It was dirty and the rooms not cleaned daily
I booked in and the staff did not point out you have no acess to the kitchen or lobby after 10pm. I think this is absolutely ridiculous as we are basically locked out of the basic facilities. If you want coffee and anything else you have to go and look for a cafe. I will never stay there again.

Great location but the facility is very run down... the dorm room for 4 was extremely small; bathroom attached to the dorm room is not a good idea because the proximity compromises the privacy. The bathroom is very old, small and not user friendly. $20 deposit for a key and $20 deposit for a hairdryer.... really? I would strongly recommend the owners to upgrade or sell ad build a new world-class facility. The staff was very helpful and polite :-)

Staff were lovely and extremely helpful. I stayed in a room on my own with a private bathroom. I had a good nights sleep and felt safe. The only issue I had, which was out NO fault of the Hotel, was the outside noise, from people in the street, but I did have a room facing the main road. Just something to be aware of and it I feel it is to be somewhat expected as it is the Gold coast :)

The customer service was nice and it was only a few blocks from the beach but the accomodation was not very clean and the shower head was loose so we had to hold it up while showering.

Happy experience!
Had an awesome stay here, the staff were so nice and accommodating! The vibes were very friendly, great location, good facilities. Only thing is wifi didn't reach rooms but they said they were going to try fix this. Will definitely be going back!

Alright for 1 night stay.
Booked for family members. The booking showed 2 beds ie twin but when shown the room it was bunk beds. Disappointing, as the one person who would have to climb up was overweight and very unfit and in late 50s. . The other had a disability and couldn't climb up. When I mentioned that the room was not the same as in the booking, I just got from the lady who showed the room. Well this is it. There also is a big problem if the shower steam gets into the bedroom and the rooms are very close, that this will cause the fire alarms to go off and $1500 fine. Someone had done that the day of check in. I think the problem should be fixed by the owners and people not fined as it is a design fault. Lucky my family didn't let the steam out.

Exactly what you expect from a backpackers. Booked a twin room however was given a bunkbed on arrival. Beds were very squeaky but acceptably for 1 night. Good areas close to the heart of surfers and a short walk down to the beach.

The hotel has a great location as its pretty close to e every things; ie. restaurant, bar, bottle shops, coffee shop or Surfers Paradise ect. However, the room is abit old and not fully furnished, for examples: room doesnt have its tv, hair dryer.

Excellent Hostel for Stay
I stayed at Gold Coast Backpackers for 3 nights for the marathon event and some traveling. I had no high expectation of it, but it turned out to have such a high cost performance. 1. Excellent location: 1) It's close to the Surfers' Paradise Station, only 3-minute walk from the tram station platform, which makes it easy to take the public transport to go to other scenic spots. 2) The SkyPoint Observation Deck (amazing view of the whole city!), a must-go in Gold Coast, is just in front of the hostel. 3) It's quite in the center of the city. There are many restaurants around and the two biggest local supermarkets Worlworth and Coles are both within walk distance (less than 15 minutes). With the complete sets of kitchenware for free use and foods bought from the supermarket, you could really make your daily meals cheap and rich. 4) The 3-minute walk to the beach can bring you either a breathtaking sunrise at sea or a relaxing sunset at sea enjoyment. 2. Hosts of the hostel are enthusiastic and happy to help. 3. The kitchen is kept clean and equipped with complete and sufficient kitchenware for free use. The refrigerators are large enough for you to store fresh foods such as milk, bread, fruits or vegetables. 4. The room is clean and comfortable. If you will spend most of the time outside traveling, you won't care about its limited size. Wifi is only available downstairs in the public area. If I go to Gold Coast again, I will book Gold Coast Backpackers again

Cheap hostel, but not cheap enough
The desk staff was friendly and happy to show me around. The main common area downstairs is clean (including clean bathrooms), has nice furniture, and access to wi-fi. There is a communal kitchen, outdoor seating area, and laundry room ($4 each wash and dry). I got a private room on the 2nd floor. The room was small, and outfitted with only a single bed and nightstand--no chair, no desk, not even a lamp. There was a balcony with a chair. There were two powerful fans, but NO HEAT. The bathroom was incredibly small. The whole room smelled of a noxious, cheap cleaning solution used on the bathroom, though grime was still in every corner. The hallway also had an unpleasant smell. At all hours of the night, I was woken by voices--perhaps typical for a hostel--but also the slamming of doors. I might have expected this for a shared room, but I hoped for more in a more expensive private room.

A Relaxing Getaway!!!
I had lovely stay at the Gold Coast Backpackers. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel at night is so peaceful especially if you want a good night sleep and only a minute walk to tram stop and Q1 (SkyPoint Observation Deck) and 5 minute walk to beach and bus stop. There's a bar at hostel if you want to drink and be safe. Felt really safe in this hostel. Would highly recommended to anyone staying here on a budget and close to shops, public transport and sightseeing experiences/adventures.

Excellent Hostel in Center of Gold Coast
By far the best hostel I've stayed in. Much more cleaner and private than any other hostels I've stayed in. Located in center of Gold Coast and within few min from the beach and Surfer's Paradise. Highly recommended for travelers seeking quiet, comfortable, and affordable hostels.

While this motel is much less than I expected .. Very small room , Internet is bad and reception area only and very week but the owner is very respectful, very nice and made her best to make my stay comfortable and that is the only reason will let me come back if they still have good rate.

Shocking place with shocking legal agreement
So the place is dirty and grimy and uncomfortable. That's fine, for $95 u get a double room not worth $40. The worst thing is they tell you the steam from the shower will set off their fire alarm and then get you to sign up to paying them $1500 if u do set off the alarm with the steam from the shower you paid for... Avoid at all costs...

Great hostel for short term stay
I stayed one night on a stopover from Singapore to New Zealand. It was perfect for the overnight stay. The public transport from Coolangatta airport to Surfers Paradise is excellent, so it was no hassle to get to, and in the perfect location for exploring Surfers and the surrounding areas. A light rail station is just across the road and down a hundred metres or so. The rooms were basic, and fan cooled. Clean, with fresh sheets and a blanket provided. The room also had a bathroom which was useful, but no soap was provided. Wifi internet access was free, but I was only able to access it while in the reception lounge area. Luggage storage was an area of the lounge with a camera pointing at it. Lockers were available for backpacks. I'm not sure of the noise as I sleep with ear plugs (the fans were quite loud, but necessary as it was hot, even at night). Would stay there again if I was passing through the gold coast.

More expensive than other hostels we have stayed in, in equally popular areas. It was small, the bedding smelt used (and you only have to bring down your pillow case at check out which suggests it's not fresh). The bathroom was like a cupboard with a plastic slide across sheet as a door. We found two half used bars of soap and empty toiletries in the shower cubicle. The sink was also unclean. I would suggest going with a chain such a YHA.

SORRY ABOUT YOUR BAD EXPERIENCE. IN SHARED ROOMS ITS HARD TO TELL WHOSE STUFF IS FOR THROWING AWAY OR KEEPING AS PEOPLE ARE MOSTLY STILL IN THE ROOM AND WE DONT KNOW IF WE CAN THROW THE EMPTY STUFF AWAY. THANK YOU ANYWAY

Great location - short walk to everything
The location of the place is awesome, you're >10 minute walk to everything you could want in Surfer's Paradise. The owners are lovely, helpful and very nice. The room we stayed in was a private - it was small with limited room for luggage and stuff but there was a bed and a bathroom so we made due.

I paid $85 for the room but it wasn't worth it as the room was not clean properly. They did not provide any shampoo. The bed sheets were stained..lucky we didnt stay more days.it was a very big disappointment.

Good location - Decent backpackers
Very close to the beach - only 1 minute walk. Close to shops and food aswell. The standard 1 bedroom was a bit of a let down, very cold and very small. The staff were very nice ! And the common room is great and big with an outdoor area. The shower was terrible, after being in there for 1 minute it would flood haha. NO alcohol allowed in the place at all. You could find a much nicer place in the area for the same price.
