Good central location at Margaret River as a base to go up or down the region. Likely to disturb your neighbors if you talk loudly and use devices at full volume. Good place is you’re looking to be quiet and calm. Can hear the road from the apartment units but there’s not much traffic in the area so it’s not very disruptive.

We stayed in one of the garden Parker’s at Gilgara retreat and it was beautiful. Such a unique layout, relaxing and ideal for our short getaway! Great communication, easy check in and checkout process! Would be back again!

Terrible customer service skills. I spent the first night wide awake because of their vibrating and incredibly noisy fridge which kept banging against the wooden door where it was kept. I had to keep getting up every hour to push the fridge back in and close the wooden door. When I told them the following morning, and requested for aother fridge to be swapped with mine (they had another 5 empty studios they could have swapped with, their only solution was to either keep the existing fridge where it was, or leave it outside the studio and use ear plugs for the duration of the stay. What this meant, was that each time I wanted to use the fridge, I had to open the blinds all the way up to go outside which meant everyone could see inside my studio at night! We are in winter too so it was extremely cold too. When I asked for a refund for the first night which was spent sleepless, their answer was they would not because they had given an "appropriate" alternative to my stay - having to leave the fridge outside . If that is what they call giving good customer service, it is in my opinion terrible service. I would not recommend this place at all.

Absolutely loved our stay at Gilgara! Was so quiet & beautiful and had such a relaxing stay! The apartment is fabulous and has absolutely everything you need! Will definitely be back when in Margaret River again!

Great venue for early risers
A very good location and interesting design of the buildings with lot's of glass letting the outside in. However, when the property supplies sleeping masks for your eyes it is a sign the sun is up early and so are the guests as you can't block out the upper windows. Other than that this a great location and property.

We enjoyed a nice weekend get away at Gilgara, was clean and comfortable rooms with a cute setting. Only downsides are that walls are a little thin and can hear the room next door plus road noises from the main highway.

While the location and room are beautiful and clean, we had issues with plumbing and water which was cloudy in the kitchen. The jacuzzi was broken for the entire stay and the owner was unable to do much about it, which seemed overpriced for a hot bath listed as a spa room. Owner was not much help with any of the issues we requested fixing.

Best getaway experience I've found in Australia.
My fiancé and I stayed at here for 2 nights and enjoyed every moment of the beautiful surrounding bushland, the peacefulness of the retreat and the privacy that is afforded to guests. 10/10.

Beautiful modern garden suite with stunning view
Beautiful garden suite which had both very modern minimalist architecture and interior design with a lot of glass features. Living room was perfect for lounging around with a wine accompanied by a beautiful view of the garden outside. Extremely spacious and comfortable living conditions. Angus checked us in and was very hospitable – he had earlier sent us a welcome email with recommendations for the sights as well as the popular restaurants. He gave us a map of Magaret River and suggested an itinerary for 1D trip southward bound towards Augusta which was very enjoyable. Location is about an 8mins drive along Carters Road from the main Magaret River town but if you can live with that, would recommend this as a choice of accommodation. To note, the bed-and-breakfast was not open during my stay so we had the entire retreat to ourselves.

Great Location to Switch Off
Gilgara was a treat - great for a getaway if your wanting to switch off as there is very little to poor reception for mobile phones and the wifi allocation the give you lasted about an hour! Other than that it was a beautiful location with great gardens and such a comfortable bed. Due to the windows though the garden suites heat up so keep that air con on, this kind of makes the sitting air virtually useless in the morning due to the heat of the sun. Also be sure to wear the sleeping masks if you don't want to be woken by the sun rising at 5am!

We stayed in a garden suite and it couldn't have been any better. The experience was flawless from start to finish - from the welcome cookies to Angus's helpful hints and hospitality to the hassle-free checkout. A couple of highlights: - Gardens on way to suites were beautifully manicured and helped set the scene; sweeping views of the countryside from inside the room was equally impressive - The bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the pillowy doona just made it impossible not to sleep in - Sunken spa had plenty of room for 2, was quick to fill and had adjustable jets! Thoughtful touches like tealights and local fragrances made the experience all the more relaxing The Gilgara garden suites are a luxurious, modern retreat and we can't wait to go back!

Stayed garden suite, could hide there with everything we needed with kitchenette, spa with candles, or be sociable at the fireplace in the homestead. Angus friendly and helpful but we were also left to ourselves when we wanted. A relaxing, luxurious weekend. Highly recommend.

Our stay at Gilgara Retreat was absolutely fantastic. The host is hugely welcoming and the rooms in the house are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious and the check in/out process ran smoothly.

Very nice relaxing weekend
Very clean and tidy with friendly staff and guests alike. If you want a getaway with a glass of red in front of the log fire this is the place for you. I have already recommended to friends. 5 minutes drive or taxi to Margaret River and on the doorstep of the wineries.
