I booked this property because of its close proximity to the ocean. I was very nervous about what we would get based on previous reviews. We arrived about 530 on Friday and there was a large group of about 20 in front of us waiting to check in. I have to say that the front desk people got guests checked in quickly. We only waited about 15 minutes, as each person was given their rooms, which was decent in my opinion for that many people. The reviews mentioned a lot about the front desk service but we did not have any issues. The building is old and the furnishings inside are as old as the building. As you would expect of a building of this age the walls are thin and you can hear doors shutting, people walking down the hall, vacuuming from the cleaning crew and the shower running next to you. So if you are a sensitive sleeper, this hotel may not be for you. But what I can say is that the sheets were clean, the floors (which were some sort of laminate) were clean, the bathroom (although old) was clean. The view from the balcony (some cob webs) was spectacular during the sunsets. The water pressure was fantastic. The tv works through Roku. We rented this room because we were hiking the redwoods so for us it was a place to watch nightly sunsets and to lay our heads, in this scenario this hotel was fine. For any other occasion I would have preferred to stay elsewhere. I do think the prices are quite steep for a hotel this old with very few renovations done. Hope this helps.
