“Inexpensive but comfortable and neat hotel.”
I was looking for a hotel in the old town section of Bilbao, but also one that had easy access to the Guggenheim Museum, the town's newest treasure. Because I was also paying for a room at my primary location, I was looking for the most inexpensive available that still was comfortable, safe, easily accessible (no steps because I use a walker), and attractive. The Bilbao Jardines filled the bill. Because it was new, it was in superb condition, which many of the older, perhaps more atmospheric hotels were not. The price was excellent, the location terrific, and the service excellent--a definite winner in the lower price category.
“Green and minimalist”
Clean rooms in the centre of Bilbao Old Town.Minimalist decor all green with rather squeaky wood floors.Beds very comfortable and bathroom all functional.Staff were very helpful. Delightful green dining room but breakfast was a disappointment (it was optional). Easy access to everything by excellent trams or metro.Interesting 10minute walk along the river bank to Guggenheim museum
“Good location”
Hotel is in a good location, with the Guggenheim just a very nice 15-minute walk away if you follow the river. It's very charming to walk around in the narrow streets of the old town, which is where the hotel is located. The metro is a 5-minute walk away. The only negative is that the airport bus stop is a 15-minute walk away if you have a lot of luggage. However, if you don't, this is a good place to stay.
