The hotel was lovely and historic which made it all the more special. The staff was really friendly and helpful making it a pleasant experience. You can take the metro subway from the Central Train Station. ( Unfortunately the tourist information guy was quite unhelpful and never mentioned that option So ask) The restaurant was excellent. The included breakfast bufffet featured some excellent breads and other European style fare. Dinner was great and so was the service. It is convenient to the cruise port so you just have to walk across the street. We enjoyed our stay and certainly would stay again on any future trips.

The hotel is in the former Holland America building and is very close to the cruise terminal and the Metro. Our room was quite large, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large as well.

Our suit was one of the most beautiful I have stayed in. It was expertly renovated in a contemporary style while maintaining exquisite old woodwork, soaring high ceiling, fireplace, modern large beautiful bathroom, large windows overlooking river, comfortable king bed, large modern soaker tub and enormous velvet sectional couch. The hotel itself is very quirky. It is very old, mazelike but interesting and charming. The entrance is much like a speakeasy, unubtrusive. Several steep steps, no porter in sight, lead to a small old reception area. There is one small slow elevator. Staff throughout the property were helpful and friendly. Complementary drinking water and delicious in room coffee. Buffet breakfast substantial and tasty. Excellent value. Very short walk to cruise ship terminal.

The style and history of the hotel was fun and unique. It was an easy walk with our suitcases to the cruise port. Our room had a great view of our cruise ship coming in to port, which made it the perfect location.

A gem of a find
Heading out on a cruise. Staying here we were steps away from the cruise port. Hotel was quaint with lots of history.

Grand old dame with both old world charm and modern amenities. Top notch breakfast. Proximity to cruise terminal an added plus for cruisers.

Superb historic hotel with cool features
Really cool "old-style" historic hotel. River view rooms are huge. Other rooms adequate, all with very tall ceilings. Heating was off in my room when I arrived, which shows eco-friendly strategy. Easy to turn thermostat up a little for comfort. Nice breakfast, but pricey at €20. Great location on water. Superb Rodeo restaurant a 2-mins walk away plus the Food Hallen for variety of quality foods & drink. A bit disappointing that the hotel bar closed up at 10 or 10:30, even for hotel guests, but maybe this is a Dutch thing!
