Kašuni Beach is an attractive beach destination for swimming and sunbathing. More peaceful and rural in feel than Split’s main Bačvice Beach, it is a good place to enjoy a relaxing day out. Bask in the sun and lounge away an afternoon on its tranquil shores.
The strip is comprised of fine pebble and sand and is bordered by wooded sloping hills. Bring a towel to spread out, as there are no deckchairs or loungers available for rent. Sunscreen is also advised as the summer sun here can be quite strong and this stretch offers very little shade.
Spend a few hours resting or reading a book. While this beach attracts more crowds in high summer, it is generally fairly quiet and low-key so you can expect to enjoy the pretty surroundings in relative peace. Be sure to wade into the water for swimming or splashing in gentle waves the waters on this beach are remarkably clear and clean.
When you need extra energy, head to the beachside coffee bar where you can drink a restorative coffee or juice while enjoying the gorgeous scenery. Use the showers on the beach to rinse off sand and saltwater.
For active pursuits, explore the rest of the Marjan peninsula, where you’ll find numerous walking trails and additional small beaches. Take a long walk, go jogging or climb to the top of Marjan hill for views over the beach, the peninsula and the city of Split, as well as the surrounding islands.
Kašuni Beach is located about 2 miles (3 kilometres) from the centre of Split on the south side of the Marjan peninsula. To get here, walk west from Split or take a bus from the Riva. Find ample parking available near the beach if you wish to drive. Public toilets are available.
