"Only stay at this property as a last resort. One or two staff members attempted to be helpful and most were friendly, but they are set up to fail given the horrible conditions of the rooms. Hot, hunid. AC that can't drop the temp below 74. Shirts come out of the closet damp. 3 nights stayed and never received housekeeping, other than the day I specifically asked the desk clerk to have them come replace the towels on the floor used to mop up the water due to the shower door gaps. Just terrible. Tried it again, hoping the Doubletree brand would insist on improvements, but clearly that is not in their plans."

"We have stayed at the Bluemont over the last 5 years at least once or twice a year. They have new management that started in January. On the website, it said free breakfast included, which wasn’t accurate, it was $10 per person. They did comp us once we brought this to our attention , but we had to pay $17 per day for 3 days in order to get the comp. Parking used to be free so this was a change as well not listed on the website. The front desk folks spent a great deal of time sitting at a couch in their phone and not behind the front desk, this looked unprofessional in my opinion. When we did go for our breakfast, we were asked at least 3 times by someone who worked there for our comp card, kind of nagging, but understand she had a job to do. She apologized and said they have new management and she was just doing her job. TV channels were not accurate on the TV, and the cable worked but was messed up. We made it work. Our experience was much better under previous ownership."

"Paid for two room for 3 nights. I booked and called to see if I could get the rooms adjoining or at least next to each other. I was told they had not assigned rooms, but he would make a note. We arrive 3 weeks later, to find they are just on the same floor half a hallway apart. I was frustrated and trying to remain calm while explaining our situation, I have a family of 7 so we need two rooms, but was met with a very combative and aggressive GM, Brandi. She continually interrupted us and would not do anything additional to accommodate us, saying they had no two rooms next to each other (although the room right next to one of ours was empty all weekend). She threatened to cancel my reservations, which after our stay I wish we had. After that exchange we went to our rooms, one smelled terrible, both had not been cleaned for some time with hair and dirt all over the floor. In addition, some outlets didn't work, there were only bulbs in half of the light fixture in the bathroom, the main light in the room strobed, the trash in the hall was overflowing for much of the first day and the next (having to side step to go through the doorway), and breakfast was extremely lacking and not ready on time, should have been 6 AM, but was not ready till after 8AM the first day. We didn't even go to it, there was nothing but two choices of cereal and waffles....Spend a few more dollars and stay somewhere else, this place is not even fit for a dog to stay in."

"There was no air conditioning in the lobby or hallways, which made for a hot/muggy experience. The side door (closest to the elevator) was "out of order" for the 2 days we stayed.The elevator was not very clean, and had a used band aid, on the floor for the entire stay. There was no safety certificate posted for the elevator, which might not seem like a big deal, but the elevator was slow and got "stuck" at each floor, for a brief period before the doors opened. The breakfast was very underwhelming. there was not a lot of selection, and what was there was old and cold. We have stayed at this same hotel many different times, in the past 10 years, but we decided there has been such a decline in quality, we will no longer stay her, at Parkwood."

"Miss Aubrey checked us in. She was professional, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, beds comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent . Biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, waffles, fried onions and peppers and that was the hot breakfast. An assortment of cold breakfast food was available as well. We met Miss Virginia the chef. She was a military cook for nine years. She loves cooking and adds much to the menu. We walked out with chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven. The whole experience was good."
