great experience
The experience is amazing. The staff is very nice. When I headed for the next stop, they gave me a ride to avoid my subway trip with a big luggage. The hotel has in-unit washer and dryer.

The hotel was close to the metro station, making transporting around the city very easy. The hotel was clean, spacious and had a kitchen with pots. Hotel employees spoke English. Surrounding restaurants spoke little to no English but were helpful.

Reason I stayed there was full access to an external gym nearby. The opened up a kids room on B1 and called it a gym. 2 treadmills and it's a gym room. Absolute joke. I'll never stay here again.

Room and location is fine, staff not very friendly
Location was fine and the room was nice, however, I found the reception staff were cold...dealt with a couple people and neither were friendly and seemed overly rushed and quite rude.

Great spot
Great location, comfy and clean room, very helpful front desk staff. Only complaints are that the first room they had smelled smokey despite being non-smoking (we changed rooms and it was fine) and that it was really slow to provide a taxi (we took the metro instead)

The breakfast is terrible with little food choices, and the dirty environment, can see the hotel is not sincere in providing the breakfast, the hotel room is very big but the cleanliness is bad. Will never visit the hotel again.

Nice semi-luxury hotel not far from train station
We picked this hotel basically because the rooms looked good (mini-suites), but only 15 min walk to bus and train stations. Subway station also close by. Room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Everything worked without issue, Heat/AC, Hot Shower, Mini-Fridge, Good WiFi, etc. Would definitely stay here again if the need arose. Lots of basic local shops and restaurants in the area. Only improvement is to add a parabolic shower curtain bar for more shower space.

20 mins by taxi from main areas but has starbucks and kfc in the block. Kitchen in rooms, good size and 2 queen beds. Breakfast included was a average but ok, had both western and chinese basics. No gym but there is avcess to a gym nearby but it wasnt available to 10am so didnt use. For the price a decent stay if you dont mind train or taxi to anything to see

Overall, a nice hotel in Shanghai. No gym or pool here. The front desk staff speak some English but Mandarin is your best bet. It`s a non-smoking hotel but the guests do not follow the rules. Our hallway leading to our room smelled of smoke but luckily once inside the room, there was good ventilation. In general, it`s very close to the metro station, there is a lot of eateries right outside, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff do their best. The advertised hotel and room pictures are true and accurate. Howerver, there is a morning concierge guy who is very unfriendly and will not answer even if you say hello, smile, or ask a question. Other than that, it was pleasant.

Good quality hotel located close to the metro.
Overall, a very good hotel. A couple of comments: We came to breakfast at 9:00 and already most of the dishes were gone and weren't being replenished.. Someone in the room next to us was smoking and we could somehow smell the cigarette smoke in our room.

Close to the Metro - nice neighbourhood.
Free early check in was great. Free breakfast only applies to 3 people per room so we had to pay for additional breakfasts. Front desk personelle spoke English well and were very helpful.

Convenient location, Shabby Rooms, No Standards
Hotel is conveniently located diagonally across from the subway. However, the rooms themselves were shabby, and the hotel has no standards. Having moved rooms 3X as the hotel repeatedly assigned me to the wrong room size, I think I've seen a fair sample of their rooms. On the nights I had a Premier Suite booked, they tried to assign me to a Deluxe Suite, which was smaller. When I called to ask them for the square footage of each, the girl at the front desk (Stella) repeatedly responded with "they're basically the same" without answering the question. I booked the Deluxe Suite and paid a higher premium over the room categories below specifically because I wanted a more spacious room (600+ sq. ft). The rooms themselves were not in good condition. While it seems they've renovated their bathrooms, the window seats were all ripped, and held together by many strips of clear tape, half of which were peeling off. Even if you ignored the aesthetics, it was extremely uncomfortable to sit on peeling tape. The marble counters on the bars were of similar condition - little potholes, filled with hot glue (?) that were also peeling out. Upon speaking to the room attendant, I learned this is an issue with the majority of their rooms. There is great opportunity for this hotel to set some standards, and better train its staff.

NOT a hassle-free check-in
The Front Desk does NOT speak English. This made the check-in process very difficult, let alone the attempts to alert the front desk / management of mistakes the hotel had made in our reservation. The hotel also had extreme difficulty finding all our reservations. While our reservations were made 1 reservation for night (we were unsure of how long our stay in Shanghai would be, so this made it easier for us to change than rebook an entire week), we emailed the hotel in advance - with all confirmation #s & respective stay dates. This email was acknowledged by their manager, prior to our departure from the U.S.. However, when we arrived and checked in late evening, our fate was in the hands of a clumsy Front Desk, that would keep you standing at the front desk as they serviced men whom they did not want waiting (my mom and I were 2 females).

The hotel is located in a very local area. Hotel & room are both clean. Okay comfort and service, with Asian offerings for breakfast. Overall, good value for everything the room comes with, especially with the Hotels.com sale of the Premier Suite @ $90 / night, inclusive of wifi and breakfast.

" So close yet so far "
Location is around 100m. from Zhongshan North station which is next to Shanghai Railway station. Airport limousine bus will cost you Rmb 22 each up to shanghai railway station only. Hotel airport shuttle is Rmb 67 each and taxi is around Rmb 200. Travel time is around 1.5 hrs. 4 stops to People's square via line 1 where the action is. Room is very spacious with 2 powerful independent a/c and 2 tvs. Strong water pressure however design and construction flaw causes ponding and flooding while showering and the staff said it is normal since all their rooms drain slowly. What a waste ! Beware of the obscure wash basin which may cause head injury when using it. A few steps away is a kfc, a grocery, several food and fruit shops, milk tea shops. A mix beans soup shop is worth to visit next door. Breakfast is something to fill you up which caters to local. It took us 30 mins for our taxi to arrive when the concierge said, 5 mins, its coming.....

This was first time staying in this place. I like the location because subway was only five minutes away. Plus all the restaurants and super markets right next to the hotel. It was great experience for the price. Super convenient!! Highly recommanded!!

Normally I don't give feedback on expedia but this time i would like to take advantage of this platform where we can express our good & bad experience. We had a terrible experiience. The hotel did not allow us to stay inspite of having paid bookings . Reason my new born son who was 35 days old doesn't carry a passport. We went to shanghai to make his passport and we had to go to the consulate early morning. So we decided to reach shanghai one day before and sleep one night in shanghai and go early morning to the consulate. We were forced to leave the hotel after making check in and staying in the room for 2 hours. I had to leave the hotel at 8 in the evening with my 2 kids out of which one is a new born (35 days only) looking for another hotel. We were allowed to stay in another hotel with no hazzles. Terrible and never in my life will recommend anyone as hotel staff like robots kept on repeating their rules which are not applicable in many cases. Anyways we stay in their country so we need to respect their system.

We feel sorry that you encountered such a bed experience. Frankly speaking, that was the first time for us as well. Please understand, we would like to serve you and your family members. But, as a matter of fact that you baby has no recognized identification at all and we were instructed by the Local authority, Exit and Entry Administration, that we cannot accommodate your baby in our Hotel. If not we will be in trouble. We are definitely sure that no hotel in Shanghai will dare to accommodate your baby for that night. We are most welcome to serve your family members except the little bay, after all we have no other alternatives on how to handle your baby. Our colleagues explained the situation repeatedly but you do not understand such a requirement nor accepting our explanations. We understand your difficulties, being a foreigner, therefore, our colleagues eventually found a private residence for your family for the night. Please understand the private residence is not under the direct supervision of the authorities, and it is not suppose leasing out to foreigners. Furthermore, we provide one vehicle for free sending your family as well. We accompanied you and your family to the place until you got settled down. We cannot get in touch of Expedia’s Customer Service that night since Expedia in late night have no one on duty. We contacted them and managed to explain the whole situation to them on the following day and they agreed to cancel the booking and waiving all the charges that may incurred. Lastly, they promised will arrange for the refund as well. Under such circumstances, our colleagues have done our best to save you and your family members from all unpredictable hassles. It will not be fair for us to be blamed in the incident. Hoping that you can understand and fine for everything.
