Indoor Camping
This place is like indoor camping. Yeah....there was a bed and a bathroom, but it's all very rustic. It's a good thing the ONLY lamp has a 25-watt lightbulb---all the better to obscure what you've gotten yourself into. The HVAC is impossibly finicky. All the interior appointments are worn out. This place is straight out of 1980 and hasn't seen a dime of renovation since it was originally constructed.

This is an older motel with poorly kept property. The rooms were musty and could not open the windows. The “guest room” was strangely laid out and no services available.

Stayed here before was ok. This trip: fridge dirty, esp in tray tracks, unable to adjust fridge temp so our stuff was all frozen, filthy windows, no screen, curtains looked as if a cat attacked them, sheets had splotches of hopefully, paint on them but they had been washed in bleach, bathtub with alot of finish gone, door with, "lock" flimsy, I suppose someone tried to fix it, veeery flat, oooold pillows, very noisy airconditioner, towel rack bent badly and shelf on wall very wigly. Maybe worth half what we paid at best. Did not talk with staff as told they were full and could'nt even get pop mchine filled.

No covers on drains with visible hair left in them, broken window, door was painted so it stuck and you had to jam your shoulder into it to get it to open. You also had to slam it to get it closed.

Room booked through Hotels.com was poor quality. After asking to cancel, the staff moved us to an updated room at no charge. That room was OK. The AC worked, and included updated mattress, TV, and a fridge. It was also on a lower floor. Rooms do not include a coffee maker, but coffee is available on the first floor in the morning. The woman working the desk was very nice, but she indicated that management directs her to assign discounted Hotels.com rooms to the third floor.

Such a good place! I appreciate the 'old -school' vibe. It felt very friendly and familiar. And the rooms are very clean and up to date. A perfect blend of the old road-trip memories and modern convenience!

Older motel with no elevator. Our single queen room only had two pillows and the three chairs in the room were a hard plastic and very uncomfortable to sit on.

Challis is one of the beautiful places in the state of Idaho. It is a recreational area and quite remote. It’s a place for outdoor activity of many types. You won’t find any motels with 3-5 star ratings, but most are clean and adequate for the outdoors enthusiast. Northgate is of this type, and I don’t think you would be disappointed.

It was too cold to camp so this was the next best inexpensive option. Room had few outlets, it was either the microwave or the desk lamp. Bed needs upgrade, sagging. Window opened at ground level, no screen or locking mechanism.

Clean. Quiet. The extended stay folks not a problem. We liked sitting outside on the benches around the fireplace. Pretty good microbrew not too far away. Found a spring with really good drinking water in town.

This property has been totally neglected. I have been in many third world flophouses that were nicer than this. Staff were friendly and helpful, but everything else about the property was substandard.

For the price we paid for a night I didn’t expect much and was pleasantly impressed. I felt the hotel was clean. I did not like that there wasn’t a deadbolt or additional lock for the door. You can tell the door had been patched from being broke into before. The fridge wasn’t plugged in when we arrived so it was ineffective.

TV did not work, table in room was broken, rug in room had a lrge hole in it. They charged me even though I had prepaid with Expedia, and attempted to charge a higher rate.

I'm sorry for your experience, as I recall we offered an upgrade too a king suite when we were informed the TV cable was not working and you declined, and we only accept payments in house the credit information is too hold the room, we are sorry for your experience we hope the next time you stay you will have a better visit

Challis is beautiful. The motel served its purpose of a place to sleep and shower. The motel was quiet. The room we had reserved with 3 queen beeds on the main floor was not available, and that was unfortunate, but staff tried to make it right for our needs.

This place has really gone down hill since I stayed there last November. The staff was really nice but the place is super ran down inside and out. It needs some major work. To top things off when I got there they didn't have my reservation on file and the family room I reserved is no longer available to be rented, so I ended up with just two queens instead of 3.

Clean and quiet, if outdated and rather spartan. Room had a CRT television, so that took me back. Honesty, it was just fine for a bed and a shower, and the price was reasonae.

Poorly hung curtains wouldn't close. Bare wires hanging out of ceiling. Outlet needed for cpap machine didn't work. Towels and wash cloths were badly stained.
