After reading mixed reviews, I was happy to stay in the Manzanita building in a standard king bed room. The bed was comfortable, there was a mini fridge and bath products in the bathroom. The only thing missing is a coffee maker. It was very clean, comfortable, had large windows and I could hear the ocean. I would definitely stay again, but would bring my mini coffee pot.

This is a great option if you are looking to get away to disconnect and relax. - no tv in room - far from entertainment - beautiful boardwalk to the beach - excellent seafood restaurant within walking distance- Fishwife - clean If you want a location near the restaurants, bars and tourist attractions this is not it. If you want a location to meditate, relax and disconnect this is it for you!

The place is lovely change from the chaotic hotel/motel scenario. Everything was smooth. I originally ordered a fridge, but decline because of the up charge. When i registered us in I explained my son is Autistic and I didn’t want to leave him alone to long in the car; I ran back to my car, to let him know what I was doing( while I was gone the Front Desk lady told me she’s having the fridge in its way to my room; she said because it was for medical reasons I didn’t have pay the up charge. I was grateful for understanding my needs.

Much of the grounds and the historic Julia Morgan buildings are well maintained and lovely but some of the newer buildings have a tired and run down feel. In such a beautiful setting one expects better overall accommodations.

Peaceful, beautiful and a perfect location to enjoy the beauty of the Monterey Bay. Rustic accommodations that haven't been changed in years, only basic needs for a perfect, simple get-away. Not for everyone, but I will return regularly.
