Room was dirty, showerhead was filthy, tv hung on the wall by what i think was a nail, didnt want to turn it on as it was moving all over the place. The standard of repairs done to the room was shockingly bad, that bad that it just looked really bad.. After driving 3hrs to get there and seeing the room, we went out got something to eat, put the bags in the car, and drove 3hrs home, it was that bad.

Thanks for your second review, our hotel is not dirty, please note the shower head was clean on inspection after your review, and the bedding was fine. We will check the bracket on TV. The heating works and after you left it was still on full and the room was very warm, however you could have had an extra heater if you had asked. The lights shades don’t have insects on them - they have no base/top. There’s nothing wrong with the net curtains, no holes or stains, you did not complain once during your stay. If you have problems in any hotel in the future please go to reception to report them straight away rather than going home and putting a review on the Internet when things can no longer be sorted out, you would not be welcome back to our hotel.

Dark unlit road while walking to property from station at night( not properties fault, just an observation). Smell of cooking when walked in - stale aroma. Room tired looking, mismatched furniture and grubby round the edges, mattress so soft thought it was a water bed, shower tray ingrained with old dirt from peoples feet, needed a lick of bleach. Towels seen better days. Smell of cooking filtering into room in morning. Had to hold breath on way out. Ok for one night , Wouldnt stay twice.

The Monsell is situated on a the corner of two roads which have street lights so we are bit confused about your comment on a dark unit road. We will have a word with housekeeping about your comments in the room. Also your room was next to the kitchen and dining room so you would expect some cooking smells from breakfasts. As you know the Monsell hotel is situated close to beach and town centre of Skegness and is a purpose built hotel with excellent wi-fi and facilities, thanks for staying at the Monsell.

Only positive was the host
The owner was friendly and welcoming but that’s about the only positive. When we arrived we couldn’t park on the drive and managed to find a space on the road further away. The room was dated and smelt musty and the bed was really small for a double and uncomfortable. It could have definitely done with some TLC. There were other guests coming and going at all hours and you could hear every noise. If you was looking for somewhere quiet and to get a good nights sleep this wasn’t the place. We also had some very loud guests try the door to our room at 5 o’clock AM and proceed to stand outside and make a lot of noise. I definitely wouldn’t return

I booked a twin room in this hotel and was over the moon with the parking upon arrival, On entering the property i was surprised to be dealt with quickly and friendly and shown to my room number 4 which was on the ground floor and lovely to say the least ill definitely be booking again

Hotel was in a quiet area not too far away from the attractions. Hotel was clean but a bit tired. Breakfast was huge and very nice (£8) The bed was far too soft for us but that is just personal preference, other guests might prefer that. My only gripe was that the previous guest had left a smear of poo on the toilet roll and that should have been binned before we got the room.

Overall good would stay again
Overall really happy with our stay. Room was generally clean. Only complaint would be the shower suffered from bad black mould around the head so much so it started coming off when the water was on. Had to clean it ourselves as couldn't use like that. Bed comfy. Downstairs bar only sells tins and bottles no pumps and only sits about 6 people.
