The hotel was not what we expected from the picture online. The room was not very clean. The whole hotel in general was very run down and decrepit. The one saving grace was the hotel staff. They were accommodating and friendly. We will not stay there again.

Quiet hotel but rather gloomy.
I was a bit disappointed by this hotel. It looked very nice as I walked through the door, but, when I saw the room I noticed there were no windows and it had a rather gloomy appearance. I thought the covers on the bed were fit for disposal too, because in places they were darned. There was absolutely no wifi in the room, and because there was no windows, getting wifi using a phone signal only was almost impossible. I was told that there was wifi in the lobby, which there was, but when I went there to use it I was bitten by mosquitoes because they leave the outside doors permanently open. I had to use mosquito repellent once I noticed the mosquitoes. The plus points was that the aircon unit worked well and it was quiet but, saying that, it took me a while to realise that the batteries in the remote needed changing, which the hotel staff did when I told them about it. The room was quite quiet also, and there was a good cable TV service. My girlfriend broke the toilet roll holder when she knocked it off the wall accidentally, and although I insisted it was loose, I was expected to pay for that damage which irritated me. I pointed out that other fixtures were loose, and then they decided to fix them. I was overall disappointed, I would have preferred something with windows, I found the room rather gloomy, and it was not very near any shopping mall.

This place is hard to find, not wheelchair accessible. The appearance is quite old but maintenance is ok. There's nothing in the area and it is quite isolated and scary neighbourhood

Have all the basics for a basic stay. Hotel should provide free Wifi throughout the hotel to upgrade and boosts its level to the next.

Good value for money apart from the noise
It was a good night but having a day time nap is not a very good Idea as it was very noisy because of the renovation but other than that the hotel is a good value for money.. staff is also very helpful but not very friendly. . Lol

Look elsewhere if you want a good sleep
The check in was hassle free. Even though I requested for a queen bed during online booking...I was given a bedroom with two beds where the new paint smell was horrible. But I was quickly moved to another room with a queen bed room on request. There was no free wifi in room and even the lobby didn't have free wifi. But what made me completely irritated was that at 11:30 p.m. there were so many loud voices like partying right outside my door.Giggle, running, screaming... The noise seemed to get louder and louder and finally after 12:15 a.m. I called the reception and they said that they would send someone to look into it. I remember that it was still loud when I fell asleep and I woke up again with real loud noise of so many voices outside the door at 6 a.m. That's just horrible to wake up with so much loud noises. My heart was racing. All I could think was that they were the new trainees I saw yesterday. The impression I got from this place was that they don't really care about any of their hotel customers...may be they care about their residences only. I did however liked the courtesy and politeness of the restaurant staff.

They are lying. When I booked that have free wifi, free breakfast, Airport sutle, but when I there, they said because I book from Hotel.com that I got No wifi, No free breakfast, No Airport shuttle. Have to call taxi. No busboy help for luggagese. They told me next visit Not to book from Hotel.com, then I will have all the service about. and it is free. I don't like them to say like that, I rather book from Hotel.com, and always book from Hotel.com. Because book from Hotel.com I got worry free. Sincerely Peter wong

The hotel was cheap alittle bit dirty I saw the largest rat I had ever seen at that hotel. The staff was rude and the restaurant didn't open until 6pm. So I couldn't order room service. I can find better cheap hotels

OK in a pinch
Wasn't happy with the roaches and the attitudes of some staff. The guards were friendly. Not the best of locations. Lots of noise from the tour bus guests.

Table in the room has rotten legs. When it tilted over we complained and staff took it away. When we were checking out they want to charge us for the table -- very frustrating. Also, some stuff we have in the fridge went missing (2 blocks of cheese). Reception staff, especially day guy, very unfriendly. You have to ask for breakfast voucher like its a favor they are doing for you.

Always the best bet in town for your dollar/Peso
I use this hotel frequently when visiting Manila or doing business there. It is located close to everything and everywhere I go. Modest prices for the good rooms... always use best rooms and never settle for cheapest rooms. staff are always accomodating and nice and always eat out at Aristocrat.

Not recommended for solo female travelers
My stay was ok, the only problem is the location. If you are are traveling alone, specially a women, it's very badly located. There are no restaurants around, the only one is the one at the hotel, very very expensive, furthermore, i'm vegetarian, nothing good for me. And Sunday it was close. So, i ended up eating an apple and few biscuits that i had, because i couldn't go even to 7-11, it was too far away and everybody was warning me, be careful, very dangerous to walk alone (during daytime) for a woman. I have been traveling for 3 years in Asia, and it's the first time i feel so insecure. I always travel solo. Even went to India, and never had that feeling.

Little did i know how close everything is to this hotel, the mall walking 3 minutes the paco park next door which was bueatiful. The staff was friendy and helpful. For me being american on how to get places or places to see the staff was again helpful talking to the taxi driver and telling me the price that should be payed. The room was basic no big frills it was normal room that all i needed my stuff was left out and everything was safe nothing taken so that was plus, didnt go to the pool so cant tell you about that but overall was great place to stay and the restaunt was pritty good with local and western food ofered.

The hardware installatin of hotel is very old.

The hotel is fine, no more, no less, very average, period. Rooms are OK, location is in central Manila (Ermita), about 15 min walk to the light train (subway) and Jose Rizal Park. The immediate surronding are poor average of Ermita, you need to walk a little to get to more touristic zones but it is a good place if you want a reasonable price hotel near central Manila. Just need to walk a bit to get to the real action.

The jet tubs are not in the rooms that have not been remodeled yet, but the hotel itself is a very nice place and the customer service is above board. It is an older Hotel with many of the antiquities of an older hotel. My fiance and I enjoyed our stay there and would stay again.

The room was spacious but had a musky odor. There was a hotplate and refigerator just inside the door to the room but neither one of them worked. The website indicated that the rooms were set up for wireless internet access. Not only was it sporadic but it was completely unreliable. If you wanted internet you could pay 50 pesos ($1) an hour at down at the service desk for a wired connection that seemed to be fairly stable. The swimming pool was closed for maintenance the entire time I was there. The hotel was not near any of the major shopping and required a taxi ride. The taxies, set a fixed price of 100 peso to the nearest shopping center. If you did it on a meter it was usually less than 50. The staff was friendly but I am not sure that totally made up for all the other deficiencies

One Night in Paco at Garden Plaza
Just returned from Central Visayas and needed to spend peacefull last night in Philippines before catching flight back home. As always the staff was on top of their game. Quick and courteous check-in. Went to Paco Park next door just as the sun was setting and had a seat at the center circle of the park with others while Mass was taking place inside the Chapel of St. Pancratius which was completed in 1820. Nice ending here as my trip came to a conclusion.

upon arriving at the hotel the out side and surrounding area is extremely dirty. The inside was clean and the rooms were ok.The complementary bar was a joke They gave you 4 cans of coke ,orange, sprite and 4 cans of cheap beer ,that they charged you for upon check out.There was no jetta tub in the room or kittchette .And if you are planning on taking a dip in the pool don't bother the pool is filled with concrete

WHAT A MUCH NEEDED SURPRISE
I flew in to Manila at 10:30pm, taxied to the Garden Plaza and crashed. the staff was soo great and nice. They always put up with my constant jet lag problems, and was always there for me. the Hotel staff was always curteous and always greeted you where ever you were. the Restaraunt was delightful with western food if need be. The after hour "Swinger lounge" in the lobby provides an excellent evening of entertainment and fun and ohh those flaming chicken legs..... Overall, this hotel, staff and location is ideal for a stay in Manila. OH, and the prices are fantastic also.....

Recommendation with caveats
I stayed one night in November 2009. The hotel is tucked inside a block of buildings so it's difficult to see/find from the street. Staff service was excellent - my room was ready though I arrived quite early, check-in took less than five minutes and staff were able to provide me with excellent walking directions. The room itself was very basic, with nothing to set it apart from thousands of other inexpensive hotel rooms. It had a faint musty odor that's typical of many older buildings in tropical environments, but was clean, had a functional a/c, hot and cold water and clean towels. My single biggest complaint has to do with food: There's no restaurant at the hotel, so you must either eat at the hotel next door (very expensive); eat from a nearby street vendor (I don't mind doing this but these particular vendors didn't have much to offer); or walk a ways to find a restaurant. On that note, the surrounding area doesn't have much to offer. It's not terrible as far as big city neighborhoods, but it's a bit grubby and I found little in the area to specifically recommend it. In sum: This hotel was clean, relatively inexpensive, had good service and was only about 20 minutes from the airport. If that's all you need, you'll likely be satisfied. If you want more than that, particularly if you want to be within walking distance of restaurants and tourist attractions, you should probably look elsewhere.

Room was Ok although had problems with the lock on the door etc... Staff were very helpful and adjoining restaurant was very good. There was a bar although I did not use it so can not comment. I guess I expected better but do not know what other hotels are like in Manila so hard to compare.Would though recommend it to others to stay.
