Each time I visit Shanghai, I booked this hotel. The rating may not be the best in Shanghai but in terms of location (near tourist belt), I love it. However, I must commend the management and its staff for not affecting my stay even though there was a power cut due to, according to the staff, owner bosses quarrel and I had to move out to another hotel. There were about 30 policemen protecting the hotel at the lobby and as many people who came to create trouble standing outside the hotel. The staff found and booked for one hotel nearby (of the same price) and even leading me and help to carry my stuff to that hotel. Excellent attitude and service! I would still go back to this hotel at my next visit.

Nice hotel not too far from the metro station.
Overall it was a great experience. The hotel is a little hidden, but you'll see a sign directing you through a walkway to the hotel. Great for the price.

Excellent location in Center of Shanghai
I stayed in this hotel for 8 days on a business trip. Excellent location easy to get a taxi, or walk to subway stations, and also walking distance to many main tourist spots in Center of Shanghai. Two short blocks from the Bund - early morning jog along the Bund is enjoyable. Just outside the hotel are 3 convenient stores, one fruit store, and one fast-food store for dumpling and noodles. All provide excellent tasty food, drinks, and fruits. This makes up for the lack of any food, drinks, or coffee within the hotel. This hotel at one time may be quite elegance but the facilities probably has not been updated for many years, showing the age. Hotel is pretty clean overall, but the shower area did show signs of moldy area and corner of the shower area leaks small amount of water out onto the floor. Refrigerator did not work. Table light did not work. This hotel has no view of any street at all because all the building surrounding it and it takes a narrow driveway to drive up to the hotel front door.

Great location
The hotel staff do not speak enlgish very well so it is difficult to communicate. The room has everything you need, except the internet is terrible. I couldn't even send an email. Chat worked for 5 minutes and stopped. The walls could ise a fresh coat of paint and the towels and sheets had a few marks on them. Overall the room was clean, and breakfast is conveniently at 7 AM or 9:30 AM upstairs for $5 CAD.

Overnight stay in Shanghai
decent hotel very close to the Bund. The place seems fairly old in its décor but the room was clean. Bed was NOT good. Very hard mattress... not comfortable. Otherwise the room was fine. Pretty much just needed to get an overnight sleep and shower so didn't really see much else about the place. No reason not to stay here again but I'm sure there are nicer places for the same price.

The best about this hotel is how close it is for bund and night times sights of the city lights. A very big room with comfortable bed though the shower/bath was not very good. The stay was overall worth it because of price and the actual area is good also

Close to shopping centre and Bund
The hotel was outdated, the flooring, decor, bedding, service and staff. The room smelled of smoke even though I was ensured by the front desk it was a non-smoking room. The windows in the room could have been cleaned (Alex and AJ's message was still there written in dust from earlier 2016). The only good thing about the hotel was the location, which is close the Bund about 35 mins walk.

The staff were helpful but the room wasnt especially impressive - smelled of old smoke despite being a non smoking room and the shower tiles were a bit grimy. However, good location, 5 minutes from a Metro station and free luggage storage on the day we checked out

Good location, facilities are lacking
We were only here for a few hours. We arrived at 1am and after a long day, were unable to shower due to a lack of hot water. The next morning at 8am my boyfriend was able to get hot water, but I wasn't. Very disappointing, as this hotel is a HOTEL isn't a cheap hostel. The room was clean enough, no complaints there. Staff was friendly, the night desk attendant spoke minimal English but was able to tell us what we needed, however, the two employees of the morning staff hardly spoke English at all. Location is sketchy at night - we arrived at 1am to (seemingly crazy, or at the very least very drunk) men hanging out on the street, and one of them threw something at us. Be sure to take a picture of the entrance of the hotel for when you arrive, as the entrance is a little difficult to find.

wifi was a joke
The hotel location is wonderful, room is huge, n staffs r very friendly. Breakfast was good. But they need to improve their wifi n AC. We were not able to use the wifi at all n the room was very warm n AC didnt work.

Elegance Bund Hotel.
We just had a hard time expressing ourselves since they don't understand english. Very limited comprehension. And not very accommodating unlike our next hotel along Nanjing rd. and the towels were worn out. But water was strong. It's an old 3star hotel for me.

Not like the other hotels we stayed at in China. Location was wrong on Expedia map. Didn't say anything about not having window access...oh wait, it had Windows that opened about 4 inches onto concrete. Had a SEE THROUGH door to the bathroom....Really....when was that ever in style???? Everything had a price on it, combs, even a price if you vomit...About $8. Also, had condoms in the hotel. Went down to get a massage at the hotel massage area....it was just a bed, so I held off. A little suspicious. On the upside, it was on the Bund and it was cheap.

Not a fancy hotel but excellent value
Staff were friendly and helpful. The subway was only 10 minutes walk. The Bund was a 3 minute walk. We would book there again if we go to Shanghai

Horrible service.. My lock box was broken asked for help came look and said follow this plastic instruction.. Did so still broken came looking very aggrevated and said will fix next day.. Never did. I ran out of chinese money and needed to change cash for the night cause banks are closed but they looked at me and said good luck.. Oo well ??

The room is terribly dirty, bed sheet with dirty mark. The wall with a lot of water mark in black. Toilet with clear glass door, cannnot be used when guess in room. No service at all, just tidy up and change the cloth in the morning. Facility looks very old.

Good basic hotel for adventurist
The hotel was a bit more "tucked away" than advertised (being on The Bund), although this did make it quieter than perhaps it could have been. Hotel staff worked hard to understand English, should suggest English travellers to have common phrases translate available). The lighting was poor by our standards, but manageable as was the air conditioning (I think it was just a fan, no cool air ever did come out). Safe wasn't secured to a wall or floor which was concerning and had consistent problems with the locking/unlocking instructions. Felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night given its location. Good bathroom facilities for Westerners. Any problems were solved quickly.

when we check in there are so many problems also i booked for twin room and they gave me double. tein room is more expensive but they said cannot give me the money back because hotels.com gave them the wrong info. overall, this place sucks.

Boutique was spacious with large bed, sofa, tables and desk. Very clean, and not too noisy. About 15mins walk from East Nanjing metro, it was a little hard to find at first but with a map would be no problem. Very close to many sights / places to eat / shopping. Staff weren't the most helpful and english wasn't great, so we left them too it. Wifi a bit slow, but was available in the room. Not available to all rooms I think. Our room was near reception.

Good hotel in terms of location, room quality, staff and price. Wifi worked well in the room but very well at lobby. Only one alert: in google maps the hotel appeared elsewhere and it took me a while to find by foot.

Small hard to find hotel
Very unfriendly staff at the check in, a clean room but small, hard bed. No better than any other 3 star hotel in China like a Home Inn or Greentree but more expensive. Location is good and with in walking distance from nanjing east road. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. I would not stay at this hotel again. There are many better hotels in this location.

As they say, this hotel had a lot of potential at some point being large and in a great neighborhood, but they have left it to decay. The interior of the rooms are disgusting with dirty carpets and broken fixtures and random construction at 7am on a Sunday morning. I really wanted to like this place but after a four day stay just couldn’t. Due to space limitation I will make bullet points: The positive: - Amazing location - Large rooms - Good water pressure and temperature - Lots of outlets The negative: - Dirty and smelly - Staff has no English skills - Cold calls from staff at night soliciting "massage services" - "Ladies of the night" sliding cards under your door at night - Strange construction going on at random times - Horrible sound isolation - Half the rooms have no windows - The bathroom is a glass box - Rock hard beds (slept on top of four spare blankets, and that’s coming from a serial camper) - Safety deposit box is not bolted down

According to information on the desk we had in our hotel room, the hotel received a complete renovation in 2012 but it really didn't seem like it. The hotel seemed old. The room was clean enough but could be cleaner. And our room safe wasn't working. On the plus side, I liked that their heater was working well (since we visited during the winter) and the staff could understand English well enough. The location was also great, really within walking distance to the Bund. And nearby was a small convenience store, a hospital, and a police station (just in case).

Older staff attitude problem.
Old lady at the reception and the old man in-charge of luggage storage were not polite and poor service. I think their sentiment is that they are older than us thus no need to serve the younger customers in good way. wait to long to check-In..if i hadnt paid the room online, i would have turned and left given their poor attitude. Other young staff are polite. Hotel difficult to find as well.

The hotel, while location was outstanding and very near The Bund and within walking distance to Nanjing Road and East Nanjing Line 2 Metro Station, the staff can barely speak English. One kept relying on translation software which was a fail to be honest. The carpet in my room was dingy and dirty and there was questionable mold issues in the corners of the bathroom. Need I say the floor drainage is rusty, which they tried to cover with a trash can. I guess this is what you get for paying cheap but I disagree and say that they should nonetheless strive to offer cleaner rooms for guests, especially those who m they wish to attract as regulars. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Great location
So close to the Bund, between the Waldorf and the Westin. The corridors looked newly renovated; gave an overall cheery feeling. My wife thought the carpet in the room smelt a little musty, in need of a good steam cleaning, but overall great value for the location for the short stay
