This is a great location, across the street from the convention center (where my event was held) and right in the Gaslamp Quarter area with many restaurants nearby.
My room was on the train/trolley side of the hotel - I was surprised that the noise was not bad. Except there was one night the train was running for about an hour between 8 pm - 9 pm parking, which was slightly annoying - nothing the hotel can avoid, but if that will be a deal breaker for you, request not to be on that side of the hotel.
I'd still stay in the room I was in. The rest of the nights were just fine, and I liked the view from that side of the hotel.
Breakfast is great in the Wild Hare! I used my $25 food credit on that. They have fresh OJ, which is so delicious, and they have great coffee.
I was not a fan of the dinner options, but it's San Diego, so I'm usually out eating great Mexican food anyway.
