“Alexandra Guest House”

Very good hotel short distance with Underground from Oxford Circus. The rooms wasn't very big but we stayed in the rooms so little it made no difference.

The hotel was clean and conveniently located for everything we wanted to do. Great value. We would stay there again.

“Near Paddington”

Only a few minutes walk. Shops and restaurants nearby. There was no WiFi easily available in the hotel.

“Great location, quiet and nice, good service.”

The price was excellent for London and the location is ideal! 2 blocks from Paddington Station and close to Hyde Park in a very picturesque, lovely, quiet setting. Unfortunately there is no A.C for those very few uncomfortably warm days. The staff was delightful and helpful. And we had a private bath.

“The smallest bathroom in the world”

We were not expecting the Taj Mahal but we were very surprised by the size of the bathroom. If you have problems with claustrophobia you might want to avoid this hotel. The room was clean but not anything special. If all you need is a place to rest your weary bones after a day of sightseeing in London, it is great. The neighbohood was quiet and restful. The area was beautiful. The staff were very helpful, friendly and courteous.

“Dickensian Flophouse - But no worse than the others of its ilk”

The Alexandra and several others like it in the immediate vicinity of Paddington Station and Hyde Park are the least expensive (though by no means cheap)hotel options. Only stay here if you have less than 24 hours before heading to LHR on the Heathrow Express from Paddington, if your boss is breathing down your neck about your expense budget or if you're a college kid who is trying to save cash for beer. Rooms are microscopic, showers (when available) are 1/2 the size of phone booths, plumbing can be tempermental, staff have a hard time caring. If you like food, don't bother with the included breakfasts, you won't find food there. Buy your own breakfast just up London St at Cafe Indigo, you'll be much happier. Don't expect a receipt, don't ask for internet, don't ask for help printing boarding passes. Pay your money, sleep and go away. The only thing Alexandra has going for it is location. Enjoy!

Beds are not very comfortable

“good location but not impressed”

Stayed for 2 nights in the annexe part of this hotel. Room was clean, only one thin towel each but was replaced each day. Turned radiator off too hot. Beds uncomfortable, hairdryer wouldn't work, nor the phone, complained but still not fixed. Toilet seat had holes in it! Hole in bathroom floor. Shower head broken. Breakfast was laughable, processed cheese slices and something that resembled ham or chicken on clingfilmed plates on the table! paid for deluxe double definately not worth it.

“Not impressed”

Perhaps some people are more used to cramped quarters or front desk clerks who can't seem to get messages right. My room was adequate. The mattress was not comfortable. I was given one towel, no hand towel, no bath mat, no chair, one small soap. The shower was very small. If there were more than two people in the elevator it would get stuck between floors. If one has trouble with stairs they cannot get to the ground floor for breakfast.

Poor service, poor breakfast, asked for a queen bed but got two singles... But we didnt pay very much and the rest of london is expensive, so if you are staying only a short time then its very close to the tube and convenient... Its one step up from a hostel
