“Good value at great location”
If you're going to London on a time schedule, this is a hotel to consider. After an overnight flight, I was able to shower, change, and get to my evening meeting downtown without complication. It is within 3 blocks of Paddington station, with its 15-minute express train to Heathrow in addition to easy access to the Tube. There are a number of nice shops/places to eat between the station and hotel. The neighborhood, with its Victorian Architecture, reminded me of Georgetown.
“Good for the price and location”
Overall, the Brunel was very clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly, the room was decorated simply but nicely, and the price of the room was very agreeable, especially considering how close the hotel is to Hyde Park and to Paddington Station. The hotel seemed to be on the tail-end of some renovations (our room's bathroom didn't have a lock, and it looked like they might be painting a different area of the hotel), but we didn't mind it. Given the low price of the rooms, you should know that the price only covers the basics. Breakfast and internet use are an extra charge but not too expensive, and you can always opt to eat somewhere else or use one of the internet cafes nearby. I would definitely stay there again.
“great position for sight seeing”
Small but comfortable and clean room although the corridors were like rabbit warrens. Very friendly and helpfull staff who spoke English. Good position to see Paris from.
“I would have no problem using this hotel again.”
The Brunel was fine for what I needed, which was a clean place to take a shower and sleep. There is no lux. however and the room was very small, but for a place to shower and sleep it served very well.
“Impressive front, rooms lacking”
In general the experience was ok. Price was a bit much for that it was. Ensuite tiles were cracked underfoot. No hairdryer. Double bed was too singles pushed together. Staff were very helpful but the building itself needs updating.
“Skip it.”
Room was extra small and in the basement with a tiny window at street level which I could barely reach by standing on the bed. Every 30 seconds or so an underground train rumbled by my head. There was no refrigerator in the room. Staff had three opportunities to inform me that breakfast was not included, yet they did not. Written info in room was inconclusive. Bathroom & sheets were clean.
“Shoebox sized room- unhelpful staff”
I stayed at the Brunel house for luckily only one night. When I arrived there were other people asking for their money back... that should have been a warning sign. The room smelled like sewage and there was only about 1 foot of walking space around the bed on two sides. There wasn't even enough space to pull the chair away from the desk. Internet didn't work in the rooms. Location is decent, but not worth the money.
“You get what you pay for”
This is a reasonably priced hotel in a great location. My room was cheap compared to other hotels. My room was clean and comfortable. HOWEVER, you need to be aware of a couple of things. 1. If you are in the basement or just above you will have an alarm call from the trains every morning at 5.04AM. Why use these rooms? 2. It is a very noisy hotel. The walls are paper thin and the people in adjacent rooms were extremely noisy. I talked to some other people and they all complained about the noise and mistakes in room allocation, double instead of twin was a common theme. It is a cheap hotel and clean but if you want to actually sleep then go somewhere else and pay a bit more.
“Bad Hotel”
Very small room. There were insects in it. Very upseting.
“Worst experience”
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and it was a nightmare. I mean i know that you have to re-do your "hotel" definition in london, but this hotel was a totally un-acceptable. Would never stay here again.
