hotel has a wide array of helpful services -- food, travel tours, and souvenirs. The staff was helpful and cheerful.

I thought the service was great. The desk help spoke English very well. The bell-hop guy was really helpful and even helped hail me a cab once and tell the taxi driver (in Chinese) where I wanted to go. The breakfast buffet was weird, but that was more cultural than any sort of service oriented thing. The room was really clean. And when I called for more toilet paper, they brought it right away.
“Great choice for budget travel!”
I found this hotel to be very nice for those travelers who are not in need of luxury. The room was very clean, the chamber maids were very helpful if you needed anything, and the hotel is well stocked with Asian and Western restaurants, lounges and bars. While it will help you to know Chinese, the staff will go to lengths to make you happy - an uncommon feature in other hotels! The staff in the front-desk do speak English well. The location is ideal for exploring center-north Beijing: Palace Museum is just a five minute walk, and Jingshan and Beihai parks are very close, as well as the National Art Museum. The best place to stay in Beijing is 28 Maoer Hutong, but the Red Wall Hotel will do nicely.
“Excellent location, very good price and very human service.”
Hotel is located just behind the Forbidden City and in walking distance to Jingshan and Beihai Park. The room is clean and comfortable. More important is the human touch of the service. My mom got into a Taxi accident during our stay. Once the hotel manager learned about it, she came to our room visited her, brought fruit basket, provided free shuttle service and even deduct a couple of days hotel fees. We appreciate the gesture very much. It made the horrible accident less upsetting.

Clean and close to some tourist areas, within a walking distance. Staff are great and happy to help, had no problems in using english and geting good advise from them.

Great location! The staff were super friendly. I stayed in the Traditional Chinese room. It was very small but very beautiful and clean. The bathroom had a stunning decor, i even took pictures of it. Beijing is a huge city and can be overwhelming. The Redwall was my first hotel and a great starting point as it is right by the Forbidden City. There is a street behind the hotel, parallel to it where you can experience a wide variety of street food and there is a huge super-market there too. In my opinion, the Redwall hotel is a great value for your money for a traveler on a budget that does not want to compromise on cleanliness and comfort.
“Lucked out”
No unpleasant surprises. The beds were clean and spacious -- firm, but suited me. The room had everything you needed, and we especially appreciated the free internet connection. The little shop next door is open all hours, very handy for late night beers. There is a bank next to that. The hotel is very central, a short walk to the back of the Forbidden City, and a long walk to the main part of Wangfujin Street, where the action is. Staff very helpful.
