“Hotel Cabin”
For what my husband & I wanted/needed it was perfect. The location to the town was just right. We enjoy walking so the distance to town was no problrm for us, took about 15 - 20 mins, even with heavy snowfall. 1 block back from the sea front with a lovely walk to the harbour. We had the delux room with a sea view, and when the mist lifted we had a beautiful view of the mountains. The hotel itself was perfect, very light airy & modern, the restaurant was kept very clean and the food on offer was fresh every day with a wide choice. Our room was spacious, clean & comfortable. the beds were 2 singles pushed together with separate duvets, I found this to be better than sharing a duvet! The room was very very warm on arrival but the heating was easy to control. We had both a shower & a bath so after a long day walking and going on excursions we were able to have a nice hot soak in a steaming hot bath.....Perfect!! The only downside was no tea & coffee facilities in the room but even that wasnt really a problem as I had read up before hand and took my own kettle, cups, tea & coffee. There was a garage across the road to stock up on milk. On arrival to our room after settling in we switched the TV on and found we had BBC1 so we were able to keep up with the news on what was going on back home! The reception staff were very helpful & friendly. I would definately chose Hotel Cabin again should we visit Iceland again in the future.
“Hotel Cabin - our hotel of choice in Reykjavik”
Good position, easy to find when driving from Keflavik, with plenty of parking space. Even if you don't hire a car, the airport Flybus service will take you to the hotel. Friendly reception even at 2am. Room clean and comfortable with good bathroom. Breakfast plentiful. Garage opposite has a small supermarket/shop and a Subway/Nesti for snacks, etc. Short distance from the seafront and about a kilometre from the harbour/shopping area (turn left and follow road alongside seafront. On this road (half way to harbour on seafront) is a large modern stainless steel Viking ship sculpture. We have stayed in Hotel Cabin 4 times now in the 8 years we have been visiting Iceland.
“Great value for money :)”
Extremely good value for money. Comfortable, clean and great location. Very helpful staff, parking on site, good breakfast. You get your moneys worth. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!!
“Friendly and Welcoming”
We found the staff friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean and well maintained. The Breakfast is what you would expect from a european hotel cold buffet with cereals and bread. The bar area has no atmosphere, and the prices are more expensive than local bars but that the same for most hotels, The city center is an easy 20 min walk along the sefront with great views of the surrounding mountians for those less energetic the hotel is on the main bus route, the city is a 10 minute ride away. The citys main park with zoo and swmming pool is five minutes walk. In summary a great hotel to use as a base for exploring Rekjavik and the surrounding area
“A really excellent and quality budget hotel”
I had a wonderful time here and I'll definately go back. The staff were really helpful in booking buses and tours for you and the food was good as well. Generally speaking it wasn't heated food and tended to be salads, eggs and fruit but that suited me fine. Also the rooms are very nice for the price - I was staying on my own in a twin bed room with ensuite shower room (which I believe is the standard.) It was cleaned every day and was perfect for me. It was fairly compact though, but I was on my own and it didn't matter. The city is about 15-20 minutes walk but there is a bus stop nearby though if you need one. Also, you're not far from the bay and you get a nice view of the mountains on a clear day. Also you can buy dinner at the hotel (again mostly cold salads) which can be very nice if you've come back from a long tour. I really recommend this place to everyone - its great!
“Reasoinably priced, well situated hotel”
The Cabin is reasonably priced (room rate includes breakfast) and well located. This was our third stay there. As we had a hire car, getting to it from Keflavik could not be easier (approx 35 minutes) and there is adequate parking. Hotel is clean and comfortable and breakfast buffet is more than adequate. It is a short distance from the city centre and well placed to access the main road 1 which circles Iceland. We went in March especially to view the Aurora Borealis and were blessed with clear night skies on both days we were there. A short drive to a dark area out of the city lights enabled good viewing and photography.
“Holiday in Iceland”
The Hotel Cabin is a two star hotel, the rooms are small and compact as you would expect. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was reasonably priced and good and was mainly salad, soup, with 1 hot main dish of lamb for dinner, and the puddings were fresh fruit, ideal if like me you are diabetic, plenty to eat and always fresh, the rooms were clean and the TV had BBC1 and BBC2 channels. Extremely good value for money.
“Happy”
Because of hurricane Irene, my flights got messed up, yet I got to Reykjavik, Iceland, and to the hotel easily, due to the excellent bus service from the airport. I had a nice comfortable room at Hotel Cabin on the sixth floor, overlooking the sea. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. They confirmed my tours for me, and answered all of my questions. The breakfast was good, the dinner buffet excellent. I really enjoyed my trip, and if I go back to Iceland, I will stay at Hotel Cabin. There are many tours with Reykjavik Excursions and whale sighting companies, and because Hotel Cabin is recognized as one of the city's leading hotels, the tour companies pick up passengers from this hotel. The Fly Bus, coming from and going to the airport, also comes to this hotel. Overall, I had a good stay there!
“We will go back”
Who wants to go to Iceland and stay in their Hotel? Not us and so Hotel Cabin was a great place to sleep and have breakfast. There is a bar if you need it and its all really clean. Essentials like blackout curtains and peace and quiet made a very restful night which is just what you need after a day of tours and taking in all the amazing pleasures that Iceland has to offer. Its a lovely walk into town and if you want you can walk right along the bay to Downtown Reyjkavik - its perfect and the staff are very helpful if you get stuck with anything. If you want a hotel with all the star rating qualities then this hotel isn't for you, but then you can do all those things at home can't you?
“Would return.”
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Extremely helpful and obliging. Very trusting. Immediate repair to any minor defect ie change of lightbulb. Plenty of food(buffet), though almost the same every day: some variation preferable. Excellant value. Buses easilly accessible.
