“Visit to Durham”
Room was upgraded to a suite. Decided to stay an extra night and was given suite at same price. Staff were exceptionally helpful in helping us to find good restaurants and tickets for the Gala Theatre. Breakfast staff were very pleasantand quick. Food was warm and very good. Variety was excellent.
“great value”
An excellent few days. The children thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The food was also excellent too.
“A really good deal”
We booked an advance purchase deal through Expedia. Although our room was rather 'cosy' to say the least, the hotel was very nice and friendly. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant althought a little pricey was still good value for money and the food and service were excellent. The position was central to all the attractions of Durham but in a quiet street. Would really reccomend this hotel for a weekend break.
“Old Durham Town”
This hotel is right on the doorstep of the old centre of Durham City, across the road from the start of the pedestrianised centre, with all the historic attractions within easy walking distance. The Marriott deal on Expedia was good value, and our spacious room overlooked the River Wear. The package included very good meals, and the service was excellent. Staff in the hotel were invariably friendly and positive, and despite the cramped car park I had no bother parking each day.
“Find place to stay”
We were visiting Durham University. It was a great location and a great hotel.
“perfect example of Durham life”
Everything you could imagine the UK to be this hotel offered. Everything you need is within walking distance i.e. shopping, local sites, dining and nitelife. Very British!
“Excellent location”
The hotel appears to be an old inn type from the road entrance with modern buildings that extends the hotel to the river's edge. The reception, restaurants and bar are situated in the older part with the pool and spa having great views of the river. Our room was a deluxe room as part of the deal we got through Expedia and lived up to its name. The route to our room from the main facilities was like navigating a maze but it was well worth it to get away from any possible noise and to get the peace and quiet the location of the room afforded. All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and polite and we were particularly impressed with the staff that looked after us at breakfast. We arrived early in the hope of leaving our car and walking into town and coming back to check in later. However, our room was available and we were able to check in right away. We were given a map but the town was only 5 mins walk away. To conclude I think the Hotel's location is ideal and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone visiting Durham.
“Nice Hotel in good location”
Nice Hotel in a great location.
“Excellent!”
Ideal location with lovely staff.
“Great location and friendly staff”
Four of us spent two nights at the hotel and we all thought it was excellent. Parking in the car park was no problem and the central location meant we could walk to the sites, restaurants, etc. We may have been upgraded as our room was large and comfortable but our friends were very happy with their smaller room on another floor. We had good breakfasts and an excellent evening meal in the restaurant. The friendly and helpful staff were outstanding - nothing was too much trouble. Hope to go back!
