Amazing mountain views and helpful friendly staff!
We stayed in the bamboo hut and it was really unique experience. Bed was comfortable and they even have a wooden bath tub. We had an amazing view when we open our doors. Big thanks to Hai for the 10/10 hospitality and helpful suggestions of activities for us. We enjoyed the market tour & the cooking class, which was our lunch on that day. We extended 1 more night because we love the place so much especially the infinity pool. We had three meals there and the ingredients were mostly home grown and very fresh and tasty. Highly recommended if you are looking for a place in the mountains!

The most unbelievable retreat in SaPa Vietnam!!! Breathtaking views, incredible service and a luxury retreat! What a fantastic stay! The team went above and beyond providing us with amazing customer service. Hai was a fantastic host and master planner. Other staff members who were fantastic are Vuong, Huan, Quang, Nguyen, Vous, Moi and Tam who were all welcoming and gave us a great experience. The team and Hai ensured our rooms were ready and well prepared and we had a great experience including tours (rice terraces, waterfalls, fansipan) taxi guides and an amazing day plan. The hotel is modern, clean and well designed. Rooms are large, comfy and have everything you need including water, snacks and aircon. The best part of the hotels was the view, including infinity pool which looked far and wide over the Sa Pa rice fields with breathtaking scenery. Thank you to SuSu for a fantastic 5 hour tour around the rice fields and villages. Finally because this place is an ecolodge all the food is prepared from the garden and was absolutely delicious...breakfast was out of this world particularly the french toast and noodle soup ...id highly recommend! Overall, I'd highly recommend a stay here and hope to be back again soon. Thank Hai and team NB Bills can be paid in US dollars or Vietnamese Dong which made the experience super simple.

Best in class.
This is a must stay in Sapa. The views are stunning, the food is magnificent and the service is superb. Located a little away from the tourist town it is peaceful and friendly, but offers great tours and walking access to the valley away from the obnoxious crowds.
View from room.

Sapa Clay House is a must stay! We read the reviews before booking and were NOT disappointed! We stayed Nov. 21-25, 2022 and the weather was superb. Mind you, there were a few days where the clouds rolled in and you couldn't see much...but it made things interesting! SenMa suggested several things to see/do while we were here. The hiking in the tea fields and around the local areas were breathtaking and wonderful. The grounds are meticulously kept and the flowers and foliage are well cared for. Getting to and from Sapa was...an adventure. The winding roads and scary encounters on the road were enough to make your head spin! But, once you arrive, it's peace and tranquility for sure. We really didn't eat off site much except for one night's dinner in the main town. The food at Sapa Clay House was to die for. The breakfasts were delicious and always beautifully presented. We never left hungry! One of us took a cooking course on site and it was so much fun and very enjoyable. We did try one of the baths offered during our stay and it was lovely and worth the extra fee. The room we stayed in was gorgeous, spacious and the bed was cozy and comfortable. The view was amazing! The pool is gorgeous with stunning view, but it was chilly. Finally...the staff. We can't speak more highly of these amazing people. They are gracious, kind, incredibly helpful and superb hosts. From the moment we arrived to the moment we sadly had to leave, we loved staying here!!

What a magnificent hotel! Our stay here has been the highlight of our trip to Vietnam…the beautiful location, the lovely room with a spectacular view of the mountains, the attentive and gracious hosts and staff, the massages, and the food! It has it all. Can’t recommend Sapa Clay House enough…this place is heaven.

This is a lovely place to stay, just a little ways outside of Sapa town. It is quiet, quaint and the views are wonderful. We only had 2 nights but we got a good taste of Sapa - the town is only a 40 minute walk away and the road down the hill leads to some nice walking roads. We stayed in one of the ‘cement’ rooms (versus bamboo) which had amazing view of the valley (when the cloud shifted) and was warm/cozy for the chilly evening. The restaurant serves delicious organic homegrown food - worth staying there for dinner. The staff are outstanding - friendly and ready to please (Jim and Sen). Overall a worthwhile 3D/2N trip from Hanoi to see this place which I am sure the views are jaw-dropping on clear days.

Sapa Clay House is a wonderful choice to stay if you want to experience the beauty of Sapa. We loved the outlook and beautiful views from our spacious executive room. The bed and furniture were comfortable with a large beautiful bathroom and private verandah. The restaurant was excellent with views overlooking the gardens to the mountains. The food was amazing with a varied menu and staff so attentive. We appreciated the inclusion of a good breakfast. There are various activities on offer and we enjoyed the trek and the massage. The hosts are helpful, knowledgeable and charming. I highly recommend visiting Clay House if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing experience whilst in Sapa.

I loved the view and all the meals were excellent. It is a farm/market-to table ecolodge. I was staying in the bamboo hut and unfortunately there was a rat nest in the roof so it was very noisy at night: but that being said it was still worth the experience. I also had an herbal bath and a massage. The massage was good but I didn’t feel very safe because the lady kept coughing (and she wasn’t wearing a mask). I think they should review this and make sure that people coming to give services aren’t sick (specially because of Covid). The pool was also very cold (not heated), but I still enjoyed it a lot. The view was exceptional and the staff very friendly and professional. I would definitively go back and suggest to anyone that wants to have an eco experience to go there.

The staff went above and beyond for my stay here. Booked a trekking tour through them. I liked how they encouraged us to support local. Enjoyed my massage in the spa. The masseuse lady knew what she was doing. I ended up having all my meals at the hotel because they were so well made. I'm going to have to come back one day!

Its everything and more! Its not luxurious so don’t come expecting that, however the place is amazing! I can’t say enough about the staff, everyone was so nice and helpful. The owner Manh also help arranged a car to drive us to Lai Chau, outside of Sapa. Which i highly recommend. Oh, and the food! Would stay here again next time im back. We also, stayed two nights in town. Big difference between the noises and how peaceful and quiet it is here at night.

Definitely recommending this small family run mountain retreat… come for the view and the foods. All food dishes are uniquely tasteful and beautifully arranged. They raised their own chicken and grown their vegetables on ground. Breakfast items (3 breakfast dishes and 2 drink selections) are included in your room rates. Only 10 rooms are available for booking. Room sizes varies according to rate. Few things that can be improved are small fridge in room, install shower curtain, better lighting structures.. room tends to not get enough lighting especially in the bathroom areas…environmental friendly retreat with a sense of personal charm and connection. Transportation may be easier if arrange through the hotel. Bonus: Visa is accepted!

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They above and beyond to cater to our needs. The property is beautiful and well-kept and the view of the mountains and rice terraces are the best in Sapa. It was definitely worth it staying a bit out of the town center which was busier and more crowded than expected. The homemade meals they prepared were a highlight, offering both authenticity and great taste. And finally, if you’re lucky, you’ll see the management’s cute furry friends running around the property!

Beautiful view, romantic, relaxing, kind service.
Sweet family, beautiful views, comfortable room, good food. The family is so kind and helpful. We did the cooking class with the hotel cook and loved it. Our only complaint is that the room (seasonal house, fall room) has a window over the lobby, and we could very clearly hear the family talking and laughing until late hours. It’s a shared space and we understood, but a lot of noise and light comes into the room from the lobby, and we couldn’t fall asleep until late. But would definitely recommend, the hotel was lovely and we would come back again!

The staff were amazing, so helpful so enthusiastic. You could really tell the pride they had in their resort. We had stayed in sapa at another location for a few nights and we booked the clay house as a splurge/treat. We were blown away by all the small details they’d included in the stay— even a diffuser in the room on for our arrival and they turned the heating blanket on for us while we were at dinner and they were replacing some items. Even the towels smelled good. The meal we had for dinner was delicious, and they were kind enough to make breakfast early for us as we had to leave to catch a bus. We encourage anyone travelling to sapa to include this in your travels. You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed 2 nights at the Sapa Clay House in late September 2019. We had one of the private bungalows. Every picture you see on their site is exactly what you will find. The location is fantastic, the view is spectacular, and the rooms are wonderful. We loved our room. It is very cozy and rustic. Everything looked wonderful from the bamboo to the tapestry on the ceiling. Waking up in the morning and walking onto the balcony and seeing the entire Sa Pa valley is quite spectacular. Breakfast Pho’ and French toast were great and to watch the care the staff takes to ensure the food looks perfect was quite amazing. Dinner at the Sapa Clay House is also great. The hotel is out of the city a few km (which is the #1 reason to stay there) and as such dinner in the hotel makes the most sense to avoid traveling to town. But honestly the dinners are extremely well priced, and gourmet prepared. We stayed one night in town and considered traveling back to SaPa Clay house for dinner and one more night of the view. Everyone mentions the dogs which are well behaved. We also were very grateful for the hotel to arrange a hike through SaPa as well as a day tour to Tien Sa Waterfall, and Fansipan. We would highly recommend staying here….it is a beautiful location, quiet and serene. September is a great time to travel to SaPa. Thanh and Robert

The meals were always fantastic, chef is amazing. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Only negative is the private bungalows are at the main entrance to the property and close to a street and therefore noisy with traffic and local dogs barking all hours. We would definitely stay there again but would not choose the bungalows.

The decor and style of the room is unlike a standard hotel room and added to our overall experience in sapa. I really like how the room and bathroom were clean modern with local decor aesthetics. The food was delicious and truly farm to table. I will come back here next time I visit sapa.

Location is far from town (which I loved!). Transport to town was easy though (15-20 minutes by Sapa Clay House's private driver, Thao). Private hut was amazing - beautiful views, great amenities. Bed turned down every night with a little gift and note with inspirational quote and weather for tomorrow. Loved the pet dogs in the common area/lobby! Beautiful retreat and highly recommended for those who want a quieter or secluded space. Arranged for cooking class and batik class the evening before and both were fantastic. Food made here is fresh and very well done. Exceptional service by the family members there. On the pricier end (equivalent to North American hotel standards) but worth it. Construction for pool was still going on but would definitely come back and stay here again! Travel mates also had a private bamboo hut and mentioned there were rodents or some scuffling on the roof top at night. Staff said they would set out candies to lure any wildlife away. Not much can be helped, the stay is outside of town and in a rural area. Expect roosters and barking dogs to wake you up. Part of the charm!

The Sapa Clay House was one of the most amazing places I have been. The views are incredible. No picture can do it justice. We stayed in one of the private hut rooms with an outdoor bath tub. Spectacular. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The massages were great, as was the food. I could not recommend this place more. Sapa Clayhouse set us up with a guide for trekking to Lao Chai and Ta Van. This was one of the best experiences my wife and I ever had. We unfortunately did not have time to trek to the big waterfall. I don’t understand how this place has any bad reviews on trip adviser. The people who wrote those must have been absolutely terrible because everything about this hotel and the staff was outstanding. We can’t wait to come back.

Sapa Clay house has breathtaking views and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our only issue was there was some drilling works just outside our bamboo hut for 2 out of the 3 day stay which meant the first part of our stay was not so relaxing. We made the staff aware of our dissatisfaction and feel we should have been notified of this before we booked or offered some form of compensation. If this hadn't occurred then I would be giving an excellent review. We would stay again in the future.
