“very good choice”
the first impression is not the best. but as the time goes by you would realise how good your choice was. the staff is excellent. i loved the free internet (in London you have to pay to have your e-mail seen) an the free water bottles in its floor. If i go to B.A. again. i will go to Axel hotel.
“Great hotel, superb location”
This hotel is modern and is in the historic location of Buenos Aires, not a super touristy area, which made the experience fantastic. The service is pretty good but overall the hotel is superb. I'd definitely stay there again.
“can't wait to go to anothe Axel Hotel”
over all the hotel was good and the breakfast buffet was very good
“Buenos Aires Best Hotel”
A heterofriendly hotel. One of the best travel experiences I've ever had. Rooms are immaculate and very creative. Ambience is delightful...restaurants excellent...and friendliness / helpfulness of staff exceptional. I truly can't wait to return!
“Contemporay Boutique Hotel”
If you like contemporary spaces, you will love the Axel. Although the location is a cab ride from the Recoleta and Palermo neighborhoods (the heart of much of the City's nightlife), the area is safe and quaint, and the hotel makes up for the couple extra bucks it takes to cab it to some destinations. The hotel facilities (indoor and outdoor pools, and spa etc) are terrific for a boutique hotel. The hotel is fairly new, and the rooms are comfortable, spacious and hip. The axel caters to a gay clientele, and therefore the staff is particularly helpful in navigating the City's gay nightlife. Overall, the axel was a great choice, and I am looking forward to staying again.
“Great Hotel in Buenos Aires”
Lovely Hotel with great staff. As my feeling of taking in at a gay hotel my feeling was a bit ambivalent after reading others reviewes. But there was great and only friendly. I had a girl with me and she feelt it was noproblems at all. Relaxing at the pool area in the afternoon with a drink in my hand after a day in the city, that was life quality. Or the nice and tasty dinner with fine wine. Hope I will get the chanse to come back.
“A true gem of a hotel”
The Alex is centrally located in the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires within walking distance to may historical locations, great restaurants and subway. I stayed here for 6 nights in January with 2 other friends in a separate room. Staff are very friendly and accommodating - the customer service is incredible. There are 2 pools - the indoor pool on the 5th floor with the glass see-thru bottom is heated, while the outdoor pool is refreshingly cool. The rooms are very cool with glass walled showers (rain head), lots of closet space ... and a couple of chairs with side table. The floors are polished concrete. We save one of the rooms with a tub .. and much prefer the ones with just showers (save the extra money that a tub room costs) - they just have a great cool factor. My room was on the street side ... and I found it very quiet at night. Each room has it's own control for air conditioning. The breakfast buffet is amazing - you won't go away hungry. The bar food menu was also a hit poolside. We spent a couple evenings at the outdoor bar playing games - we weren't the only ones doing that - so bring cards or your scrabble board. There are two computers available for guests with free internet. Mini fridges are located throughout the hotel with free bottled water as well. It was very comfortable and enjoyable .... a welcoming oasis after each long day of exploring an amazing city!
“Way beyond expectation”
After finding this hotel on expedia and reading the reviews of it being 'hetero friendly' we were mildly skeptical. We were travelling with an infant and were worried that a Gay Boutique Hotel would be less then ideal. Much to our suprise, they had a crib, a mini robe (with appropriate colours for a baby girl), and her own little pillow. At breakfast, which is great, they even boiled eggs for her at no extra charge. Every person at the concierge was extremely helpful. The modern decor was fantastic (the glass walled shower was the topper), the rooms were clean, the Macs were free to use for internet, and the glass bottomed pool on the 5th floor was warm and relaxing. This hotel was truly and experience we won't forget. Apparently the parties can get pretty loud and late (I suppose this is both good and bad!).
“excellent”
At first I was in another awful hotel and immediately decided to move to Axel and agreed it was an excellent choice, except for the bad humour of the afternoon front desk staff everything was perfect.
“excellent hotel”
highly recommended
