“Great Hotel in great location”
We stayed 4 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. The room was not large but big enough for 2 people and luggage. Very clean bedroom and bathroom. The area is quiet as was the Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good English. The immediate neighbourhood has all that you require in terms of cafes for morning coffee and croissants and dinner. There is a metro stop about a hundred metres down the street but we found Paris very easy to walk around and that we walked from the Hotel to most places. We did not have breakfast at the Hotel, preferring to go to a local café that served great coffee. We would strongly recommend this hotel to you.
“Great Value & Location”
Stayed there on vacation 10/6-10/12 2006. Hotel was very nice and the location is excellent. ATM was across the street (you'll need this in Paris), Place Monge metro stop was 1 block away, Rue Moffetard is 2 (uphill)blocks away with with a restaurant every 10 feet and selections from a slice of Pizza to gourmet. 20 minute walk to Notre Dame. The hotel staff was extremely extremely helpful in calling taxis, making/confirming reservations, etc. Included breakfast (coffee, tea, croissantes, pastries) was very good. Rooms are small (it's Paris after all) but conforatble and clean. Our bathroom was new and execellent. Thw ONLY negative is that they don't have A/C (there was a fan in the room) so it might be hot in the summer.
“Perfect Location - Excellent Staff”
Hotel was close to everything - we walked to Notre Dame, The Louvre... almost everywhere. The staff was able to give us personal directions - literally drawing on a map - on how to travel on foot or by subway. The rooms were small, but far from the smallest we stayed - and we stayed all over France during our travels...
“Our Dreamy Paris Hotel”
We loved the Hotel Christophe. Location was perfect. Hotel itself was charming and atmospheric - just what you want in Paris. Staff was wonderfully helpful, particularly Adelaide, who was always ready with information, brochures, and good cheer. A truly wonderful week before we headed south.
“Great little hotel”
We went to Paris for the French Open and to see the sights. While the hotel was a little far from the stadium, it was nice for everything else. Great little hotel, just be prepared for very small rooms. But if you go to Paris, you're never in your room anyway! The breakfasts were nice, with wonderful coffee and pastries.
“Comfortable retreat, Good location”
The Hotel Saint Christophe is a compact gem of comfort and convenience. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. While the room was very compact, it was a marvel in efficient space utilization. We were able to unpack everything for a comfortable weeks stay. Location, just off Rue Monge (between the two entrances to Metro stop Pl.Monge), is quiet yet close to many sights. Perfect place in Paris to rest in the late afternoon and sleep at night.
“Close to the metro and in my favorite Parisian neighborhood”
First off, the Latin Quarter and Rue Mouffetard is my favorite part of Paris because it's charming with lots of places to eat, two open markets and remains relatively low on tourist crowds. This hotel is located a short walk from Rue Mouffetard and an even shorter walk to the Place Monge metro station. Also within walking distance are the Jardin des Plantes, Pantheon and a little further away (but still walkable with lots of stuff in between) are Notre Dame, Sainte Chappelle and Conciergerie. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and ours had a nice view of Rue Lacepede. Just be prepared for a super-teeny elevator (par for Europe) and a dark, narrow stairwell. I only wish that there was a more compelling breakfast offering with eggs, etc (continental only).
“Convenient Paris hotel”
Very close to metro stations and easy access to central Paris, which is a 15-20 minute walk. Our room was small but adequate for our needs - the decor was a bit tired. Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fine for us - juice, yoghurt, cereal, tea or coffee. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
“Fantastic find - great area & great hotel”
Finding Hotel Saint Christophe on Expedia was very lucky for us. We could not fault the hotel and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The included breakfast was great - cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice, 3 types of bread/pastry each with butter & preserves, plus a pot of coffee/tea or hot chocolate. Very central in the Latin Quarter - as two women on our own there were no problems going out at night to the many restaurants within easy walking distance. Five minutes easy walk to the Seine & Botanical Gardens. Would stay there again tomorrow with no hesitation.
“Good Solid 3 Star Tourist Hotel - Superb Area”
I think this is a good hotel for the price, possibly even a superior one. It's a bit like the Ronseal ads - it does exactly what it says on the tin! It doesn't pretend to be more or less than it is. And that's to its credit. The staff are helpful and the rooms, though not huge, are of a good standard. Now then. If you're expecting contemporary chic you'll be disappointed, unless you like the French vogue for what we Brits would term 'carpeting' on the walls. If you're looking for luxury, you're in the wrong hotel. If you need 20 Meg (or even three Meg!)broadband, don't stay here (business people - forget it!). If you want quiet & no traffic noise - this is not for you. If you're used to big everything - ie, beds, breakfasts, bathrooms, rooms in general you need a hotel with more stars.But. If you want to love, live, experience Paris then this is the place for you. The area is superb. You just can't beat it. So much more Parisean than 90% of the rest of Paris that, if you understand & take the St Christophe for what it is, you'll feel yourself lucky - blessed perhaps - you ever stayed there. Go in the bars - we recommend the Mayflower - lovely guy - stand up & drink in the Tabac/bars; admire all the students who take books into the bars & sit like Sartre - so seriously; test out your rubbish French & eat kebabs (not too Parisean I know - but excellent & damn cheap); eat the best pastries & cakes in the world & just go with the flow!
